ccmfans.net is the Central Coast Mariners fan community, and was formed in 2004, so basically the beginning of time for the Mariners. Things have changed a lot over the years, but one thing has remained constant and that is our love of the Mariners. People come and go, some like to post a lot and others just like to read. It's up to you how you participate in the community!

If you want to get rid of this message, simply click on Join Now or head over to https://www.ccmfans.net/community/register/ to join the community! It only takes a few minutes, and joining will let you post your thoughts and opinions on all things Mariners, Football, and whatever else pops into your mind. If posting is not your thing, you can interact in other ways, including voting on polls, and unlock options only available to community members.

ccmfans.net is not only for Mariners fans either. Most of us are bonded by our support for the Mariners, but if you are a fan of another club (except the Scum, come on, we need some standards), feel free to join and get into some banter.

Mariners vs Wellington at NSO - Game Talk

I think we can all take a chill pill now :D

Hayson, this forum is generally pretty loose on rules - threads get way off track, but usually after the main points have been done and dusted so that's fine.
We don't usually close threads or crack down on 'off topic' chat, maybe just a gentle push every now and then to post in other threads.

The arguments about NSO are fiery enough, let's not turn on each other.

:grouphug:

I thought I was indicating that my chill pill had been taken when I said that we should move on and put our energies into posting ideas on the new thread.
I didn't realise that suggesting that we close a particular thread was a 'capital offence' as some members of the forum seem to be telling me. My apologies.

At least you now know not to request that a thread be closed because, yes, it is a capital offence (or at least should be).

I think you owe BK an apology.

. not necessary

. but it would be nice if our new mate could occasionally look at the message trying to be conveyed rather than a thoughtless perception that instantly classifies a comment as negative and an attack on the club

. over the years i have seen that the club still has to improve its track record of 'learning from mistakes', 'communicating better' with its past, present and future fan bases and taking on board 'constructive criticism' so i stand by my comments

. i have generally remained optimistic about the club's future - to the extent that i have to admit avoiding the forum (or posting at least) when things have really 'turned ugly' in the commentary ... when things have been far more destructive than constructive (think: lawrie's demise, attacks on PT, canberra, arnie coming, arnie going, divided 'active' support) - this is not one of those times (well at least not yet)

. if you want a debate ... then debate. if you simple attack the opinion of other posters ... you may be 'shouted down'

Just on the NSL link ... i.e. NS to CCM...

The NS were a late arrival in the NSL and along with PG stood out as non ethnic teams that could draw big crowds... always considered the NS to be part of a new dawn, turned out to be a false dawn but they did play a part in saying football was not only for ethnics...

Lots of lessons from the NS like that take over by Rangers was the beginning of the end ... remember to that a number of teams had prior existences in the NSL maonly with different owners however
Perth....owner and coach changed one JON's bad decisions the way they treated PG in the first two years... bur essentially the same side as the nSL.
AU... combination of AU sides in the last days of the NSL into the Piss Ants today...
Newcastle ... Rose Buds, KB United, Breakers... Jets [new owner with Con]
Brisbane ... Strikers [different ownership] to Roar...

We were kinda a bunch of travelling folk who talked some people at the CC to put in a team...

I have my own tho's about the NSL and think many of the best and worst things happen in football in this time...

By debate I assume you mean agreeing with those members who seem to 'own' this forum. No room for 'outsiders' who have a different view.

I joined the forum after seeing the banner at the top of the forums page inviting those who had previously only 'lurked' to join in and give their opinions.
None of my comments can be construed as 'attacks', unless you are extremely sensitive. An occasional 'gee up' is not an attack and none of it was personal.
I can see the reasons for the divided 'active' support problems of the past that you mention. Quite clearly there are a few people who want to 'own' the agenda.

The thread, started by Adz, asking what we could all do for the club is the type of constructive use a club forum should be about but, for some, it is more about attacking others, or the club itself.

I have been a Mariners supporter from day one and, although I do not live on the coast, I go to as many games as I can (even watched them in Tianjin last year). I wanted to answer the 'call' to help bring more support to the home games but, sadly, this forum is not the place to start. I will have to find other avenues to become involved.

Take a teaspoon of cement and harden the f**k up. The only thing that's going to irritate me more than your previous posts is seeing you run away with your tail between your legs. This forum can't afford to lose anyone, so in all sincerity, keep posting. I'm happy to let sleeping dogs lie and invite you to share a beer with me at some stage in the future. It may be easier to express out views in person rather than this back and forth on the forum.

On a general note, while speaking of sharing a beer, I think we should nominate a home game where all forumites agree to get together for a pre-game shandy so we can all say g'day to each other.

Good idea Atomic.
Great to put faces to the names......who would have thought FP wouldn't have been a grey haired man with glasses...and who would have thought BK wouldn't be a sturdy older lady.
Both very different to my perception and both very favourably so.

Was great putting names to some faces. The number of times i've sat in crowds, shared chants or beer queues wondering could that be *Insert various forum member name here*

. we are all 'outsiders' so maybe you need to get over yourself - i meant offering up a reasoned argument, not just saying ... well ... some of the stuff you have been saying

. i can see your point of view but i just don't want the club wasting time, money and effort (they don't have / can't afford) repeating their past mistakes

None of my comments can be construed as 'attacks', unless you are extremely sensitive.

. i didn't say they were attacks ... what i did say was that any post that was seen as negative by you (such as every post i make apparently) - was seen as an attack on the club. if you're worried about people being sensitive perhaps you should stop making every post about yourself

I wanted to answer the 'call' to help bring more support to the home games but, sadly, this forum is not the place to start. I will have to find other avenues to become involved.

. i have to agree with atomic, don't go ... but perhaps you need to take your own advice - there are other opinions than yours. you don't have to agree with them, but you could respect them a little

. remember they are just that - opinions - and everything doesn't have to be right or wrong / positive or negative ... 'positive' can be ignorant and 'negative' can be constructive

. that'll do me ... it seems every post i make is being mis-interpreted ... and i certainly don't want to be interpreted as the 'divisive element'

Will definitely be looking into this closer to the season.
