Plz don't be changing my quotes kkthx

on the western side people were clapping the boys off once the refs had gone

Can confirm, boos on the west were mainly for the refs.  Fans stayed to clap the players off.

I think you guys have the rose coloured glasses on. Come full time, my assessment was that the initial boo was for the shit performance we all endured (again). The boos reached a crescendo when that c**t Breeze departed the scene. Those fans that initially booed got up and left, the remainder stayed to give the boys a clap. Dont kid yourselves, there was a lot of booing for the Mariners at full time.

Awesome, hangover makes everything seem like a nightmare. I will continue in this state of denial for at least 8 days!

Travis and Wee Mac are very much confidence players. Without it, they stink the joint up.

Think LM got the subs wrong last night. Clark was being torn a new one, and i felt he could have gone at half time. Panni should have come on for Bojic (waste of space atm) and flooded the midfield. It would have left us with 2 very small CB in Lewis and Porter but hey, we would have been very attacking and sometimes you need to throw caution to the wind. It would have also given us alot more time on the ball and provided Travis and Wee Mac with the chance to regain what has been lost.

Simons removal was called for but the wrong guy was on the bench to replace him. Don't care if he scored 2 weeks ago or how he played in yoof, Big Mac's future is not at this club and he shouldn't even come into consideration. Now that January is here hopefully we wont have to put up with that any longer. Hello Jonathon Brown.

Something stinks at the Mariners right now and its not just our form. I get the feeling that the team does not have that Mariners spirit right now. The spirit that we saw early last year when even while 3 down you were just waiting, knowing that something was going to happen that would make it a contest again.

Its time for a change people.

Dreams for 2010-2011

1. A Striker

2. A shed over the bay behind the goals and the re-emergance of the behind the goal marinators

3. The re-signing of Travis

4. A new coach with LM to go upstairs.

There is only so much end of season drop offs i can take. There has to be a point in time where it is said that maybe LM doesn't have what it takes to carry the CCMFC to being the place where all good prospects want to come.

In all reality we are trying to set ourselves up to be the Arsenal of the A-League. A place where kids come to further their careers knowing that they will be taught the ins and outs of total football while getting exsposure to first team along the way.

Does anyone think that LM can be the Arsene Wenger of the A-League? I love the guy but its time for the Mariners to evolve. We have the players this year to be playing at the front of the A-League. We have more depth than at any point in our history. How did we fall from being the destroyer of the favourites, to being the favourites for the spoon?

Strange game I thought.  When we have been at our best is when we play fast aggressive Football.  We have NO tempo to our game now....we are slow and tentative.

Our defence was disorganised at times.  Our midfield was second to the ball far too often and sit too deep and our strikers were poor.  We didn't overlap on the left and Bojic's penalty would have shamed a headless chicken.
Having said that we really could have got a win out of that game....don't laugh its true.  Simon could have had a penalty and missed a sitter.  Mrdja was unlucky with the first free kick. WeeMac could easily have had a couple and Hutch wasted a good chance.
The penalty was tragic and Iffil's second could have been held out by a decent defender.

Redmayne 7.  Couple of great saves.  Made me nervous at times but looks like a decent shot stopper.
Porter 7.  Much better effort.  Defended quite well and goal line clearance was excellent.  Crosses were much better.
Bojic 5.5    Frustrating player.
Wilko 7.  Solid and actually drove forward with purpose on a couple of occasions.  Tried to lead by example.
Clarke 6.  Tackled well but doesn't link with midfield very well.  Probably would have stopped the 2nd goal.
Hutch 6.  Lacked drive but did try.
WeeMac 6.  Did some good things but missed 2 good changes.  Needs to step up.
Crowell 7.5.  MOM.  Did well defensively and showed gumption.  Needs shooting practice.
Travis 5.5.  First touch was very poor for some reason. Still made a couple of nice passes but his worst game so far. Whinged alot
Simon 5.5.  Poor.  Worst i've seen him play.
Mrdja  6.5  OK.  Don't want to see him here next year but went OK and was better than simon.

