Culina B, Culina J, Kossie, Miron, Lawrie, Ernie, Fergie...
won't be appointed ;)
If Arnie goes will Moss go too? If Moss takes over will it be like Rado at Brisbane?
Will it be Moss and Patrick? I just hope it doesn't happen soon as this is a golden era to be savoured for as long as possible.

Not a bad fee.

Lets see what he wants to do. Massive hole for us but I'm sure we will fill it. Somehow.

I'm really not that doom and gloom. The papers have had us falling apart each season that Arnie has been here, and we have lost around 7 players a season, but we have finished 1 or 2 in each of the seasons. This year I can see us losing up to 9 with Maty, Patrick, Sainsbury, Pellers, Bernie and possibly Hutch going and Oates, Rogic, Troy already gone. We have already brought in Neill, Morton and Fitzgerald.

Ryan will be a loss and losing both Patrick and Trent would leave a hole. However, Pasfield has improved markedly under JC and Zac can cover one of the CB spots. If you bring in Velaphi to train under JC, get Matty back and get an experienced CB to partner Zac I think we would be pretty well sorted. Throw in a couple of squaddies - I'd take Caira and Gibbs as Coastie boys and maybe the CAM trainig with us and the off season is complete.

Caira can f**k right off after he abused us on twitter (and then had to hastily delete it).

The current crop of transfers has that feel about it - I'm not even remotely worried. Everyone knows they are going to go and I just hope we get a decent transfer for them.

I was chatting to my eldest son at the GF about it and really we have Pasfield to replace Ryan, Fitzgerald to replabe Ibini and Anderson to replace Sainsbury. The question is are the next bunch of up and comers able to replace the replacements and push next years first team for selection Based on the coaching staffs history I believe they will. Also I think it essential that we keep Patrick and McBreen to help the new wave of youngsters coming through.

Not happy with the thought of a mass exodus. But understandable with the talent we have. No matter what happens I can't see us following the path of many Championship winners - wooden spooners the next year.

Whoever leaves we will still be very tough to beat: Pasfield; Bojic, Ando, AN Other, Rose; Monty Hutch/ Ollie still presents a formidable barrier. Plus we don't know what surprise Arnie has up his sleeve - we didn't see Monty coming did we?
And the fee converts to be about $500,000, which is reasonable for a non-socceroo, plus hopefully a sell-on clause.

I was mentally prepared to lose Sains, Maty & Ibini straight off. With the likes of the young boys coming through (discussed above) I'm happy we've got the quality to replace them and do it again. Patty & Macca should be re-signed for another year at least too, if Patty wants to that is. Plus there'll be room to recruit.
The real question will be how a new coach would go. I'm still hoping to get to the semis in the ACL so that Arnie goes 'fug it, one more year!'.
The other factor that I'm surprised hasn't come up yet, and I selfishly hope won't for a fair while yet, is McGlinchey. Surely one of the best players in the league is being looked at. Thankfully a fresh 2 year contract keeps his cost up to buy out

OK - didn't see that - I'd be happy with another young CB then. If the Blades are apparently looking at Maty - maybe a loan of Harry Maguire for a couple of season could be part of the deal.

Sheffield United are tailing Central Coast Mariners goalkeeper Mathew Ryan, the Sheffield Telegraph understands.

Australian international Ryan is regarded as one of the hottest young prospects in Australian football, and has had recent trials with Tottenham Hotspur, West Brom and Rangers.

He has also attracted interest from French side Lille, and an un-named Danish club.

But sources in Australia have told this newspaper that the young goalkeeper could soon be invited for a trial with United.

Former United midfielder Nick Montgomery is, of course, currently with the Mariners, and Kevin McCabe is a club director.

United boss Chris Morgan, meanwhile, has backed the club’s youngsters to play a big part in their impending Play-Off campaign: “In the play-offs everyone will have a part to play; we need a good blend of youth and experience, but most of all we need legs,” he said.

