How is it an illegal breach??? If it was the club would have told the Scummy c**ts to f**k off back to Windale.
If jets failed failed to contact mariners to advise of their intent to initiate discussions with Millar before the window then i was assuming this was against the rules...
Looks like it wouldn't hold up anyway as apparently Ccm failed to update our contact list with FFA so you can disregard my previous comment i guess...
Dunno if Jets were being sneaky/clever playing that card or just lucky

Plenty of good discussion on here. The club is not blameless at all. After reading what his agent/Jets/Mulvey and our club have said I am of the opinion that:-
1. He was given an opportunity by our club to be a professional footballer. ( I thought that this meant something)
2. He has grown in stature as a player, so much so that up to 5 other clubs enquired about him.
3. When he entered talks with the Jets he thought we were aware of the interest.
4. At any stage that he wanted to show that he WANTED TO STAY he would have given us the chance to either counter offer by contacting anyone at the club. Including all the staff that he interacted with daily to show some concern that he hadn't been offered something.

He clearly does not see us as an option to further his career and therefore I have no sympathy for him. If as he told one of our forum members that he really wanted to stay he would have done so. You and I can blame as many external factors as we want but it comes down to intent. If we were given the opportunity to counter offer then it completely sits on CCM.
The only people hurt from this is the fans. I will boo him the moment he puts on a scum jersey. But I wont feel sorry for him if he gets booed by the crowds for the rest of the season. He made his decision. He didn't want to be here. Time to be selfish as a CCM fans and not get too caught up with him or his agent trying to put spin on what has transpired.

. i can't agree ... about the property development part

. i have recently come to the conclusion he is just a English Football Groupie ... as a wealthy man, this is how he spends his disposable income. he pitches 'the club he owns' to bring in his 'marquee consultants' on paid holidays so he can rub shoulders with the likes of Redknapp and have the likes of Storrie and Phelan open doors for him back home, introduce him to guys like Bolt

EDIT: sorry this little rant does belong in the squad thread, but it was in response to a post here

An interesting and well thought out, logical conclusion.

I too have been trying to work out what is his angle. I have probably been making the mistake of looking for where is his pay off in financial terms, and not been able to find one.

BK I fear you are probably correct which means we are stuck until he either sells us (hopefully), or just throws us away.

. don't get me wrong (and I don't think you were, just wanted to clarify my position) ... but i believe he would sell without much hesitation IF he was to make money on the deal - but i just can't see where that would come from, especially as he has spent the last five years diminishing the value of his asset*

* in high school commerce the non-tangible value of a 'business' was known as goodwill ... a perfect summation of what has been ruined under his ownership

Don't understand why they didn't offer a clause for first option at a one year extension after a few games.
This should be standard in EVERY young player or fresh out of NPL players' contract. And anyone else on a one year contract who would accept it.

"We're willing to give you a shot and a years contract and if you show us you were worth the risk we'll extend your contract to 2 years."

I just don't see why we'd do it any other way. It would definitely be acceptable to the players.
"Hey Matt, we're going to offer you a second chance to crack the A-League, are you interested? Yes? Ok, we'll start with a one year deal and if you play well enough we'll extend it to 2. What do you say?"

All young, new professional or ex-NPL players would be thrilled with that deal and we aren't locked into duds

Wow. I totally forgot about that. He had a good run at Perth too and they wanted to keep him as well

Looks like Sage wanted him (provided he could get out of the contract).

https://www.smh.com.au/sport/soccer...lision-course-over-mcbreen-20100222-ore9.html

While McBreen was looking for assurances from Arnold that he was wanted.
Which was fair enough after he was benched at Fury, and enjoying a new lease on life at Perth.

So I guess he was happy to come as long as Arnie wanted him.

My memory was somewhat inaccurate :p

Player departure: Adam Berry

The Central Coast Mariners can today confirm that the club has parted ways with Adam Berry after his contract was terminated by mutual consent.

After signing his maiden professional contract with the Mariners in 2016, Berry went on to make 24 Hyundai A-League appearances in Yellow & Navy and bagged his first goal in the competition during the 2016/17 season against the Western Sydney Wanderers.

Upon his departure, Berry took the opportunity to thank everyone at the Central Coast Mariners.

“I would like to thank all the Mariners staff, players and fans for the last three years,” Berry said. “I have thoroughly enjoyed my time at the Mariners but I feel like it’s time for a fresh start.

“I wish the club and the players all the best for the remainder of the season and for the future,” Berry said.

The Central Coast Mariners wish Berry all the best with his future endeavours and thank him for his service to the club.

Can't believe how amateurish it all looks and stuff like this keeps happening.

The whole thing with Millar being explained as "we didn't know they made an offer" and then "they emailed an employee that no longer works here"... what... the... f**k...

Even if that first bit is true and really, multiple people have come out and said they informed the club so is it really??
Why would you even use the second bit as an excuse? Hey everyone, someone really important - important enough that they receive correspondence from other clubs informing us of negotiations with players - has left and nobody monitors their email.

Amateur hour all 'round.

Did anyone else read Jem’s most recent club interview and get the feeling of fear with the amount of times he mentioned le fondre and worry that he’ll end up at Sydney next season if things don’t turn around?

My little yellow navy heart can’t take much more

Also the extension triggers don’t need to be games played like Kennedy’s case. Injury meant we had to play him.

It could be man of the matches minutes played goals assists clean sheets. Many options that can weed out an injury giving someone free game time like Kennedy

sigh...it can't be easy being a CEO for Mike Charlesworth and so Shaun has my deepest sympathy but here we are again in the midst of yet another clusterf##k! The stupidity of all this reminded me of what Shaun had to say when asked at the presser for Okon's dismissal (March 21, 2018) how can we compete when other clubs are spending more.

"We have to be smarter. We have to make sure that there's no mistakes so there's a lot more pressure on every detail that we do." He then waffles on about how the Mariners were competitive under Okon before finishing up with the following. "So what is important for us is we've got to be absolutely professional in how we operate and how we get everything right and we can't make a mistake. That's how we compete."

The contrast between what's been said and what's been done couldn't be starker. This is how you measure failure.

Eventually the lack of money catches up to you. To many people trying to do to many things on top Of the their role leads eventually to mistakes

Statements from Mulvey like "We developed him and now he has left us" (paraphrased) don't help credibility either. He has spent the best part of his key development years in Melbourne. A lot of stuff said to the media which is simply an attempt to deflect the real issue.

Tbf that's not actually what Mike said. He said he came to us and we developed him to this level.
I know people arse sensitive about this stuff but, assuming he's better today than he was a year ago, it's not unreasonable to say that we developed him to this point from the last.
Unfortunately I don't gave the effect words here but I recall him actually putting qualifiers in the statement which I don't think would've been there if he wanted to take credit for everything.
Things are bad enough without us adding further.

I think we might keep Hole for a couple more months. The good thing about those free kicks is MV will be frightened to foul in that position, may cause them to make errors (more than they already have).

Do you think Mario Shabow has stood next to Nisbet and said “move over short arse” be the only chance he’ll ever get
