ccmfans.net is the Central Coast Mariners fan community, and was formed in 2004, so basically the beginning of time for the Mariners. Things have changed a lot over the years, but one thing has remained constant and that is our love of the Mariners. People come and go, some like to post a lot and others just like to read. It's up to you how you participate in the community!

If you want to get rid of this message, simply click on Join Now or head over to https://www.ccmfans.net/community/register/ to join the community! It only takes a few minutes, and joining will let you post your thoughts and opinions on all things Mariners, Football, and whatever else pops into your mind. If posting is not your thing, you can interact in other ways, including voting on polls, and unlock options only available to community members.

ccmfans.net is not only for Mariners fans either. Most of us are bonded by our support for the Mariners, but if you are a fan of another club (except the Scum, come on, we need some standards), feel free to join and get into some banter.

@Ozhammer mentioned Joey Mills. From what I saw of him he looked pretty decent and good left backs are hard to find. One drawback is that he takes a visa spot.

Thoughts?

Vastly superior to Roux. He looked really classy early in the season. He didnt impress me that much last time we played Glory but overall a busy, aggressive player and he can cross a ball.

I'm a big fan of their big centre backs Lowry and Grant. Tough and solid.....just what we need.

Matt Sim scored four goals against Queensland NPL opposition. Just saying.
yes I was thinking the same thing. A-league is a big step up. TBH some of the defending in those clips was pretty poor. Having said that worth a look as there are some gems to be discovered in the lower leagues but they are very rare.

Yep agree it's a big step up, but if he was third string that may be ok. If he took the Bingham role for example.
The interesting part is his bio states he played qld and roar youth system so presumably he is known to MMM.

I'm pretty sure its Clisby and Thwaite who have already agreed terms. I was told more than one anyway. I cant see Cejudo unless we get him cheap to allow him to prove a point.

Hopefully true, I was told he had been offered a 12 month contract but wanted 2 yrs. We refused so he decided to look into other offers he had received. He wants to stay tho so that is a positive.

That seems like a real stupid response from the club if that is right... He might not be much at this point, but for mine we should be looking at him for 2 years. He's good and young enough that he shouldn't be a major stone around our neck even if he develops no further and he shouldn't be too exxy... I would've thought that would've played right into MC's story???

Your main point of attraction for a good junior seems to be the prospect of game time.

Try these for reasons a talented junior might be better off elsewhere :

Charlesworth ............... club killer supremo.

The coaching staff that had the reputation of turning out talent have mostly left. The new guys are somewhat unproven in that they hadn’t held positions at this level before making a committment to ccm risky.

Mulvey is known to want results not favour a kindergarten although his declaration of supporting charlesworth’s regime is a mystery unless it was to seal the gig. Like Okon he seems to prefer the devil he knows rather than the unknown.

Sfc, wsw and jets all have excellent programs up and running now and with owners that spend money for who they want.

I admit my opinions are formed from what I would consider popular sentiment rather than hands on experience but non the less it is info that is out there.

Except none of those make too much sense to me... MM was the Youth coach for GCU for three years and presided over what was essentially a youth squad - albeit an enforced one - even as the first team coach. So he certainly has some history with youth.

But again - these guys aren't looking at the youth programs so probably wouldn't be that interested in what SFC, WSW and Jest can offer up right now, they're looking for adult contracts, that was my point.
I like Trent and Lachie and I rate the potential of both of them - but I don't see either getting even close to the level of game time we've given them, at any of those clubs... SFC they'd be competing with the likes of Anthony Kalik (another promising youth who hasn't had much game time but would probably be prioritised if the loan is still on), Ninkovic, Mierzejewski, Carney, o'Neill and MattyS.... Actually, this is going to take a while so I'll leave it at that list... But do you see either of those boys even making the bench in a team like that... Or in place of a Petratos or Vargas or Royo?
Short of perhaps somewhere like Phoenix or Perff they'd be looking at bench-time at best and NYL-team action at worst.

Agree. I dont think of any of our wannabees have been a success in other HAL clubs. Maybe Fitzy did ok at City. The rest have all flopped.

I think TBT will get splinters elsewhere but under a decent coach (Triple M) he would be well served to continue to learn his craft here.

He is only fringe so i'm not bothered either way.

I think it's clear that they have a bit more time on the ball to think things through, in the NPL, than they would in the A-league, so I think it's hard to really judge his decision making from the reel - but considering his current record, seems to definitely at least be worth the look.