Great to see Panni get on and don't play Lewis at LB again please.

Clarke was horrible. Definitely not a 6 IMO. He is past it and how LM sees him as an option at all is beyond me.

Would he get a start  (or a spot of pine) at any other club?

Agree with majority of assesments exception being Wee Mac. I lost count of how many times he lost the ball in the middle of the park. Don't get me wrong love the guy a super talent but off to the shithouse at the moment like a lot of others!

Football can be a cruel game; my heart goes out to Lawrie McKinna. We can all have our doubts about him from time to time but there is absoloutely no doubt he bleeds the Mariners more than any of us. He must be really hurting right now. At the end of the ACL changes were made within the restrictions on money to spend and existing contracts;  He realised that to shore up the team's defence and to bring back confidence he needed a kick ass centreback who was a leader on the pitch. He got one in Doig. Sadly he came with a reputation as being injury prone and that reputation is now enhanced. McKinna reacted to the criticism of a lack of skill and brought in McGlinchey and Travis, he has been rewarded by both. Also the Youth team was restructured and last night three regular members played - Redmayne, Lewis and Nikas. In short, McKinna has done a lot of things right and it is quite possible a lack of money stopped him  getting the likes of Fowler or Ifill. Right now luck is against him and it may be too much to ask to turn around the momentum. As I said, football can be cruel.
The team is two players away from being real contenders (that's how close this comp is) - Doig and the striker who can turn a game. We may get Doig back but will have to wait til next year (if ever) for the other. By then a HAL record of six wins in 26 games may just see Lawrie changing roles within the organisation.

The good news is (and I have been sweating on this) that Lara got her Aston Martin back.  :innocent:

I agree he's been off the boil for a few weeks. One of the reasons for that IMO is that he's seen by other teams as our midfield lynchpin. It seems to me that he's being double-teamed for a lot of the time, and also being muscled off the ball by bigger blokes. He doesn't seem to be able to get clear as often as he did early on. Don't know what the answer is, maybe a big guy in the middle to lend him a bit of muscle.

We started the game with our reserve keeper playing his first game of the season; a player who is regularly described on these pages as 'not a full back'; a midfield player at centre back and a right footed fitness coach who should have retired last season at left back (replaced by a left sided midfielder who is 'not a full back') - didn't really show a lot of promise did it? As it was Redmayne did very well and Porter was excellent, neither Caceres or Bertos could get past him, and a great headed clearance off the line. Bojic was a fish out of water (don't know if anyone picked this up but after the game Wilko described the penalty as 'stupid'), Wilko was solid and made some good runs. Clark was woeful and Lewis is an attacking player not a defender. Our midfield went completely missing which is why it is hard to criticise the strikers too much. The team never operated as a unit just three separate parts. Mrdja worked his socks off, battled hard and was our only striker but any of our strikers will find it hard to score with the backs almost permanently to the goal - Mrdja free kicks excepted and Simon's miss-his ability to miss open goals is now getting really tedious. It was probably one of Simon's worst games but McAllister made him look good. What I liked about Lewis and Nikas is that both are confident in their own ability; Lewis is not a full back but he is utterly unafraid to have a go and Nikas' body language just said "I belong at this level".

When even the NZ commentator reckons Matty should have received a penalty in the first half, you know that Breeze is not an unbiased official.

From my view up the other end, it looked like Pedj went through from behind. If so, stupid is a nice description really.

Good summation

Great to hear people were being threatened by other "fans" for speaking up against the shit that happened after the game and defending the team.

Just watched the highlights and can someone please explain why Matty was booked?

In real time to me it did look like he stomped on him on the way past, admittedly it did happen pretty quick.  I assume Breeze thought the same.  On any kind of replay it was damn obvious it shouldn't have been a card though

It was one of those incidents where Breeze appeared to dish out the card based on McKain's actions after the challenge rather than on what actually happened.

Is it somehow possible to find out whether Breeze and the token linesman are game officials before buying tickets?
