ccmfans.net is the Central Coast Mariners fan community, and was formed in 2004, so basically the beginning of time for the Mariners. Things have changed a lot over the years, but one thing has remained constant and that is our love of the Mariners. People come and go, some like to post a lot and others just like to read. It's up to you how you participate in the community!

If you want to get rid of this message, simply click on Join Now or head over to https://www.ccmfans.net/community/register/ to join the community! It only takes a few minutes, and joining will let you post your thoughts and opinions on all things Mariners, Football, and whatever else pops into your mind. If posting is not your thing, you can interact in other ways, including voting on polls, and unlock options only available to community members.

ccmfans.net is not only for Mariners fans either. Most of us are bonded by our support for the Mariners, but if you are a fan of another club (except the Scum, come on, we need some standards), feel free to join and get into some banter.

More "Home" games not at Home.....

An NRL club on the Coast would just about do the Mariners in I reckon.

If the Bears (or whoever) get their back office together and hoover up local sponsors, game over CCM.
And then its off to watch lightning every week!

CCBears would not come into the competition until 2013. CCM still have 2 good years to get on the good sides of the media and the community. The sport needs to be promoted better locally. The local clubs needs just as much promotion as the local NRL clubs... NRL clubs get full media sponsorship, with radio advertisments, cash, signage at grounds etc etc.

To get the community involved more in the game, you've gotta make the game more popular on a one-on-one level, and locally.

Just sayin'.

I just can't see it happening. It's about as hot a myth as the Gosford marina and ferry terminal. CC have had this carrot hung infront for what seems like an eternity.

For the good of the game there must be a league side on the central coast  ::)

If the CCBears did come into the NRL, would they move games to other grounds due to the laying of new turf at Bluetonge ?
I think not.

So, anyone else still not had the courtesy of a reply?

I got a reply from John McKay which said in part
"There has been no suggestion of any likelihood we could have games in Canberra again, but like you, the club is aware of some of the hearsay which tends to circulate among Members and supporters.

Running a Football club has challenges unique only to this type of venture, and one of those is that it is an emotionally charged industry. When key stakeholders, such as supporters, are so passionately attached to the product, it is very easy for rationale to be lost in that emotion.

The Mariners remain fully committed to servicing the local community, and, should the possibility of Bluetongue Stadium being made unavailable to the club, we will work as hard as we can to ensure the best possible outcome for Members and supporters."

so not really a reply with anything of substance....other than to say they (the club) haven't said any games would be moved to Canberra......

Servicing the community?

This isn't a service to be provided to the highest bidder. There's loyalty and trust at stake as well, not simply selling nights out where we're competing simply with nights at the movies or dinner and dancing.

If it were, people might not have been so tolerant of dreck like we saw at the end of the last season.

No, because thugby does not require a nice pitch. They do not need a flat surface to play on as the game is contended around a metre above ground level. Please do not take this as condescending, many people are mislead by the unhelpful label given to the sport of 'football', implying that it is actually played on the ground with feet. Alas this is not the case and remains high on the list of grammatical gaffes in the English language. Thank you for your time

I can feel a DV 14 page, 4,000 word wiki article about the origins of the game and how the names were derived.

Quick, run while you can

DV's too busy talking up the virtues of ultranationalism in response to the communist menace to bother with hogans like us.

I have seen posts on here about a letter from Lyall and a survey being put in the mail. I am/was a current member (when does membership expire?) but I didn't receive anything.
I was away on holiday since the beginning of the month, but for the purposes of membership my address is a po box. The correspondence should have been in my box (don't be rude :) ) when I returned. Not happy Jan.

It was an email from CCM Membership which included a survey.

. this is the sort of hairsplitting double talk which is pissing people off. this quoted from lyall's letter:

"With no alternative playing venue on the Central Coast and with further turf rectification works planned by Gosford Council during 2010 this will continue to create challenges for the Club next season."

. i think that is a pretty clear indication of the likelihood of games being moved ... hardly hearsay when the bloody chairman sent the letter ... he didn't specifically say games would be moved but he was certainly fanning the fires

. technically McKay is correct in that lyall has not mentioned Canberra (no more money there i'd suggest) but with the chairman basically conceeding defeat to the council is there any surprise people are talking about it
