I think we've seen the best of Pedj. Moving to Sydney is not so he can get better at football but get the time to concentrate on things other than football.
Thanks Pedj.
Toodles.

When are we likely to hear more and besides, can we even afford him given we just got Simon back and our financial situation at the moment?
Fixed.

Who knows? This is a fans' forum, not a press conference. The club will announce what it wants, when it wants, in the meantime if anything is reported elsewhere someone will probably post it here.

Patrick leaving would open up a decent bit of the cap. Then Bernie and Maty are likely to leave - not much off the cap - but a transfer fee for Bernie and development compensation for Maty.

Multiple times awesome news today.

except for this:
"There is also strong speculation that Pedj Bojic is on
his way to Sydney FC, with talk circulating that he has
requested a release from the final year of his contract
with the Mariners so he can move to the Sky Blues.
The right-back's work and family commitments outside
of training, including his own personal training and
fashion label, may lead him to spending more time in
Sydney regardless. "

So Pedj asks for a release to go play with Sydney FC even though he has a year to go on his contract.
I`m not a big Pedj fan ,(as most on here know),but what about a bloody transfer fee!!!!

The smell of defenders soiling themselves at the thought of Simon, Duke & McBreen all running at them next season has just wafted through my window. :overheadl:

Had exactly the same thought, Duke and Matty up front with McBreen in the 10 role could be a few defenders faking injury or looking to get that 5 th yellow prior to playing us :)

I'm not convinced that Trent is going and wouldn't be surprised if he extended like Duke. It seems that Arnie is staying - and has been quite vocal about Trent probably benefiting from another year here. With Trent going out with Arnie's daughter the relationship is not simply player/coach.

Hope your right PJ, Trent staying would be HUGE for us. People are talking of Trent's poor start and coming good, a reasonable thing for young players adjusting you'd have to say, and with that in mind, if you reflect on Anderson, you'd have to say he's been bloody sensational. Give him another year to grow under Arnie, and he's my pick for best young defender in the HAL for sure. Last night I noted a few on here thought he was pretty average, but that was some serious quality opposition and he will be the better for it. Damn we have a lot of impressive youth players. Imagine we could have kept Musti and Tommy for a bit longer... sigh.

Great news with Matty coming home. McBreen in behind Matty and Duke would be a pretty terrifying HAL frontline.

Loss of Pedj though, I'm with Wombat, all opinions aside, he had a massive impact on a lot of games last season. Best RB in the league, maybe/maybe not. But one of the best. Certainly. Hard to think that isn't therefore a significant loss. We won't miss a few traits sure. But it's the end balance I'm worried about.

Technically shite but so important to our side, especially as our only attacks come via our fullbacks. We never play well without Pedj.
Even when he is terrible he is still dangerous.
i was thinking similar, we didn't win too many when Pedj didn't play this season. if he goes the team needs to think tactically about how to play without him, to recruit or train a replacement to make him just as effective, or to play to the new skills of whoever comes in

either way for all his occasional polarity - he is on the whole consistently a significantly beneficial player to this team - i for one will salute him if he goes. and it's still an if at the moment

Does that mean McBreens new nickname is "Shultz"....I Know Nothing......Nothing!!!!!

Heh... I don't see why not... "Macca" seems so obvious and the whole "Big Mac"/"Wee Mac" thing could get confusing... I vote we start calling him "Schultzie" :)
There's nothing quite like one of those nicknames with the strange explanation ;)

I'm in two minds here.. I've posted here before, about some of my reasons for liking Pedj - other than the bit where he's exhilarating to watch when he bombs forward etc. - He has an extraordinary defensive eye all the way at the back sometimes.

However, once that's said, I think that it is also clear that he hasn't been at his usual level for most of the second half of the season. He's back to making questionable decisions about when to try to hold up the ball and when to pass it. I cannot count the number of times, just in the last two games, that I've watched him run straight at a group of three-or-so defenders and then chosen to try to get around them by running at the middle of the group... I know you don't want to do what's obvious, but come one! I'm a bit worried that he is starting to open up our flanks more than he is offering attacking qualities as we lose the ball AND a defender when he does that.
He recovered, but I mean look at Wednesday's game.. Several times he was almost over where he could pair up with Rosie, when he lost the ball and had to race back... That's a problem against teams like that, who were obviously faster than us.

My main concern though, is hth we'd replace him.. There seems to be an acute shortage of FBs around here...

On that note, I think it's worth pointing out though, that Trent's poor starts last season, to a great extend, where related to him being played either in Pedj's role or further up in the midfield... When played at CB, to my mind, he's pretty much performed.
I also think that you're all a bit harsh on Zac here... For mine he's been an outstanding addition and at time has shun brighter than Sainsbury.. Indeed I'd be quite happy to see us next season with those two in defense and Dutchie being on hand occasionally for advice... Zac looks quite happy to let everyone know what he's doing and where he thinks they should go (in the good way)... I think communication has been one of the major factors in our defence being what it is this year - a yound player could be easily forgiven for being a bit timid around the likes of Dutchie...

I think Simon Poulsen is off contract at Sampdoria - he's in his late 20s as well, maybe he'd do a deal ;) I'm sure he'd be happy to play on the right in stead of the left...

I wouldn't be surprised if he stayed either. Though it's a slim hope now with him flying out to Basel on the 24th to check out the club's facilities.

The player next year that I hope will fill the void left by Patrick is Nick Montgomery. Not in Patricks position obviously but as the onfield mentor to these younger and inexperienced players. I watched his reaction to a couple of passes when Zac was under some pressure and Monty displayed that calmness as he helped clean up, that Patrick had since day 1 of his stay here. With all of his experience and with a season of settling in under his belt Monty is ideally situated to really lead the kids around the park. Zac is a tower and with Patrick off the field and Monty on it mentoring him I expect Zac to be a pillar at the back whoever he will be playing beside.

The team is supposed to be aware of his runs and have a man available to drop into his spot when he does go for one of his marauding runs forward, I saw them do it time and again throughout the season. This didnt happen on Wednesday night though and we left ourselves very bare at times in defensebecause of it