United will produce a special 3D programme for Saturday’s game against Preston North End.

I would hope that if Patrick wants to move on to coaching he will still be registered as a player if needed; we have Anderson and possibly Griffiths (both of whom could only benefit from Patrick's coaching) so maybe we will hire a veteran? Simon Colosimo, Lucash Neil

I agree that re signing McBreen and Dutchy would be the smartest move.

Regarding Trent, I'd like Dutchy to convince some other high quality 33 year old Ducth CB he knows, that playing out the last few years in Oz on the coast is a great option. One spot is well covered in Ando. He deserves the lime light of being the best young CB in the HAL next season. Dutchy as cover/coach. Sorted.

I think we would definitely need to bring in another attacking player once Bernie goes.

I also agree on Pasfield, and think we still have a great squad, even with these losses, and for mine, I think we can pretty safely hope for big seasons from Dukey and Caceres in 2013/14.

I also hope Hutch stays.

FP. I have never been a fan of Bernie however since xmas his progression has been noted and now I'm 60/40 in his favor. And with that if it was up to me I would be telling him to stay another year where he will play every week and have people in his corner spending a lot of time on his developement.

encouraging! it's a long off-season but still...

Mariners say they'll keep marquee coach

Newly crowned A-League championship coach Graham Arnold says it's no secret he wants a gig overseas but insists no club has approached him or made an offer.

The Central Coast manager, gleaming with pride after the Mariners' inaugural grand final victory parade through Gosford on Friday, said he was happy to see out the one year left on his contract and dismissed as speculation claims that various Asian and European clubs had expressed interest in him.

"I have not heard anything from anyone - it's all news to me," Arnold said.

"I've got another year at the Mariners and I'm very happy here."

Having finally secured the Mariners' first A-League title on Sunday after losing three previous deciders, Arnold admitted he had no idea about the likelihood of being picked up by a major overseas club.

"I've got the ambition, though. I'm like a young player in Australia that has ambition to play overseas," he said.

"I've been in the Australian set-up, coaching with the national team for 10 years, and now three years here (at the Mariners).

"I've always been someone that wants to challenge myself or test myself.

"I have the ambition one day to coach overseas but whenever that is I don't know."

Central Coast chairman Peter Turnbull says neither he nor the club will stand in the way of Arnold's international pursuit but is hopeful of holding onto the 49-year-old for another year.

"I think we'll keep him," Turnbull told AAP.

"I think he'll stay but we'll have to wait and see what he decides to do after that.

"Arnie wants to be a pioneer as a coach like he was as a player.

"He wants to be an Australian coach, coaching the top level of world football - that's what he wants, that's his ambition. We'll basically support him when that time comes."

Asked about the importance of keeping Arnold to nurture the side's younger prospects, Turnbull admitted the coach played a key part in their future.

"The thing about the Mariners is they've got a marquee coach and we give Australian youth the opportunity to shine," he said.

"Our squad for next year will be fantastic.

"But how similar it will be to this year's title-winning team is unknown."

While no offers had been made, Turnbull confirmed there had been expressions of interest from major European clubs in at least three players - defender Trent Sainsbury, goalkeeper Mat Ryan and striker Bernie Ibini.

Off the field, the Mariners will be without inaugural chief executive John McKay, who was let go by new owner Mike Charlesworth this week as part of refocusing the club.

Part of that new direction will be reconnecting with fans, Turnbull said, including through community forums.

"Everyone loves winners and we've got to really take advantage of our success - hopefully get more members and people through the gates," Arnold said.

That mission begins on Tuesday, with Turnbull announcing that tickets for the Mariners' final Asian Champions League group home match against Japan's Kashiwa Reysol at Bluetongue Stadium had been slashed to $10.

It came shortly after the chairman told the 7000-strong crowd that the cash-strapped Mariners were debt-free.

"Our bills have been paid. We have settled today with the tax office and the Mariners are now here to stay," Turnbull said.
