ccmfans.net is the Central Coast Mariners fan community, and was formed in 2004, so basically the beginning of time for the Mariners. Things have changed a lot over the years, but one thing has remained constant and that is our love of the Mariners. People come and go, some like to post a lot and others just like to read. It's up to you how you participate in the community!

If you want to get rid of this message, simply click on Join Now or head over to https://www.ccmfans.net/community/register/ to join the community! It only takes a few minutes, and joining will let you post your thoughts and opinions on all things Mariners, Football, and whatever else pops into your mind. If posting is not your thing, you can interact in other ways, including voting on polls, and unlock options only available to community members.

ccmfans.net is not only for Mariners fans either. Most of us are bonded by our support for the Mariners, but if you are a fan of another club (except the Scum, come on, we need some standards), feel free to join and get into some banter.

I'm sure DDS won't stay. All signs point to no.

CCM: Danny we'd love to give you game time after you haven't been getting enough, and had to train on your own for months in Melbourne to stay fit.
What can you offer in return?

DDS: Sardine? Pretzel?

CCM: Thanks anyway, Danny - and thanks spurning us after giving you a chance

(harsh I know, apologies Danny, nothing personal, but we fans feel a little stung)

McDonald could do well in the right structure - he's a poacher first and foremost from what I've seen.
But only IF we played a structure that suited him

Carney released as well.I'd have a good look at both of them.Carney still has a couple of seasons in him,48 socceroo caps plays anywhere, good passing range and can score crucial goals.

I know the squad’s kind of gone away from the “no dickhead policy” the last few years but getting Carney in would be putting that policy in the bin and burning said bin and then dissolving whatever tiny ashes may remain.

Correct.

We would also gain a championship winning player, straight off the back of a double premiership. A player able to lead and pressure both Hoole and Pain, and a player with an existing combination with Matt Simon. He would also be on a resonably priced wage considering his experience, and would not take up a Visa spot.

I think we are way past claiming the moral high ground with a no dickheads policy. If he is willing to put in the hard yards and pass on some experience, I would be all for it.

Carney has more skill than Hoole and Pain but he is a bigger Pain than Hoole.

Enough. No more Newcastle trash. Have we not learnt that yet

This off season is lurching from promising to concerning.
Haven't really enjoyed any signing yet, even the rumoured ones are meh and have disliked the released players post spoon game.
Got no spine. Got plenty of spuds. Got no studs.
MM and SM got a buttload of work to do to muster up the excitement of last pre season.

Where have to been FP? We missed you but love the new avatar!

Wish I was savvy enough to upload one myself....:headbounce:

Just work keeping me too damn busy. Reading but little posting time. Enjoying the thoughtful discussions on here though.

Re avatar if I had more time I’d have put a halo around his head :innocent:

Carney is definitely not what we need imo. Time we had a proper team again. Carney puts an I into team, and we can’t afford it, thankfully Mike clearly understands this.

Don’t think we should be fearful right now. Baro and Wout are replaceable. Have 3 important things in our side when it comes to recruiting well... a talented hard working coach and ditto with the assistant and CEO.

No way Monty and Mulvey are not going to assemble a strong squad. And they’re after the right kind of squad character wise. Lawrie knew this from the getgo, but we lost our way after Arnies tenure. The fact this is understood again and we are at last not just a means to an ends for coaches and players ambitions, is the reason we should have hope.

FP that last paragraph is brilliant.

For me its becoming increasingly clear MM has set about to produce a squad that as a unit will work for each other and wants no internal clicks.

He wants a team that will run its arse off and not complain .

He wants a team where its the fight in the dog not the dog in the fight.

Last pre season we all got excited by Okon and the team he built only to end up feeling like it was a worst year than TW and Moss.

I have faith we have a good coach and not a muppet, signings are nothing without a good coach.
