Things have changed a lot over the years, but one thing has remained constant and that is our love of the Mariners. People come and go, some like to post a lot and others just like to read. It's up to you how you participate in the community!

If posting is not your thing, you can interact in other ways, including voting on polls, and unlock options only available to community members.

ccmfans.net is not only for Mariners fans either. Most of us are bonded by our support for the Mariners, but if you are a fan of another club (except the Scum, come on, we need some standards), feel free to join and get into some banter.

Lawrie just announced that Tommy has pulled the pin on Rangers.

Uncertainty over what division they will play in next season.

The plot thickens

GrA: "admit I think we can cope with losing 2 or 3 of the young guys and keep up the charge for titles. Any more than that, i.e. Hutch, Olly etc., as well and we would probably be in trouble."

"Six could leave Central Coast Mariners in January transfer window

CENTRAL Coast Mariners could be decimated in the January transfer window, with the potential departure of up to six players.

While interest in Tom Rogic (Celtic) and Matt Ryan (Randers, Denmark) is known, the Mariners were yesterday stunned to have received an offer - believed to be more than $350,000 - for striker Bernie Ibini from Belgium's Club Brugge.

And cashed-up Asian clubs are eyeing off top scorer Daniel McBreen, veteran John Hutchinson and crafty midfielder Oliver Bozanic."

I agree with Universal. Mind you I don't expect anyone to like it, and I think we will need to cut a bit of slack to anyone who goes on a bit of a rant. If in time it also proves to scuppers our title chase and ACL campaign, no mistaking, it WILL HURT BAD. And we will also have to put up with all the firesale, what a rubbish club comments you read.

However, reality is reality and we can still choose how we respond even in the face of adverse conditions. It's what I expect of my team, seems reasonable to expect it of myself as a fan.

The club is not trying to screw us. They never have. We have a wonderful club. There is enormous evidence of this. They will still come up short sometimes, everyone does.

As to clubs "handling" I try to read most of the related press and I don't see the issue? Unfortunately, they can't come out and say "we're directly opposed to being raped in January and we vow to fight it." What they can say is, "it's challenging... difficult etc..." with the only plus's being "we are happy for the players" stance, trying to establish a good rep as a leading development pathway for players and how much coin they make. They're doing this.

Nor can they be more transparent about transfers etc, as no deal is ever done till it's done and they'd be fools to be coming out and saying 6 players are as good as gone and our seasons f**ked before it's even happened.

I hate being in limbo ond decisions. I can only imagine how agonising these transfer windows are for any number of clubs.

On the money side... our players are being approached, if they want to go, we contractually can't stop them.
So I think the clubs position is pretty simple on this, they want to keep their best players, but if they are determined to go, then the only thing left to them is to try to get the best coin they can for the benefit of the club.

Or... as we have experienced before, they are selling players because due to our financial realities they have no choice. And that's just the business of modern sports and survival. No point taking it personally. Though yep, if you love you team/club. It's always going to hurt.

We are Mariners. We should just come to expect pain in the January window in the interests of it being more bareable/enjoyable.

The plus side, beside some coin and staying solvent, which is a decent plus :) if the only way I get to see more of Duke, Griffiths and Caceres, I'll enjoy that. And football wise, as others have stated, the most important piece of our puzzle is GA. Use Tommy's transfer money to sign him for another 3 please.

For me, I've only just got my head around the idea of losing a player or two mid-season to keep the club going; the thing that shocked me a bit was the possibility of half our team (6+ players) being snapped up mid-season.

FP I have to slightly disagree with "the most important piece of our puzzle is GA." - I rate fitness guru Clarkey as being up there, at least on a par with GA. Under Lawrie I can't remember being able to field the same team 2 weeks in a row too often, due to injuries - slight knocks, strains, etc. When we actually did get a stable squad we dominated. Not to take anything away from GA, but being able to pick from basically the whole squad, and having that stability on the park week to week has definitely helped.

If we do end up losing players I'll understand the motives, but will still be a bit grumpy! I think it's a short term solution (as in years, not short term as in months) to keep the club going without the owners having to keep pumping coin into a losing venture (funny how easy it is to tell other people how to spend their money...), until the club can sustain itself with TV and COE money.

Either way we look at it, we're probably the most successful team in the A-League, and I'd rather be in our position than that of a team that spunks millions of dollars away every year, cheating their way through to their currently lofty position of LAST on the table.
