Player movements 2013/2014

Of all the players in our side if we had to lose someone arguably Pedj is the player most replaceable... maybe a chance for a youth player to step up...

Good thing we've been blooding Hayden Morton then, eh? Makes our starting XI look a little bit like:

If we play the 2012/13 4-2-3-1:
Pasfield
Morton Wilkinson Anderson Rose
Montgomery Hutchinson
McGlinchey McBreen Bozanic
Simon
If we play the pre-2012/13 4-4-2:
Pasfield
Morton Wilkinson Anderson Rose
Montgomery
McGlinchey Hutchinson
Bozanic
Simon McBreen

And who knows what else Arnie might think of...
Yeah, we'll go alright.

I'm an idiot savant without the pesky savant bit
i must ask....exactly how much time is Matty gonna get with bernie, sterj, dukes and mcbreen on the books...looks like he could be a guest star at best

Simon is broken needs fixing -
Mcbreen getting on a bit he might now be classed as insurance in case Matt doesn't recover properly & as reward for his great season, might also be a reason for the drawn out negotiations as both would of known matt was coming in, McBreen can drop back just behind Matt as well,
Berni dreams of being Overseas plus is more a wide player than the guys you mention so could really count him out on all conversation here. Plus wasn't fitzgerald brought back to cover Rogic & Berni leaving?
It's more 3 strikers McBreen Duke & Simon - So would need to play either 2 strikers as suggested under the old formation or McBreen drops back a little & one on the bench.
Really depends how broken Simon is & when is he due back etc
IMO

Physio's can do wonders with tape these days.

I don't mind a little duct tape flapping in the breeze as Matty charges down the pitch. ;)

So you reckon Duke won't be starting next year?:innocent:

Replacing Pedj gives the opportunity to improve the side. He is a tough one to replace with the positives of his energy, defensive work and goal line clearances but improving on the negatives of his ball skills, passing and decision making would be a plus.
I have no idea if Morton is the answer but he looks no worse than Sainsbury did when he started.

Duke, Simon, McBreen, - holy cow! What a forward line to add to our midfield of McGlinchey, Montgomery and Hutcho. Just need to nail the defence to the standard we are used to, and we should be solid for next season. The off-season wait will be agony.

I wonder what Kwasnik is thinking right now......

If Kwas can get fit he will still have an important role and will figure next year. He is the one guy in the forward line who can turn up in the right place at the right time to poach a goal.
If Birnie had his far post/near post instincts he would have scored a heap more this year.

Remember the number of goal chances we missed this year due to lack of finishing.

Also don't forget we could lose Birnie and Matt may not be fit. All front line players may be needed.

Interesting future

Pedj can go IMHO

Arnie wouldn't let him go and fail at Sydney if he wasnt confident he had better

His technique is generally poor, will fit right in at Sydney

Morton will be fine.

We also have Caceres to bring in too.

Anyone else go to the pre season friendly v Sydney at the Showground a few seasons ago?

Matty Ryan had a shocker and we left the ground expecting another Trott.

Turned out alright didn't it.

Remember Sainsbury not that long ago? Gave me the heeby jeebies. Mat Ryan's first game? Disaster.

Agree Dibo.
Tesco at RB was horrible on his debut.
Ryan had a horror debut.
Morton has been average on his two runs .....so running a line from that he should be awesome.
Much as Pedj shits me, the truth is we are a better side when he plays...always.
Technically he is shit (like Heff) but no other fullback in HAL is so dangerous or creative.
Love Wilko but not sure if he is a backward step.
I take Simon back in a heartbeat.

Technically shite but so important to our side, especially as our only attacks come via our fullbacks. We never play well without Pedj.
Even when he is terrible he is still dangerous.
