Mariners Squad - HAL 14 - 2018- 2019 - The challenge for Mike Mulvey is over

If that statement is in fact true.
Then the club f**ked up in not getting everything together to make an offer. (Side issue is that some players are on way above what they should be hence why Shaun said an offer couldn’t be made in December. Because they can’t promise a pay increase if potentially there isn’t money freed up by certain players leaving. Another f**k up)

Nevertheless, this 1000% does not take away from Millar being an absolute f**king piece of shit snake. He’s just not a sneaky snake. Give the club time to sort things out to make an offer to you.
There is no way in f**k the jets offered Millar more than what the club finally put together.

He’s definitely on base wage right now. Because you wouldn’t hand an NPL player a regular starting XI type of wage. Which is no doubt what he’s accepted at the jets and what the club were intending to offer.

That statement, if true, just adds a stain to club management but I feel makes Millar look even worse. f**k him.

And as someone earlier pointed out, atleast f**king Roy gave us the chance to present an offer being commiting the crime.

It’s time for the snake emoji’s on everything Millar posts to Instagram, people.

Either Shaun or McKinna is lying.
Not necessarily.Consider this possibility:
Jets inform CCM they are interested (not necessarily the only ones)
CCM talk to Millar, maybe informally, and say we want you to stick around we're putting something together. Or at the very least they expect to be given an opportunity to table their offer before he makes a decision.
Millar makes a decision without prompting CCM to get their offer in sooner. Club is unaware until he tells them he has already signed.
As far as Newcastle is aware he has handled himself well, CCM left saying wtf matty?

The scenario is unusual, normally you'd expect to collect multiple offers to get the best outcome and negotiating position. The only situation where not pressing CCM to make their offer makes any sense is if there was nothing CCM could offer that would make him stick around and he was very happy with the jets deal or he had already used other parties to drive the price up.

No doubt CCM management have dropped the ball here but it should have been very simple and the least he could do to make sure we came to the table to submit an offer before he signed elsewhere. Making career choices is just business but not bringing us to the table is very disrespectful.

I wonder if we were interested in Duke and Donachie if we had funds put aside for them that suddenly ended up available to Millar?

With so much speculation even on the Facebook posts, I think it’s now important for Shaun to release an official statement (much like lawrie did), rather than “being transparent” by posting an informal reply on Facebook. Fans have been through enough and deserve some straight answers.

And say what. Millar is a dog who will fit in at Newcastle and he wouldn’t give us a chance two months after everyone else.

Stop trying to defend the club here mate, seriously. We f**ked up.
Not shying away from the fact the club have f**ked up. I've said a couple of times the (lack of) action from the club was very very poor. They are clearly culpable here along with Millar himself.

I'm just pointing out that taking Griffo at face value isn't exactly something we should do lightly. He hates us, has always hated us and would say pretty much anything to bury our club, regardless if it were true.

Valid but the Jets response here sounds more plausible than our own

Central Coast Mariners coach Mike Mulvey has committed to playing Matt Millar despite his decision to sign for Newcastle Jets next season.

Millar's decision to sign a pre-contract with the Jets was confimed by the Hunter club on Friday, with Mulvey revealing he sent wing-back home after learning of the future transfer. He also claimed the Mariners would have offered more money than thet Jets but didn't have a opportunity to table an offer.

"It came down to the lad, whether he wanted to stay to play for the club or whether he was going to go and play for Newcastle,” Mulvey said.

"He came in yesterday morning and said he changed his mind four or five times and he thought he would be better developed by going to Newcastle.

"He made that decision and it was a difficult time for Matt. He’s a really popular guy among our group but he’s made a decision and he needs to live with that decision.

"But it’s done. By sending him home yesterday, it allowed him to clear his head and allowed us to clear our heads.

"The Jets wanted to take him by the transfer deadline and they were offering five of their players who are in the first team squad.

"He’s here today, he’s training … Matt will play tomorrow. It’s up to him to live in the spotlight."

Interesting comment from Mulvey - designed to destabilise their playing squad mentally?

OK, we've all had our rant, let's now ignore him and concentrate on supporting the guys who want to be here (or at least who haven't made any overt moves to not be here). I suggest rather than booing & abusing him, a better way to express our displeasure is silence; we don't want to adversely affect the other guys who may feel abuse is meant for the whole team, not just the ungrateful bastard.
