One will have to be a centre back, especially with the Cisse and Golec issues.

I am calling Tongyik.

As a side, isn't Jake McGing the ultimate survivor. Goes into every season as a fringe player and by the end of the season cements himself as a first eleven player. He is turning into a solid, professional A-League player and should have a long, if not spectacular, football career.
I tipped that last year Mick...

I am hearing that MM is only looking to sign the incoming players until the end of the season, which begs a number of questions tbh.

If we were able to secure a quality player, why would you not want them to be part of the rebuild going forward, rather than losing them in May?

We are also apparently using the Phelan connection to look at loan prospects out of the Man U academy system, which will hopefully bear more fruit than the supposed Everton tie up ever did.

I think we could with Hiariej, Millar, Pain and Murray.

Murray I didn’t believe was that fast, but he showed a decent turn of speed tonight.

Still, I don’t see the pace of Ibini or Trent and Matty S is short several yards now. When Pain broke tonight no one else could keep up...

Happy to be wrong on this though.

Getty reckons we got him
Quality signing, but it does beg the question - what is Mulvey planning to do with him/Tommy/O'Neill?

I would hope that it meant shifting Tommy forward, but Im afraid he will shift O'Neill back. O'Neill said after last nights game he never wanted to play in the backline again!

Good signing? Is a f**king shit signing A DM? Really? FFS what is going through his head. I guarantee that e get this guy and Melling still gets game time.

Would look to be a good signing. Plenty of EPL experience and English so would not have a language/Cultural problem. Hopefully we sign him for at least 2 seasons.
He was born in England.
Refused to go to Galatasaray as a young un as he couldn't speak the language.

Oneil to LB, Melling to bench?
Could also be a view to next season if Aiden goes back to England. There's nothing to suggest he couldn't play in front of O'Neill/Tommy H?
With Tommy O coming good as well, we could see something like this -
............................BK........................
....Millar....Aspro....Cisse.......Rowles.
..............O'Neill......Tommy H.............
.................Karacan.............................
....Pain..........Matty..................Oar......

I think he's more of a CDM though yeah? His contract at Millwall is up just now though, so it would make sense that if Mulvey fancies him, he'd look to sign him now rather than gamble and wait till the end of the year... If we're lucky he can play at CAM as well or as suggested elsewhere he replaces Melling in the starting lineup, I guess we'll find out.
Beyond that though, looks a decent CV, hasn't played a LOT at Millwall but that's only really been the last year-or-so, decent age too, if he gels he could still develop into something for us.

Still... That's nice and all but WTF IS MY CB AND GOALIE!?!?!?

I'm assuming it's more than an end of season deal, if so there's nothing wrong with succession planning if the right player comes up at the right time. It gives us more depth to avoid injury or suspension concerns, flexibility with deploying players elsewhere like ONeill as a back. We had Melling and Hoole start last night, they've both copped their share of doubt this season and a new midfield player might mean they start on the bench more. There's certain positions we'd really like to fill but the players need to be available and in budget, how the manager responds if they can't find the perfect match is part of what makes a good manager. Let's see how the window plays out.

Was just watching a video on you tube of Karacan playing for Reading against Liverpool in an FA cup match. Looks like he could do a role as CAM.
Guess who is playing alongside him ? Could have been instrumental in him signing.

O’Neill with Tommy
Melling to night packing at Coles

I am thinking there may be some rotation here and be dependent on how Tommy H pulls up.

If I was a betting man (not necessarily my choice) I will am going O'Neill and Melling in the middle, Rowles back at left back and Tommy H on the bench. Will also depend on how Aspro is pulling up.

i think most definitely he will be benched for either this game or the Newcastle. His body won't be able to handle both games in IMO. It will cause angst with the fans who don't understand managing a player who is not 100% fit, a bit older and prone to injury.
