Bring in the womens team for the next match.
They must have bigger balls and put on a better display than that.

Watching a re run of the game - first 30 odd minutes - Mrdja incorrectly given offside when clean through; McGlinchey header should have scored; Hutchinson through but elected to turn and then shot straight at Reddy; Mrdja free kick very very close; Mrdja through, shot blocked by Reddy; McGlinchey shot blocked by Lochhead - that's six should have been/might have been goals any one of which would have changed the outcome of the game. It's been pretty much that story in each of the five losses. The other side of the coin is that Lawrie has now coached us to just 6 wins in 32 games in twelve months and only one win at Bluetongue - can't see many managers surviving those sort of statistics no matter how unlucky.

wow, surely the board have to do something about this in the next month or so, imho these are the options:
-utilise link with sheffield bring in quality players on loan
-buy some quality players
-sack mckinna and use tony walmsey as a short term replacement
-sack mckinna and get a quality manager (not arnold!!!!)
because those kind of statistics just should not happen in any sport

Agree I wouldnt be looking forward to seeing my boss with numbers that bad but what is the point of change for change sake?

A knee jerk, panic reaction would cause more instability and whilst it seems obvious that changes might be afoot, I expect LG/PT will take a long term strategic view.

Personally I am resigned to a season or 2 of struggle and pain watching players who have been left behind by the HAL as we rebuild.

Go through our squad and how many would get a starting spot at GCU, SFC, MV etc? Not many.

Personally, I would consign large chunks of the squad to the dust bin of history and start to blood youngsters now in readiness for next season. Sure we will get tonked a few times (no change there then) but at least they will be keen and have a go.

Be careful about quoting statistics. It was only a few weeks ago when some media pundits were tipping us to win the comp. We're only a couple of wins out of the top six and if we finish there at the end of the season then who knows... we may be a big chance to win the "post-season cup".

Changing the coach now would be a disaster. We have Jonathan Brown waiting in the wings and one or two "tweaks" in Jan might very well see us get our hunger back.

Do you think the legendary Ivor Biggun wrote this song about Mr Breeze?

I agree with that.

But I also think we have a couple of players in Travis and McGlinchey that could get a start in any A-League side that we ,for whatever reason, are not getting the most out of.

Our directors have a real dilemma in what to do about the coaching position. As stated elsewhere LM bleeds the Mariners and is a perfect fit in terms of his ability to relate to the fans, local kids and the media etc. He's the perfect public figure.

But in a coaching sense I think he's done as much as he can and it's time for a change at the end of this season imo.I'm sure there is a position elsewhere in the club for him.Much will depend on LM's own attitude to this.

I think most fans realise change is required.I'd be very surprised if the men in charge weren't thinking the same.

all this, especially the bold bit.

there's surely going to be another cleanout similar to the end of last season where a number of players won't be returning and we'll be seeking to better use the cap space they've vacated. good use of young players is a must - they're cheap, effective and they (with luck) improve over time.

we're already seeing a few kids coming through - lewis and nikas for a start but also sherlock, smith and probably dukic and ormsby will be floating around the mix.

as they've played with a number of the seniors they get how we play and can bring something to the side straight away. we've got to cop a few mistakes and a few moments of immaturity perhaps (lewis not taking responsibility for his area of the penalty area allowing ifill to dance on in unimpeded is one example) but it's a project aimed at winning the toilet seat either next season (if lucky) or perhaps the season after.

We also need to see if they can step up and the only way to find out is to play them. If they cant then we know what holes to fill off season.

Don't think we can play the youth guys unless they are part of the squad. Which means injury replacements or releasing dead wood.

A few of the players aren't eligible for Youth league next season, so Lawrie and the possibly departing youth players are forced with an ultimatum really before the end of the season. Going by form I doubt lawrie will blood any more youth players before the end of the season as the desperation for points to get in the finals grow. Its just his style.
