*shudders at the thought of how much that must have hurt*

I'll be honest...I'd cry like a little girl if I did that to my ankle....that hurts looking at it.

when you do something big, sometimes it hurts so much your brain floods you with endorphins and you don't feel it.

a few years back when i rolled my ankle and popped three ligaments at training, my coach said he knew i'd f**ked it up nicely when i said it didn't hurt anymore. that was a season-ending injury.

unfortunately when i did my ankle in last year, i could feel it (and the injury was much worse... go figure).

The scent of alcohol on Willie Mason's breath has sparked another beer-soaked drama for the NRL.

Mason and fellow enforcer Nate Myles were sensationally axed by the Roosters on Monday after both confessed to drinking on a non-sanctioned day.

Their sacking came as the Bulldogs opened investigations into a punch-up between teen stars Ben Barba and Jamal Idris on Saturday night.

Having just overcome the controversy surrounding hooker Jake Friend's drink-driving charge, the Roosters were again reeling on Monday night.

"They've let down their coach, they've let down their mates," coach Brad Fittler said as he announced that Mason and Myles will turn out for NSW Cup feeder side Newtown this Saturday afternoon at Morrie Breen Oval, Gorokan, on the Central Coast.

The Daily Telegraph has learned that coach Brad Fittler's suspicions were raised when he smelt alcohol on Mason's breath during a morning field session at Moore Park on Monday.

The scent prompted Fittler to ask his entire side if they had consumed alcohol the previous day, which was deemed off-limits to alcohol in accordance with the club's strict policy that only allows players to drink the day after a match.

Myles confessed straight away, leaving Fittler with no choice but to axe both representative stars.

The club - and particularly Fittler - is furious because both are senior players.

They are especially livid with Mason, who they rallied around on Sunday after reports surfaced the club wanted to push him out after this season.

Fittler later revealed that both players had "a few beers" inside their respective houses on Sunday afternoon while watching the football on TV.

"I'm disappointed - given the circumstances," Fittler said. "The Roosters have been in the headlines lately and the club is under a lot of scrutiny.

"The scrutiny is sometimes unfair given the innuendo in the papers, the media and the general public. We try to make our discipline as tough as we can so that players don't become the subject of such innuendo.

"There wasn't a lot of venom in what they did. They had a couple of beers in their own homes. But the club has installed a discipline code for a reason and we'll apply it equally whether you are an international or a young bloke coming through."

David Shillington - who has since joined Canberra -- was the only previous player to be axed for drinking on the wrong day. He also played for Newtown the following weekend, before bouncing back to first grade.

Roosters CEO Steve Noyce said the club appreciated both players' honesty in admitting to breaking the rules.

"We've got to keep the facts in mind here -- they were honest and the club has been pro-active and transparent in standing them down.

"They made a bad choice and they knew what the price would be."

Having lost two of their opening three games and conceded 96 points, the Roosters face Parramatta at the SFS on Friday night.

Todd Carney... again lololol

http://www.news.com.au/technology/story/0,28348,25271314-5014239,00.html

TELSTRA has been forced to apologise after full-frontal photographs of scandal-prone league player Todd Carney ended up on a rental phone in Canberra.

Louise Hallam, 23, was stunned to find the photos left on a second-hand Samsung handset lent to her by a Telstra shop while her own handset was being repaired.

After picking up the handset on Saturday, Ms Hallam said she looked through the phone's memory and was stunned to find the clearly recognisable photos of Carney, posing in lewd photographs.

"I was shocked at the fact that Telstra gave me a phone that had, well, basically pornography on it," Ms Hallam said yesterday.

"I thought they would have at least filtered the phone or cleared the memory. I was upset when I saw it, and then I realised who it was."

Carney confirmed he had used a Nokia handset to take the explicit images of himself in front of the bathroom mirror while home alone late one night at his Goulburn home "about six months ago".

"She'd asked me to take them before ... I don't want to go back to that night though," he said.

Carney said he was at a loss as to how the photos ended up on the handset, but speculated they may have been forwarded by an unknown person who picked up the Nokia handset he lost in January.

"They're the only ones like that that I ever took, so it must be them," he said yesterday.

He said he succumbed to the girl's multiple requests for a photo, eventually sending those he had stored on his phone.

"She sent me a photo then I sent her some back. Obviously it's the photos in the wrong hands now."

Carney's manager David Riolo yesterday claimed an anonymous woman had attempted to blackmail him over the pictures yesterday.

Ms Hallam said she never contacted Mr Riolo asking for money and has never met Carney.

A Telstra spokesman yesterday confirmed a handset had been lent to Ms Hallam and said the telco would investigate why personal data was not deleted.

If Carney has half a brain (ok - correct that to his manager), he will be having a chat with the Privacy Commissioner and going Telstra for some $$

indeed - i'm about to get a phone simply assessed for damage and repairs by my telco and was told tht the assessment would wipe all data so i should make a backup.

if assessing for damage wipes it, surely they'd wipe it anytime it got loaned and returned?

They are supposed to.

....assuming that what Carney said happened, actually happened.

Possible he was using a loaner after losing his phone and decided to leave a memento of his use of it? Still, the data and images should have been wiped off the phone.

Or, an April Fool's Day prank? :-\

If telstra didnt say they would wipe it it is his fault. Though if you are taking photos of yourself, especially if semi famous, you would be an idiot to not delete them

Of course, if this had been at the football it would have been beaten up as a 'soccer riot'.

Having been stuck in that God-forsaken hell hole of a car park after an A-league match, I wouldn't blame anyone for punching on... lol
