Adam Berry has left the club: https://www.ccmariners.com.au/news/player-departure-adam-berry

The Central Coast Mariners can today confirm that the club has parted ways with Adam Berry after his contract was terminated by mutual consent.

After signing his maiden professional contract with the Mariners in 2016, Berry went on to make 24 Hyundai A-League appearances in Yellow & Navy and bagged his first goal in the competition during the 2016/17 season against the Western Sydney Wanderers.

Upon his departure, Berry took the opportunity to thank everyone at the Central Coast Mariners.

“I would like to thank all the Mariners staff, players and fans for the last three years,” Berry said. “I have thoroughly enjoyed my time at the Mariners but I feel like it’s time for a fresh start.

“I wish the club and the players all the best for the remainder of the season and for the future,” Berry said.

The Central Coast Mariners wish Berry all the best with his future endeavours and thank him for his service to the club.

How many more now?

This one at least makes some sense. I like Berry and appreciate that he's worked hard while he's been here, but he has also been struggling for game time here, so it makes sense that be goes looking for it elsewhere. Best of luck to him.

Post from Shaun M on Facebook ;

After plenty of speculation, on behalf of the club I would like to keep our Members informed, in light of today’s media release from Newcastle Jets.

Immediately following the Newcastle Jets’ press release today where the Club said they “advised the Mariners of his intention to negotiate via email following 1 December” and that “Joel (Griffiths) was completely transparent with the Mariners” I contacted Jets CEO Lawrie McKinna and Joel Griffiths to discuss and clarify what had transpired.

Following that conversation, the Jets have since provided me with an email that was sent from Joel Griffiths to a former employee of the Central Coast Mariners on the 27th of December. The former employee was not working at the Mariners at the time this e-mail was sent as he had resigned on the 20th of November. This email is the only correspondence that the Newcastle Jets sent to anyone at Central Coast Mariners and the Jets were unaware that the staff member was no longer working for the Mariners.

The result of this is that the Central Coast Mariners had no knowledge that the Newcastle Jets were in formal negotiations with Matthew Millar at the time when Matt confirmed that he had signed with Newcastle. Whilst Lawrie McKinna has confirmed he met with Matthew Millar on the 28th of December this was a social meeting with personal friends present and not a formal negotiation, the formal negotiations were being handled by Joel Griffiths.

From a Mariners point of view, we also want to ensure Members know that Mike Mulvey had been in dialogue with Matt Millar for months prior – to ensure that he knew that we wanted him to stay at the Mariners beyond this season and were preparing our best possible offer. Mike also met with Matt immediately after hearing that he had met with Lawrie to discuss their catch up. Unfortunately, upon making our offer, we were informed that Matt had signed with the Newcastle Jets. We were left with no opportunity to counter offer which is common practice in football contract negotiations.

I appreciate the co-operation of Lawrie and Joel in clarifying this and encourage all fans of both clubs to focus on the remainder of the season. For reference I have spoken and shown this post to Lawrie already to ensure there is no conjecture.

I hope that this answers many of the questions our members want answers to. The important thing now is to focus on the game this weekend and give our boys every chance of getting the points this Saturday.
Can we look any dumber. FMD

Yet also sneaky from the Jets because they wouldn’t have received a go ahead. We acknowledge your interest reply.

Complete cock up all round

The FFA need to reschedule both our games next weekend and put on a F3 derby while everyone is still pissed

Berry was a nice bloke who l had a good chat with in pre-season and he was hoping to get some chances to play but unfortunately didn't. All the best to him.

Disappointing that Millar is leaving. Who knows where the actual truth of any discussion lays. Reality is based on the actual quotes Mulvey was discussing an extension for next year only at a club that's not spending money and about to take the Wooden Spoon for the third time in four seasons and the Jets offered a two year deal. If he was my boy I know what I'd be advising.

Lots of justification from the club here. Maybe more focus on managing the football club, including scouting and player contracts.

How did you come to that conclusion? MM said our offer was higher than what he took at the jets, no indication I saw that it was a 1 year deal.

I won't boo Millar but I won't cheer him either. Maybe the tifo should be something like : Millar - your fans are gutted.

Makes the point but doesn't demotivate the team

I’ve been told on good authority that the club did have bounce-backs set for the email address of the ex-staffer in question, however the jets deny receiving one... Mckinna and Shaun speak regularly, so for Mckinna to not have the professional courtesy to even mention it leads me to say “f**k you Mckinna you fat prick and f**k you millar you snake”.

Wish Lawrie was recruiting for us. Gets good players for less than their current club wants to offer.
Better than the f**king muppets at CCM.
f**k fairness, this isnt primary school, this is real life

Exactly what I thought when people started questioning the bounce-back thing - Griffiths surely received it and just ignored it, because he's a prick like that
