0 goals from 18 appearances .What am I missing here?
Of those 18 appearances he only made 2 starts. He averaged 22 minutes per game over those 18 games. He was obviously far too young (25) to fit in to Aloisi's forward line Maccarone (39) Holman (34) Henrique (33) and Bautheac (30).
He scored 4 in 21 appearance for Sydney and 7 in 13 games for the Young Socceroos and Olyroos. Looks like he just needs to be used the right way and remain injury free (make sure to play on the same team as Wout at training).

Iniesta .....Spanish news reporting say he wants to play in the A-League ... he likes the lifestyle...

Can see Iniesta feeding Matty now ....
Does he know Luis Garcia?
He played well and showed a bit with the young national teams. Seriously dogged by injuries - he has a lot to prove to himself let alone others. I hope he does well.
Potential to be an excellent signing. This is exactly what we need to be doing to compete, other clubs maybe not wanting to risk it but we get a quality player for probably low dollars. If he stays injury free.......

Liked Gameiro back in his SFC days, but the poor bloke has been ravaged by injury. Big punt by the club to sign him. Hoping he stays injury free.

Total rocks or diamonds pickup.
Has had his year just playing and getting to trust his body. Time to deliver.

Wonder if it’s him instead of Simon as both are your second strikers to me.

I'd rather Gameiro as a bench option over Simon tbh

I have always rated Gameiro. Terrible injuries but thought he had more potential than the other strikers of his generation.

The cost on his development the last few years may be too high for him to break out, but he has everything to fight for, in which case he’s an excellent money-ball signing. His next two seasons will almost certainly define his earning potential through his peak years and also whether he can engineer a happy ending or only be able to look back, curse his injuries and think of what may have been.

Mulveys intent seems clear. In the players he’s released and signing, Clisby, Gameiro maybe Matty, he’s building a team of fighters. Not starry eyed boys.

I like Gamiero's attitude

“I’m itching for pre-season, I can’t wait to get started. I know a handful of the boys from when I was captain of the Australian under 23s, they know what sort of person I am and how hungry I am to succeed so I will be there from day one of pre-season to drive that as much as I can.”

Mariners coach, former Roar championship-winning mentor Mike Mulvey, was thrilled with Gameiro’s attitude.

“Corey is exactly the type of personality we need at the Mariners,” Mulvey said.

“He is hard working, motivated and a player that will take this opportunity with both hands.

Well there you go. Isn’t that great,

Welcome Corey.

He’s going to fight not to be second fiddle to anyone. And help drive enthusiasm levels. Perfect.

Happy with Gameiro! Everything hinges on on his glass knees though.
2 crafty signings of 2 blokes that will fight for and to hold their spot. What more can we ask with this shallow wallet we’ve had thrown at us?
Keep this up with a few more, promote a couple of the promising youth boys (kekeris mainly) and hopefully keep a hold of lachie
Get us one big signing in a striker and I’ll honestly be happy.

I’m wondering if sfc changes at the top has compromised the clubs balls to push the cap like last year. There are an awful lot unsigned and arnie has desrted the ship leaving the problem to somebody else.

Still need some class in attack out wide and leading the line. If that comes then maybe some excitement but at least we have hungry guys who won’t quit if we have to fight to hang on to a lead. I hope :p
