ccmfans.net is the Central Coast Mariners fan community, and was formed in 2004, so basically the beginning of time for the Mariners. Things have changed a lot over the years, but one thing has remained constant and that is our love of the Mariners. People come and go, some like to post a lot and others just like to read. It's up to you how you participate in the community!

If posting is not your thing, you can interact in other ways, including voting on polls, and unlock options only available to community members.

ccmfans.net is not only for Mariners fans either. Most of us are bonded by our support for the Mariners, but if you are a fan of another club (except the Scum, come on, we need some standards), feel free to join and get into some banter.

Well technically Mulvey has already announced it in NBN, and it’s a DM like he alluded to prior to the game.

What’s surprising is he was allowed to talk about it prior to the press release.

Apparently we approached him before the season but he chose Milwall. This sounds more like he'll try it for 6 months and then go home and try to get another gig. Who knows, he may be decide to stay if things work out.

O'Neill at LCB would allow Tom and Jem pair at in the middle.

I wonder what sort of input (if any) his parent club has on where O’Neill plays?

If a major club loans out a developing DM to te game time in a decent league - would they be happy that club tries to turn him into a LB?

Interesting point. However, he is usually a left DM in a pair. He played left centre back - not left back or left wingback. Very similar attributes required. Many DM play as CB, Jedinak and Milligan are prime examples. Burnley may actually be happy to extend his repertoire.

It also should be noted that Aiden's contract with Burnley is up at the same time as the loan. I haven't heard anything about a contract extension for him.

I’d be shocked if Burnley were concerned if he played CB. They’d know what positions he can and can’t play and could possibly play. Their main concern would be the starts and minutes played and how he’s developed.

They wouldn’t be happy with the teams results, but I dare say they’d be impressed with his mental growth and the fact he hasn’t once gone missing on the field this season or shirked his responsibilities on the pitch.
We shouldn’t worry too much about his contract situation and i doubt Aiden is too. They’ll have talks at the end of the season, you’d think he’d listen to what they offer above anything else, if they don’t re-sign him he will not be short very good offers else where.

I’ll be a very very happy man if he ends up in a ccm jersey next season.

In knowing that then about Aido's contract then I dare say that if Burnley decide - 'Yeah, Nah' & CCM wish for O'Neil to stay on & sign a new contract then playing him out of his favoured position is a recipe for that to end unfavourably for us. :-|

His contract is up at Burnley and he isnt an EPL player and im not certain he is Championship level either.
He could do worse than us

His contract is up with them at the end of the season. At this stage no extension has been offered. We should be talking to him now and signing him to a deal contingent on him not being resigned by Burnley by June 30th.

This is from earlier in the thread.

I rate the kid.
If i was Shaun/Mulvey i would be signing him to a 3 year deal.

Agree totally

I’d have him in the higher bracket of the cap and slap a nice release clause on him too.

On football manager (widely regarded as the single most accurate football simulation in the world) you cannot sign a player U23 on a pre contract without paying their club a compensation fee. So in that case we can’t really approach him until June 30.

You’d like to think despite the way this season has gone, that our club has found a warm part of his heart and especially the central coast area (terrigal etc) although he does come across as a consummate pro and has the natural pedigree to eventually get to the highest possible level, so a lifestyle choice probably won’t phase him.

The kid is a f**king Diamond.

I turn up to training and he is like....good morning how are you? They have been turned over by everyone but he is still so confident.

I love that.

This kid is a blessing. Hopefully Burnley dont rate him too highly and we can benefit.

If you do sign on with us Aiden you can have a 1 hour massage at East Gosford Thai Massage for free as a reward.

See that’s the issue we face.
All of us on here rate him so highly and huge amounts of pro football circles in the UK do too.
The kid is such a good pro. Clearly not PL standard yet. But I will bet my future house mortgage on him reaching atleast 200 PL level games by his career end.

If we’d been winning games this season he’d be at the Asian cup as a squadie.
