ccmfans.net is the Central Coast Mariners fan community, and was formed in 2004, so basically the beginning of time for the Mariners. Things have changed a lot over the years, but one thing has remained constant and that is our love of the Mariners. People come and go, some like to post a lot and others just like to read. It's up to you how you participate in the community!

If you want to get rid of this message, simply click on Join Now or head over to https://www.ccmfans.net/community/register/ to join the community! It only takes a few minutes, and joining will let you post your thoughts and opinions on all things Mariners, Football, and whatever else pops into your mind. If posting is not your thing, you can interact in other ways, including voting on polls, and unlock options only available to community members.

ccmfans.net is not only for Mariners fans either. Most of us are bonded by our support for the Mariners, but if you are a fan of another club (except the Scum, come on, we need some standards), feel free to join and get into some banter.

Interesting - Would a foreign keeper want to come to CCM to play in the sand while the big boy play - me thinks not - So would seem a new No. 1 might be on the cards then
Would you rather play in the sand at Terrigal or kick around the back streets of Soweto?

My first thought.

Yeah and mine. Clearly a dig I thought.

And BG's right, too much strain on the production line. And we will still have a lot of youth in Trent, Ando, Fitzy, Duke, Caceres, Morton...

Can't really expect to on top of that to replace Pedj, Olly, Dutchy, Pellers, Hearfield all with young players... Balance would be wrong.
And the best of the recycled HAL players were basically all taken to form WSW + special treatment and funding for marquees and foreigners.
You can see why he wants to have a a dig. Wise man GA.

Gotta think 3 or 4 African players who are picked by GA could make us quite competitive ...
to many middy . this is white boy country up here . there are just to many people that would
turn on anyone who came here and farted loudy in public that maybe closer to purple than pink.
bernie was raised aussie. yet, i believe he was panned quicker than any player in the squad last year
feel free to throw stones . but remember the vocies around you at the games .

I hesitate before posting this response because I just don't want to give your post any oxygen... but your post is probably the most ridiculous assertion I have ever read on this forum.

I think this is true. Either many people on this forum know f**k all about Football or TB was/is correct.
Hutcho could play a dozen dire games on the trot and never hear a quarter of the criticism Bernie copped for one or two lame games. Brad Porter played 50 odd games for the Mariners and 40+ were shite...yet as a white Coastie he was protected (good bloke but the point has to be made).

I'm not a big rap on African players as they are often disorganised and ill-disciplined, but if they are good enough...why not. Gerhard and Traore are both very good players.

yuppies booted the kiwi's out long ago.
i use to drink at the "astra" years ago . i saw a bloke pick up a billard ball
and belt a maori with it. the moari just stood there.
his missus jump up and hit the guy with and left, right, left ,right and drop him .
as a 17 year old i thought to myself don't f'k with those people.

Haha
Tested out your theory a few times in my youth and can agree that in general it's about right. Also Moari women are good with a pool cue on a off the table.

I've heard racist comments - but they have been quickly shouted down near us. As for Bernie, I think that Hutch, Porter and Kwas have all copped similar criticism. I'm not convince by Bernie's quality (though it seemed to improve for a few weeks after coming back from Brugge) and think we did well to get a decent transfer fee for him. A win-win for the Mariners. My main problem with Bernie is that he seemed to give up easily. Porter, though maybe not as good as many players always seemed to be trying and probably got credit for that. I think we've matured since then and need both quality and effort.

I wasn`t a big Bernie fan at the start but he sure did improve in the short time he was with us & for the effort he put in I for one would stand & salute him.
I don`t care if he was purple with green spots, once he pulled on that jersey he was one of us & should be respected for that.

There was a very, let's just say, anti Bernie crew around where we sat. They were on him for nothing ALL the time. To be fair, I never heard a clearly "racist" word, but to everyone else around it sure felt like it. There was a real screeching anger and vitriol that just didn't match up even remotely with what was happening on the pitch.

We countered with Bernie chants, and going bezerk every touch he did. Worked a treat. Drove them crazy and they all got the hint and just shut up. Though they still scowl at us. :afro:
