ccmfans.net is the Central Coast Mariners fan community, and was formed in 2004, so basically the beginning of time for the Mariners. Things have changed a lot over the years, but one thing has remained constant and that is our love of the Mariners. People come and go, some like to post a lot and others just like to read. It's up to you how you participate in the community!

If you want to get rid of this message, simply click on Join Now or head over to https://www.ccmfans.net/community/register/ to join the community! It only takes a few minutes, and joining will let you post your thoughts and opinions on all things Mariners, Football, and whatever else pops into your mind. If posting is not your thing, you can interact in other ways, including voting on polls, and unlock options only available to community members.

ccmfans.net is not only for Mariners fans either. Most of us are bonded by our support for the Mariners, but if you are a fan of another club (except the Scum, come on, we need some standards), feel free to join and get into some banter.

I had a thought (no jokes on that please)..... Maybe there weren't and concession memberships offered for children to discourage them from sitting in Bay 16, with all the rowdyness, swearing & all?

that's a reasonable explanation for no kids prices, but not for no student or other concessions.

What age limit do you put on a student ticket thou dibo? 18? I guess 12 year olds are students too? Where is the line drawn?

it's nothing to do with age at all - if you're a full time student you're eligible. if that means 12 year olds, then so be it. the test is on capacity to pay, not age.

would it be of any use?!

More use than 14 pages of crying on an internet forum id say

people have put down their opinions explaing why they think (or don't think) the no concessions stance is a bad idea. if that's just pointless crying about it, then we might as well shut the forum down.

i'd be very surprised if the club doesn't have someone checking these things over and seeing what the various reactions are - it's the cheapest market research they could do.

All sounds like you are a Uni student who is pissed off at not getting their usual seat at concession rates, and then trying to justify your outrage. ;) ;D

Talk to the club first I'd say, let them know you are not happy.

Or introduce a condition that states if you qualify for a discounted student pass you can't purchase alcohol in the ground! :naughty:

Surplusses in good ecomomic times should have been far greater while howard was in office. As well as should not have been entirely related to selling off public assets. Remove telstra and there is little surplus over the entire reign.

It is only good economics to have big surplusses in strong growth times, and small surplusses to deficits in low growth times. It is just simple economics.

The problem is the economy is fragmented with states like WA in full steam ahead mode, and states like VIC and NSW stuck floundering without the resource boom.

Who said lake of infrastructure investment over the past 10 years....?

Early Bird Membership offer ends todayFriday, 4 July 2008

Central Coast Mariners New and returning Central Coast Mariners Members have until close of business today to sign up for the Hyundai A-League 2008/09 season in order to secure their exclusive season four Mariners calendar.

Over 2,500 Members have already joined the Mariners at the Frontline of Support for their Hyundai A-League Premiership defence, but only those that sign up before 5pm today (Friday, 4 July), will receive the exclusive Early Bird Members calendar.

"We are excited by just how many new and existing Mariners Members have joined us at the Frontline of Support and we of course would like to welcome many more before the beginning of the new season," said Mariners Executive Chairman Lyall Gorman.

"All those that have signed up already will receive their exclusive Early Bird Members calendar and I urge all Members that have yet to renew, or supporters of the Mariners that are not yet Members to sign up by close of business today in order to receive this fantastic product. The best way to sign up quickly is via our online Membership system."

For those Members already signed up for the upcoming season, Membership cards that will be used for entry to Mariners matches at Bluetongue Stadium, will be distributed in time for the Mariners 2008 Pre-Season Cup match against Sydney FC on Saturday, 27 July.

Mariners Memberships for the Hyundai A-League 2008/09 season are now on sale at www.ccmariners.com.au.

Interesting how they post it on the web site on the day it finishes. A little warning might actual motivate a few people.

2500 members now.

Membership cards to be distributed before preseason home game (i.e. before 27 July).

Membership price rises too early. Expand loyal supporter base first. A lot of members now when it's cheap. Get 'em in. Play the slow con.
We could kill a cow for 100s of kilograms of meat now. Or we could milk it everyday for years and years. Get the membership numbers up to 5000. Then start with the price rises. If a cat has been a member for 5 years he won't walk away because of a $70 price rise. IF a cat has been a member for 1 season? She could go either way. Why risk it??

It seems so simple to me. Can someone with some business knowledge explain to me the mariner's plan? Can someone from the Mariners justify a price rise?
It doesn't make sense to me from a business point of view or a community club point of view.

I think the clubs all over Australia must be careful to not disenfranchise their never enfranchised fans.

Mmmmm...  from what I can tell of the attendance figures and growth of interest, both commercial and public... from a biz perspective, a price rise probably adds up pretty clearly on paper I'd be guessing... But you may well be right GB and hands too deeply in pockets could restrict growth at a time when you want to ensure it...and a more steady and wallet friendly approach may indeed pay bigger dividends long term...

But to be honest my personal gut feeling is that the ball is rolling and I just can't see it stopping... I think they're banking not just on us, but on the growth of the A league and football in Australia in general, and I think they're probably correct. We may whinge about the rises, I know I did ;D but I also get the feeling that quality reserved seats are going to become pretty hot property in the coming years and personally I felt like I had little choice but to jump because I could already see the ship pulling away from the dock so to speak... and if enough others have felt the same way then I guess maybe they have gauged it correctly... I know plenty of people who've complained about the pricings, but I don't know anyone from last season whose not planning on going. They may not join... but they are planning to go to games... and as the year moves on I think the sharp edges on the prices will start to fade...

Lastly, to be completely fair, inflation wise, some degree of price rise is of course always essential... and obviously they also need to keep consolidating and expanding upon their infrastructure and that takes bucks... our bucks I guess :) But at the end of the day, as long as they play their hearts out, win lose, rain or shine (though preferably winning in the sun) I know I'll enjoy the year and still be glad that I bought my membership.
