Things have changed a lot over the years, but one thing has remained constant and that is our love of the Mariners. People come and go, some like to post a lot and others just like to read. It's up to you how you participate in the community!

ccmfans.net is not only for Mariners fans either. Most of us are bonded by our support for the Mariners, but if you are a fan of another club (except the Scum, come on, we need some standards), feel free to join and get into some banter.

. i've mentioned that exact thing to a number of people in comparison
It was Holger guys (and gal). I remember Sains having a crack about having to do the Skillion run as part of his training with the Soceroos squad and tongue in cheek saying he's never done anything like that in his senior career when interviewed by the media. Never got a look in under Holger again and was told his body language was poor or something along those lines. Awful manager.

My analogy was the way Gumps was treated in his final years with us. Quality player and absolute crowd favourite but obviously did something to piss Lawrie off and couldn't buy a start. Also some shenanigans re him getting starts towards the end of a season so a contract renewal wasn't triggered.

That battle of Lawrie v Gumpey was the beginning of the end for McKinna. Fans are not stupid.

If Mulvey continued to try to freeze out Tommy, while we continued to lose....he would be toast.

Thankfully he has got his shit together, selection and training wise, and hopefully tomorrow we will continue to move forward.

Yes my bad, wrong Euro Coach.

& concur on McKinna/Gumps.

Gumpy SHOULD'VE started over Lawrie's 'love child' .... Hutcho, ditto Tommy P for Greg Owens !!

Bridge scored at 64 mins. If only both Gumps & TommyP had been subbed on much earlier (70min both) in that 08 Scum GF
... would have been a completely different story imo.

Lawrie's bad decisions robbed himself & us of that possible first GF. :(
- & also robbed Vuka of yeaaaar's from missing out on the Olympics.

I have changed my vote.

I stand by all my past criticisms, however I see lots of improvement in the team's play and his selections under what are very difficult circumstances.
It seems to me that he came in very under prepared with a somewhat naive idea of what he was taking on.
I think some of his initial impressions have been turned around, thankfully.
If the improvement continues and he gets the re-signings correct, maybe we can have some stability at last.

Completely agree, and your former position was merited too.

I tell you what i have noticed about Mulvey, he is now actually off his arse and prowling the technical area...something he never did up till just recently

We've been looking much better than we did in December, IMO partly due to some player changes and partly from settling in to a formation that suits us and sticking with it. I voted out but now think it's worth seeing the season through. Still not sure about next season but let's see what else happens in the transfer window and how the results are for the rest of the season. If he does stay for next season I would expect his recruitment to be much better now he has a better appreciation of the league's standard. It'll mean MC investing but also better use of the funds we have been spending.

I think a lot will be with the resigning of those few quality players.

If the rumour of millar leaving is true then he will already be on the back foot.

Spoke to a player after training today and they said they’re just hitting their strides now. Mentioned the bolt saga & the departure of Ross really stuffed their preseason / start to season. Felt like only since sfc away they’re playing like a proper team and I tend to agree.

Can’t blame mulvey for either problems. #mulveyin

I’m back to Mulvey in.

For the obvious improvements but I also think many a lesser Manager would have crumbled in these past few weeks, and he’s dug in, taken responsibility and we’re clearly building despite all the obstacles.

Tommy H being the only caveat, I’m also pretty impressed by what appears to be his man management. Very hard to keep a side that’s going through what we have in decent morale and get them to see the course. Think he did the right thing with standing Cisse down also.

I just hope he appreciates we desperately need a better keeper than Kennedy, and is keen to fix some of our other key weaknesses.
