Struggling to believe the lachie rumour, he has massive potential, technically a very very good player. Better than pain in that area and always been well ahead of trent. Lightning fast too, just needs to be slightly more refined and consistent. Genuinely hoping he could turn into a regular next season.
It will sum up where our club is at if a kid who’s been in the academy system since roughly the age of 12 born and bred coastie, who btw loves his beaches and surfing, Takes the first chance to leave.
Who's his agent/management? May suggest something.

Interesting choice for Wales.

City have big resources and network but Joyce is a weird coach for them, more reputation than skill. I don’t believe they play the City way either.

Arzani was no where near the team and had a mountain of talent but when finally played and only to get his games up to complete a clause to keep him at city he took off.

Nathaniel Atkinson is getting a good go. Not sure if he was the right back early in the season that was killing it although I thought that player got a major injury?

Then there is Fitzgerald who was starting winger first half of the season then got limited time.

Bruce Kamau was hot property at Adelaide then also got limited time and when signed for WSW was never seen again.

Tonyik was also the next big thing at CB and disappeared under Joyce.

If as per @pinklady says Lachie wants more than 1yr and that’s all we offer then can’t blame him. He is not even on a first team contract here as far as I know.

Does he have potential? Sure but also made alot of mistakes. I put himbin an NPL player crossing into A League in that it takes a while to adjust to the lifestyle and speed. He has a great corner and free kick on him but is not fast nor perfect technically. If he wasn’t local I’m not sure we’d care. Because he is local it’s a shame.

As for the DDS clause we all would have jumped at signing him under that same clause 12 months ago.

I don’t blame the club at all. No one saw us ending this badly and DDS being shit for his reputation. Alot of skill, no results

Maybe we are experiencing what we have banged on about for a couple of years now.... If MC does not invest in the team.... who will wanta play here who has ambitions to move on...

Remember when we happy Musti & Rogic.... we also had Dutchie, Hutch, ....

Maybe theses kids thing it will be the same as long as MC's wallet remains shut...

Not the first time he has left however. He only played here up until 12s and then left to play PYL for Manly. He was at Manly and FNSW Institute for about 3 or 4 years until CCM took over the program here so he returned to have a chance at NYL and eventually A League. No different to what dozens of our better youth players did in the years before CCMA. Just as a sidelight - in 2010 Lachie was a part of the Australian Under 13 team that played in an AFC Tournament in Malaysia. Also in that team were - Daniel De Silva (captain), Adam Berry, Liam Rose and Anthony Kalik - 5 players who all at one stage have played A League for CCM.

Well yeah I have no idea of the process. But I doubt they are being forced into it. The club used resources, took risks, finally gets these kids almost up to speed and they bail to be low performers elsewhere. Absolute arrogant and dick move.

Yeah agree, I don't think forced. And yes the club and fans have invested in and endured their learning curve, so it's very hard to like. I mourn the loss of club loyalty in modern football culture. Sure everyone leaves if/when the dream arrives and a big club comes calling. But in our league, I think that's all but a fiction. Let's take Pain, what a horrific season and he's clearly been ropable. But would he have been better off spending this year never playing with Victory? Difficult as this season has been, how much can he have potentially learnt from it as opposed to just being in the squad at Victory - "The biggest club" who are now in the GF?

But the players will of course be listening to more experienced council who will purport to have "their" and not the clubs best interests at heart. And given much of the football fraternities current scorn for CCM (which for now we have to cop sweet as this time we've legitimately earned it) most advisors will be encouraging their players to go to any other HAL club but us I think. So I don't see this as indicating that these young players are being arrogant or of poor character quite so much. But local juniors ditching their development club is not going to go down well.

Yeah it was Atkinson. He really caught my eye this year. Has been awesome. He was injured at one point but turned out not to be as bad as first feared I think from memory??

Looks like we are bringing in as many NPL players as we possibly can to trial which is terrific to see. Mulvey is doing this first, instead of as an after thought, which is fantastic. NPL players can step up and do well, just look at Franjic, Athiu and Baccus. It's great to see Mulvey leaving no stone unturned and it bears well for the future.

At worst you have a look. You never know who will suit what we are looking for.

Yeah agree, though it doesn't take a lot of hindsight to know the club should have fought tooth and nail to avoid it. But maybe they did. Love to know who put the clause on the table to begin with.

Whatever the case it was a gamble that gave Okon a power he did not yet merit and then his clear arrogance and inflexibility has gone on not just to spoon us, but to cost us two players that other teams should have had to cough up decent $$ for if they wanted. Players who should have had their heads down working hard not thinking about their coaches fate and what it might mean for their contracts.

Seriously, I'll only play for one of Australia's most successful HAL clubs that has launched more of Australia's top international talent than any other club, if a coach who has achieved ZERO at this level is still there. That just cannot be acceptable. I bet Okon's ego found it plenty acceptable though. I know that's harsh. But that's how it reads to me unless someone else can fill me in on some more info.

Anyway, now it's yet one more lesson we have to chalk up and has clearly proven to be the wrong decision. An older/more experienced quality #10, without an Okon proves himself a clown clause, signed on a 3 year deal would have placed the club in a secure and much stronger position.

Yeah it also helps keeps energy up, gives purpose and demonstrates an ambition to improve I think. We can't out buy anyone so we HAVE to outwork them. Also a stream of hungry kids helps remind everyone that we're one of the handful of elite football clubs in the country and how lucky anyone is to have a professional contract with us. Mulvey clearly believes in doing the hard, meaningful yards. Such a long way to go, but like everything I've seen and heard so far.
