Hope not we need a 15 goal a year striker.
We also need depth in the front third with the loss of TBT, Bingham, API, Wales etc.

Signing lockolingoy wouldn't mean we don't sign a striker.

With the persistent rumours we are signing a pommy striker, it would seem we are planning to play x2 up front with a rotation of Pommy, Simon and Gamiero. That would leave Pain/Hoole as our wingers, so someone like Lockolingoy would be good depth.

Think that'll be right.....we will sign a decent striker i'm sure.

If you had watched Simon this last season when he came on for SFC, you would have see that he was more than just elbows in the opposition defence. I saw a Simon who had matured as a forward who could get above defences, win the ball and then look for support. I saw him lay off some beautiful balls rather than just the wham, bam Simon we all think he is.
Put someone dangerous up there with him and we will score plenty.

Similar to my 2 cents. Hated seeing him at SFC. But I think Matty has clearly matured and improved as a footballer these past 3 years. He hasn’t been required to thug out. He’s looked like he’s just been able to focus on his football surrounded by skilful forwards and I think it’s been very good for him.

He’s always been fit. And under Clarkey he’ll be in great shape. I see no reason he can’t be playing far more than cameos and unless I miss my guess he will be aspiring to have his most successful season ever up front.

2015 Sutherland Sharks 14 (0)
2016– Sydney FC Reserves 42 (34)
2017– Sydney FC 7 (0)

Smashed it in reserve grade but the rest looks iffy.
Has anyone seen him play?
Those goals were scored in NYL and NPL 2 where Sydney were fairly dominant. However he wasn't even their best striker, even though he was the top goal scorer. It was just like TBT with us, plenty of pace at that level, and with so many chances he had to score a lot. IMO John Iredale was a much better all round player but Charles was preferred to him for a first team gig so John went to Holland where he was signed by SC Heerenveen. Charles hasn't handled the step up to HAL as much as his potential may have indicated.

Thats just being stupid. He was a very useful squaddie in a team far far better than ours.

Stupid ??? ....... he was ??? ........... I agree that arnold “had” a use for him............. and that use is now past tense, history, and simon is or was an arnold puppet in that arnold could get him to do anything and would follow him anywhere ......... including leaving his beloved ccm. He effectively contributed to arnold shutting down games from running his arse off adding pressure from the front and resting bobo. He wasn’t there to chase goals that bobo couldn’t get ............. his use in arnold’s “squad being a far far better team than ours” is of no relavence to my comments of which you refer to as stupid. I trust that the mm’s coaching staff have a use for him and he fits their requirements and future game plans ......... but to that we will have to wait and see. Don’t get me wrong ....... I am happy for the Simon lovers and what he will bring to the gameday enjoyment for them.

At this stage simon is only a recognised backup striker and signed, along with a risky unproven gameiro. The striking stocks are not looking like setting the world on fire at this stage. Don’t take that as a negative it is simply a fact. Not being privvy to the mm plan for recruitment and it being this early in the off season I can only wonder at the wisdom of signing a player so unlikely to be on any other teams wanted list ????. Who ever might come along or be found later is by the way ......... the squad spot is filled and the money spent.

Sorry for being stupid :-|

Think Matty would have been targeted and promised regular game time. He could have stayed at Sydney otherwise as rumoured. I don't think he is coming over as a back up striker. I'm sure there will also be another striker with better pedigree coming but i also think Matt is a far better player than some give him credit for. Arnie's role for him was to be a nuisance, but that doesn't mean MM will employ the same tactics.

Lokolingoy was good in the SFC academy but hasn't quite transferred that up to the top level. I think it's a decent signing. Him and Gameiro will fight for that bench ST spot.

Proof of the pudding etc ............. staying at sfc may not have been an option as they are making to use their potential youth coming of age. May have been a swap for buhagiar.
I don’t agree with simon being a better player ............ he is too willing to use his elbows and his anger was at arnolds discretion to upset the opposition in the closing stages. Look at how many free kicks he instigated both for and against in the short time onGood footballers are not in it for the fouls.

Spot on. Bringing Skapetis and Bingham on was a much better option for us moving forward. Also they had a very positive influence on our culture.

Oh ... wait...

We WILL NOT sign a squad as strong in paper as the top half of the field. Our spend has already been confirmed to be less than any team in the comp. So with that in mind, signing a second striker who bleeds for this club, who can come on and be a nuisance and score the occasional goal, or heaven forbid, stop us falling apart in the closing stages of matches when leading is a bloody good move by management.

Your sarcasm is noted ........... I love sarcasm.

But didn’t I read earlier that mc had heard the pleas from the fans and has made measures to redeem the situation ????

So was this bleeding being done in the years he deserted and went to sfc ........... or more recently when his champion deserted him and went to socceroos and he needed to find a new home ????. I don’t buy the bleeding bit. He simply took the option to keep his income and career alive by
Returning to ccm.
Being an armchair critic is a difficult situation when you don’t share the common thread of being born and bred on central coast ......... but it doesn’t change the fact that I share the common goal and is the same, and the reality is simply the reality and shouldn’t be seen as negative. I want the ccm to not be the spooners as much as anybody does. I simply comment on what appears to be the reality. I am up for the corrections to my perception of the reality ............ that is what is so interesting.

Matty is just one of many signings that have to happen in the next few weeks. Time will tell if it's right or not but personally i am glad he is back. More than anything i have missed his fighting qualities. For me it's a question of whether or not he is better than any of Bingham,Powell, TBT or Skapedis. Yes of course he is and he will also bring some passion back to the club.

Couldn't agree more. I hope Mulvey looks for the right kind of weapon to play off Matty. To my mind, we need someone that reads the play well, sniffs out opportunities and puts himself in a goal scoring position. No lazy buggers like we've had for the last few seasons.
