ccmfans.net is the Central Coast Mariners fan community, and was formed in 2004, so basically the beginning of time for the Mariners. Things have changed a lot over the years, but one thing has remained constant and that is our love of the Mariners. People come and go, some like to post a lot and others just like to read. It's up to you how you participate in the community!

If you want to get rid of this message, simply click on Join Now or head over to https://www.ccmfans.net/community/register/ to join the community! It only takes a few minutes, and joining will let you post your thoughts and opinions on all things Mariners, Football, and whatever else pops into your mind. If posting is not your thing, you can interact in other ways, including voting on polls, and unlock options only available to community members.

ccmfans.net is not only for Mariners fans either. Most of us are bonded by our support for the Mariners, but if you are a fan of another club (except the Scum, come on, we need some standards), feel free to join and get into some banter.

In the post match MM said a UK player (presumably Jem) will be here Tuesday and they were close with 1-2 more defensive options.

I have a feeling our two hopes, millar and Hiariej will no longer be with us after this season! Well I will have to make the trip for the last game of the season then

What’s the point in taking a risk and NPL player a chance, and if they come good we let them sign elsewhere with 0 reimbursement for us. Stupid.
This times 1 million.

It’s the most simple foresight.

Ok, you don’t want to saddle yourself with players on 2 year deals who may prove they’re not up to it.

But, that makes it even more obvious that you need to be ready to offer the extension as soon as you see a confirmation of promise. You don’t wait till they’re tearing up the whole f**king league before you re sign them. That’s madness meets bloody incompetence.

I wouldnhope loosing him stems from 6 months ago when the contract was written and not now. The contract should have been written for all of the 1 year boys we took a punt on, that we got first refusal on an extension. At that point we held the leverage.
Trying to re-sign an talented out of contract player during a period when we had the worst start to a season in history was always going to be pushing crap uphill.

Whos to say the management hadn’t been in discussions for weeks but given the recent history of the club, practically ANY other team offers a higher likelihood of success than we do, so an equal duration and money contract from a rival is instantly more attractive.

Once we take off the yellow glasses and stop seeing ourselves on a level playing field with other clubs, we will realise that we are currently a halfway house for players trying to get noticed by big teams, and players about to retire. The fact that this has happened is 100% on MC due to poor spend in recent years.

What is sad is that we will loose more players.

I couldn't make it to the game last night. Even on TV, I could hear the crowd lift when Millar made a run with the ball at his feet. My partner, who has minor interest in the game, loves watching Millar play and she often says he is the best player on the field.

Surely our recruitment team, Shaun and Pikey can see it too. It's not going to take a huge bucket of money to keep him on/in the Coast.

If he goes and we don't gain financially from it, we need a "please explain" from the club.

If Phelan manages a swap - Rashford for Millar, then I can understand. If we lose Millar for a broken down / coke sniffing / unknown NPL player then I'm one step closer to walking away from the league.

I'm honestly surprised the club didnt include an optional 1 year contract extension. Should be doing that on all former NPL grade players.

Especially when they say it takes them 1yr to get up to speed with the A League

Also they’ve just come off full NPL seasons so are tired

Basically anyone on a 1 yr deal really ..... It's a standard component in US sporting contracts.
Perhaps there's a ban on it from the FFA but I can't imagine there is.
