I don't think us or Sydney need another striker...but he is from Wollongong
So I would suppose that he might prefer a NSW move

Yeah definitely agreed, but what with Simon and Kwassy coming back from injury and Danny abroad for the first four weeks, we might be a bit sparse up front.

If it's a straight up choice between Sterj and Gameiro, give me the young kid any day of the week

But we only play with a 1 striker system nowadays...
Although if we are ready to consider using Dukey on the wings every once and a while, it would make a bit more sense

Sydney FC would normally be able to offer him more I'd imagine, but it still boggles my mind how they will be able to fit Carle and Griffiths under the cap. Besides, our training grounds are top notch, our team is the best, rent is lower on the coast so he'd be able to save more money too, plus growing up in the 'gong he wouldn't be put off by the locals too much I don't imagine.

Corey Gameiro is set to stay in the A-League for at least next season because he doesn't want to risk sitting on the bench for an overseas club when he should be developing his football.
"It's more about game time," the Australia Under-20 forward told The World Game when asked what the main considerations were in deciding where his next stop should be.
"I'm at that point in my life where I need to be constantly learning - on and off the field. I need to see game time - playing week in, week out - and to be put into a structure that will help me develop as a footballer.
"That's why I’m looking at staying in the A-League next season and talking to clubs here."
Gameiro's agent, Greg Keenan, who is based in Europe, is handling negotiations with A-League clubs on the player's behalf.
Keenan said: "Corey's original intention was to use the Under-20 World Cup to showcase his talents. However, there has been such significant interest in him from numerous A-League clubs that there is now every chance that a deal will be struck prior to the World Cup. I'm not prepared to disclose the identity of the clubs with whom we are negotiating."

I think you hit the nail on the head with Sydney's salary cap troubles...so Sydney's normal financial advantage is cancelled out!

Gameiro spoke to the media for the first time this week following his arrival in Wellington and offered this on what he brings to the pitch.
"Probably my speed,'' he said. "And, in and around the box, I'm just one of those lucky ones that if it's going to fall to someone it's going to be my foot. So hopefully I can get a couple of chances and see if I can put them away.''

"I'm used to playing up front but when I started at Wellington they put me in an attacking midfielder role, through the centre," Gameiro said.

"That was good, because I could be dangerous coming forward but last week they dropped me back as a central midfielder.

"I didn't play very well and I've had a chat to the coach about it. I think I'm better off playing in the more forward midfield role.

"I said I'd be happy to stay where I was, if that's what they want to do, but hopefully I'll go back to the attacking midfielder role this week."

On-loan striker Corey Gameiro did his future prospects no harm with an energetic and profitable performance as Wellington Phoenix drew 2-2 with Adelaide United at Westpac Stadium on Sunday.

The 20-year-old Fulham player had a hand in both Phoenix goals, assisting Jeremy Brockie for the first and netting the second himself with a lovely volley.

So he is versatile, and has a bit of success in a poor Wellington side...

This is whats happened with Musty!!

The FFA are trying to get our young kids to stay in oz, so make an example out of a guy that left "too early"

I rate Gameiro highly. Would love to have him here. Formation wise, Arnie has proved that he will change if he thinks it best suits the players at his command.

A striker is not the key role for us to fill, but another good striker and we might be better suited to a 442 again. Matty and Duke will be a hell of a handful, and with Monty and Fitzy behind them, we could press teams like no ones business.
