At least O'Donovan did score....though he missed a lot of sitters too.

That's a really big issue at the moment. For one, we're suspecting that we're having to pay players more than they're worth which is might be why we're paying the cap for an NPL squad.

Even as a losing team, we can be an attractive proposition if players feel that they will be better off after playing with us - we can develop players while getting smashed, and players - especially ones trying to develop/rebuild their career - will still want to play for us.

Problem is, we've lost the ability to develop these players - looking at how all the players are going that we've released, shows that we're no longer the club that's good at developing these players.
O'Donovan scored 10 DESPITE our team at the time.

Also we are definitely paying too much for players. Hoole had a doubling of his wage coming here and Oar is on a fair whack for a player that doesn't have a lot of fitness or game time in recent years. From conversations with people in the club (can't say who) we are spending a competitive amount but have spent it very badly.

And, clearly, Muley has not molded the squad into a team with a plan yet. Injuries aside.

Hoole is simply a wage thief, adds nothing, cares even less and the sooner we can get rid of him at the end of the season the better. Kennedy is another who needs to be got rid of as fast as we can.

I’d rather see us pay over for one or two great players that show our intent and give others a reason to join or stay with us. If I’m a player and you tell me your recruitment strategy is to put Simon, Mcglinchey, Hoole, Kennedy in your starting line up then I might join for game time and hold out for some extra $ knowing you’re desperate. But if you say look we’ve been in a bit of a hole and doing everything we can to pull ourselves out so we’ve picked up Fornaroli, Young and a new CB the I’m going to think hey these guys are serious about this! I could learn something from those guys.

That is a huge problem and something I think many of us here suspected. The little club needs to be a smart club, when you can’t just throw money at your problems to fix them you really need to do your diligence.

To attract good players you need good players.

If we could tie up Aiden, Tommy H, Pain and Millar while already having Oar for another year and then had Murray and Fornaroli up front then attracting a decent 10.

Then all we have to do is fix up the keepers and defence :(:(

That's why we have to move now. If we don't turn it around now in this window, have a good second half of the season and avoid the third spoon in 4 seasons, then we will have no hope of attracting anyone decent after the third spoon in 4 seasons.

We won't be keeping Aiden past this season, the club will want him to learn how to win, not learn to lose.

His contract is up with them at the end of the season. At this stage no extension has been offered. We should be talking to him now and signing him to a deal contingent on him not being resigned by Burnley by June 30th.

Agree - he is not even close to being good enough to play EPL or even Championship - he'd be better off here for a year or 2 then trying again

This is exactly what I've been thinking about. I think we're going to stuck paying overs for blokes till we become a destination club again....or.... We stump up for a manager people want to play for. It's gonna be an Ange level manager so won't be cheap

No one is going to want to play for us .Why would you?
It has to be very tough to sign quality players to winless spooning sides.

The most logical answer is having to fork out for a few expensive visa players that A) genuinely have the ability to change our fortunes and B) help convince other players to sign as well.

But club says too long to sort....

So how many Australian players are out there who would consider coming back to Australia to play for the spooning CCM and have the quality we need?

Many many football people in the UK think otherwise tbh. Not premier league standard yet obviously. But if Burnley don’t resign him he won’t be short of very good offers in the championship. I’d be shocked if he’s in the a-league next season.

Why not bring in Theo for the rest of the season. Pikey can start a go Fund Me page to pay out Pearce or Kennedy. Every mariners fan would i'm sure be willing to put in some dollars to make this happen.
Why don't we go fund me for members to invest in the club, if we're gonna do a go fund me page for anything?

But as ikonomidis has shown you might get game time in better leagues but it doesn't hurt to be getting game time back here.

Oh dear. Thats worse than I thought. Not turning our fortunes around with Herd and Ryall.

Re visa spot CB’s...
Huth and Samba are almost 35 so too old,
Younes has just turned 33... still pushing it we need a player we can lock in for at least two years to help build something. And he’s French. ;)

Tasci at 31 could work well though - if he’s fit and a decent human being etc.
