Yep if we loose Sainsbury or McGlinchy would be perfect. Cheap, quality & Asian. Would help get another deal like our water mob last time.

The Chinese restaurant in the leagues club could be his match day sponsor.

Only problems is do we need another striker? Can he play right wing?

I think tonight's game really showed up how we missed the players that left last season and that we haven't done enough to replace them. On top of that Wee-Mac, Sainsbury and Duke are all likely not to be here past the end of the season at the latest. Mossy has a huge football job to do in the next 6 months. He not only needs to keep us competitive buts needs to add a deal of quality to the squad that simply isn't there or won't be there.

By the end of the season I think we will lose through transfers non-resigning and retirements Pasfield, Sainsbury, McBreen, Flores, McGlinchey, Sterjovski and Duke. Leaving us with Reddy, Rose, Neill, Seip, Griffiths, Anderson, Roux, Morton, Montgomery, Hutchinson, Caceres, Fitzgerald, Slater, Simon, Kwasnik plus Kalik and Rose with maybe the last two and Slater outside the 23 and cap as youngsters. This is not a squad that will send shivers through opposition teams.

That will leave us 6-9 spots available and to be honest up to 7 have to be first team players.

I was hopeful that Justin would step up to replace Maty but that sadly didn't happen and Reddy is not a No 1 keeper for a team that wants to compete at the top echelon. And as much as I like Flores in attack he does not suit us in defence at all so the positions we need/ will need are mostly right down the s[ine

GK - the Maty replacement
CB - the Sainbury replacemet
CB - the Patrick replacement
CAM - the Rogic/Flores replacement
LAM - the Bozanic. McGlinchey replacement
RAM - the Bernie replacement
CS - the McBreen replacement

This is going to be a huge test for Mossy, but also for MC. Arnie and Turnbull were great at pushing the COE to attract players but are the facilities the attraction it was without Arnie to complement them and is MC as passionate in his sales pitch as Peter Turnbull.

This:goodpost:.

It is great to develop youngsters and expect them to move on to better things. However, you must hold a bunch of them long enough, together with a group of good old heads, to develop an understanding good enough to win a prem/champ. It really needs a lot of things to line up well at just the right time to happen.

To do this requires some excellent early career scouting, having a club to which they want to come, great coaching and a hell of a lot of timing.

Hopefully the cycles will not be too far apart.

We need a striker that can put away the chances presented to him.
McBreen won the Golden Boot purely because he had the most chances presented to him.(please correct me if I`m wrong)
In the past two games he has missed at least 3 "sitters" that any quality striker would have scored, & scored 1 that he has similarly attempted & missed on numerous occasions.

These missed opportunities are killing us!

Would Adelaide have come back from 1 or 2 down? I think not.
We`re not as good as last year due to the withdrawals so we can`t rely on creating lots of chances like last year.
A clinical finisher would definitely help us.

McBreen's GB was out of character and unlikely to be repeated.
We need a striker who is going to be pushing for the golden boot every season. A guaranteed 12-15 goals every year.
Also it has to be an older guy. If it is a youth we have developed we will lose him overseas.
Chances in front of goal are precious and not to be wasted.

McBreen had an off game after having only recently returned from time away in a different league, i expect we'll be singing his praises again very soon

we really can't afford to lose McGlinchey or Sainsbury at the moment. i don't see a lot of say in it though

With all the turmoil around the Glory at the moment I would take these three players in a heartbeat:
Thwaite
Vukovic
Zahra
I'm pretty sure they are all in the Ali out camp so hopefully Sage backs the manager and they become available in January just in time for our own annual exodus. I normally wouldn't touch a player that has been involved in a dressing room rebellion but Ali and Sage were always asking for trouble by signing the two Edwards boys.

certainly cant blame Wee Mac for wanting to make the move, I assume a hefty pay increase will come along with this.
Regardless of how much I like Arnie and what he has done for our club, I cant help but feel bitter about this.
It's going to be a tough season and even tougher ACL campaign me thinks

damn.
also can't blame McGlinchey, he deserves it and it was always coming. in many ways I'm impressed we'd kept him as long as we did.
scary though, the team is only 3/4 the team without him

Probably, but Kwassy is a Mariners' icon and can poach.
Kwassie might poach you 2-3 goals but to be honest he is turning into a new Nik Mrdja.
Sadly injuries in the past 18months have put paid to Kwassie`s career.
With all due respect he should follow Brad Porter`s lead & put the club first.

No pay rise. It's a f**king loan move.

I'm sorry but this is the straw that broke the camels back for me. He is our most important player & we are prepared to loan him out?
This is the single most ridiculous thing that's happened in our time.

MC can stand on his head & fall through his arse as far as I'm concerned.
