Rosey was f**kin mint! Haha
DDS and Trent are both gone. I hear DDS sent his brother in to clean his locker out - if so, f**k off. Gutless.
Pain seemed very pensive at the end of the night... mind you that was at 2.30am after 2000000 vodkas.
I’m sad so see Liam go.
1 vodka behind your beers? Cheers

DDS brother played for the academy like he had been on the piss all night. Still better than Wales though - he had a shocker in front of his new boss

Rhett only played 20 minutes. Wales in front of his new boss? Who was in the crowd? Where is he going? Unlikely that CCM will make him another offer after they withdrew the first one last week after he stuffed about for over a week and wouldn't sign.

Its called negogiation. Both parties don't always settle on the first offer. He is young, local and has talent. Doubtful we would shut the door that quickly.

He was on our table, he wasn't drunk at all.......suprisingly.
Josh Rose on the other hand had the crowd in raptures with an impromptu drunken retirement speech that left Glen Lauder patiently waiting to get the microphone back for 10 mins
Only 10 minutes? Where were you for the rest of his speech? HAHAHA

Possibly going . Handy squaddies at best despite their potential.

Trouble is , MC believes players like this are our golden ticket but he can't keep them.

Great strategy Mike, top notch execution

This all makes total sense really. The only attraction we have as a club is as a place to get game time that young players can’t get anywhere else.

And to be honest, right now, more than ever, I don’t see how we can afford that as our strategy when we so desperately need to have a decent year and that means putting proven players capable of being consistently good on the park.

Don’t get me wrong. Love seeing some talented youngsters in the squad and like PJ said essential to balancing our squad spend. But from where I sit. These players are very unlikely to be the key to changing our fortunes and so can only be a small part of the equation for a couple of seasons at least.

Besides which, have to be pretty bloody hard to get the best young talent in the country here on long term deals with no stupid exit clauses, given the state of us.

I think we need players that are all strong men of real character who are either getting second chances or fighting to keep their careers alive to support their families. Not boys who spend most of their time on play stations, dreaming of wonder goals and being whisked away to Europe while their agents whisper in their ear and blow smoke up their asses and who have to hide their envy evertime SFC or Victory’s bus pulls up.

We really used to be the former. I don’t ‘know’ but fear we have become too much the latter.

100 percent right FP.
One thing with trying to raise kids from the nursery is the time in years it takes for them to become the real deal. That time frame is at the expense of the club and fans.
If CCM want to be competitive they need to become a finishing school for a very few select young players and not a nursery that they wish to be. as in Rogic, Sainsbury,Musti etc as against the 3-4 years for Fitzgerald, Caseras and a myriad of others.
There just has to be a balance which is missing.

I agree with the last few posts, well said.
Another unfortunate factor to consider is that up and coming talent are unlikely to sign with us right now.

We are not a good shop front window for young players wanting to make the NT or get a deal in Europe.
We USE to be THE club for that scenario, but not currently.

Our best youngsters are currently leaving us to be squaddies for other A-league teams.

So yes I agree we should rebuild with established players that aren't getting a go elsewhere, I just can't see us snagging talent that have their sights on bigger things.

Agree with the post above about junior recruitment - we are not an attractive option for a junior to come to at the moment if they have options with larger or more successful teams.

One of the main reasons we were such a good youth nursery is that the juniors could learn from great leaders. Sainsbury paired with Patrick, Duke and Ibini learning from Macca and Sterjovski etc etc. So to go for a youth policy with the intention of delveloping and selling overseas, we need people for these kids to learn from. Getting People like Monty involved would definitely help, but the balance from youth vs experience is crucial, and it sounds like we dont want to spend to get those experienced players.

This is one of the reasons Im not too heartbroken Rosebud is gone - he was able to develop under Hutch/Monty/Garcia/Brahma/Tommy, and still hasnt actually made a first team spot his own. He is really the only junior coming through that had the direct link with experience. Who was TBT/Kubi/Hoole learning from????

Daniel De Silva undecided on club future after A-League return
Josh Thomas
@Joshua_Thomas97

The young midfielder is carefully considering his next career move

After returning to the A-League this season with Central Coast Mariners, exciting Australian prospect Daniel De Silva admits he's unsure what his next step will be.

The 21-year-old midfielder made 21 appearances for the Mariners scoring three goals as the club finished the campaign with the dreaded wooden spoon.

Debuting in the A-League as a 15-year-old with Perth Glory, De Silva secured a move to Dutch club Roda JC in 2015 but played just 16 games across two seasons prompting his return to Australia.

Impressing in patches for the Central Coast, the young midfielder is attracting interest from other clubs in the A-League and admits he's yet to decide where he'll be playing next season but has held discussions with incoming Mariners coach Mike Mulvey.

"At the moment, I'm undecided so just weighing up my options and seeing what the future holds," De Silva told Goal on the red carpet at the Dolan Warren awards.

"Had a few chats to him (Mulvey) here and there so that dialogue is definitely still open."
Though a disappointing club season, De Silva found some personal silver lining in his recent campaign with the Mariners.

"Good to return back to Australia and play lots of matches week in week out," he said.

"That was really good for me to get the body strong. We had a good team and everything but lacked the results."

Why in the fug is any player allowed to talk like that 1 year into a 3 year contract? It's not like he is at the end of his contract and is weighing up his options
Unless he has the same 'Okon out me out' clause as TBT

His out clause is the original.

That is still some conjecture on whether is had a three year deal or was on loan from Roma.

If he wasn't on a loan deal why would Roma be paying part of his wage?

Why would the club announce a 3yr deal?
Out clause I’d say, especially as Paul was the attraction for him
