Things have changed a lot over the years, but one thing has remained constant and that is our love of the Mariners. People come and go, some like to post a lot and others just like to read. It's up to you how you participate in the community!

It only takes a few minutes, and joining will let you post your thoughts and opinions on all things Mariners, Football, and whatever else pops into your mind. If posting is not your thing, you can interact in other ways, including voting on polls, and unlock options only available to community members.

ccmfans.net is not only for Mariners fans either. Most of us are bonded by our support for the Mariners, but if you are a fan of another club (except the Scum, come on, we need some standards), feel free to join and get into some banter.

They really
I will reserve my judgement for when the replacement troops are announced, as it’s all well and good clearing the decks, the hard task is in ensuring that you are consistently bringing in better players than are leaving.

Having money available is only one aspect, you have to find the right sort of players and then persuade them to come on board.

The downside of this is that agents know you have cap space and are chasing players. Makes grabbing that "right" player all the harder.

Absolutely agree. Surely we're in a better position with MM than with previous coaches though?

MM is only part of the equation unfortunately, as we have been bottom feeders for the past few seasons and so that potentially makes the club look unattractive to an outsider. After all, who wants to play for a team whose only real fight in the last 3 seasons has been to try to avoid the wooden spoon?

I’d argue the only fight was to get out the door. They certainly didn’t fight to avoid the spoon last game

Roar have announced another danish international winger to add to french beautiac. Their front third is looking strong but not to worry ........... we snared simon and still have hoole unless he opts out for family reasons..........

On a more positive note ......... if the choice was between danish international or gamero ......... cutting gamiero was a gimmee, not just to free up squad space............ and he can’t be worse than asdrubal !! Hope he doesn’t get homesick before training starts.

I’m not sure we are referring to the same blame here. Not referring to last season’s performance or lack thereof ???.

It’s about his reason for wanting to stay and the reasons he wouldn’t ...........eh !!!

Just read back. We may have our wires crossed.
My apologies for that...

Does anyone know if the club is getting compensation for the contracted players that have left?
It just seems like any foreign player that gets a better offer suddenly gets homesick & we let them go (by mutual agreement)
ie. Perez,Mane, Asdrubal, Brama,Baro
It`s like there`s a revolving door leading to the airport...

No compensation - all released from contract. Mane and that useless Spanish f**k very justifiably so.

Contracts don't mean anything in a salary capped league with a limit on visa players, as soon as it becomes established that one of our most expensive players who is also only one of the few we can sign doesn't have his heart in it any more sadly it's our best move to just let him go.

The worst part? The foreign players know this and so do their agents..

Is anyone else reading between the lines that the Official Aleague social media reported on DDS' engagement rather than the Mariners?

To me that means the Mariners are distancing from him and the FFA are all but aware of the situation, he is gone.

If DDS were to be a Mariners player next season the club would have blasted this all over social media.

The message between the lines is in bold, caps and 24pt.

. the problem with the DDS situation is that it is all up to him ... he has the exit clause and can call on it if and when he sees fit

. the only option the club has is to sit and wait until he makes up his mind ... certainly doesn't help with recruitment, team building or management of a very limited expenditure

... oh and to be completely cynical (although you could argue completed unnecessary given our recent record) - he can delay announcing his departure until as late as possible to make things harder for us. in theory we can't recruit a decent 10 or spend 'his' money until things are official ... and that could be very late indeed

There are a lot of comments about how the cash is piling up blah blah blah .......... but the team at this point is threadbare of players able to hold their own against a-league teams. To my mind Tom is the only quality left and the rest are bench squatters at best or of unknown health.
Buying so many to build a team to compete, a complete spine ...........on minimal cap money ................. oh wait ??? There’s still 4 months to go. Love the popcorn .........

This season is going to be a developement season. I can feel the excitment in the youth teams all around the country and we have the coach who would be right in his element. Now that excites me
