Wouldn't be surprised if DDS ends up with Okon at WSW.

I wouldn't be surprised if DDS waits until Okon's future is confirmed, and then makes his decision based on that version of his options. If Okon doesn't get a coaching gig next year, se may still be his best option for game time in Australia.

If Okon DOES end up at the Wanderers, I can totally see him following him across. Let's see how the Wanderers fans respond to a performance like this year, I think they may expect a much bigger output than 3 goals a season from their 10.

Why would the club announce a 3yr deal?
Out clause I’d say, especially as Paul was the attraction for him

I am not sure why the club would announce it and I do not know specifics. All I said is that there may be some conjecture around his contract.

Again the question remains, why would Roma pay 70% of his wage if he is not their player?

Agree just saying we wouldn’t be able to say 3yrs on a club announcement if he wasn’t ours for that time. So in theory must have an out clause on what ever that contract was.

A so called CCM player couldn’t be speaking freely like this at an awards night without a smack down, so my best guess is the release clause around Okon would be pretty accurate and if TBT has the same clause then you would think DDS would have one more than TBT would

Story on FFT says that WSW is decidedly looking for a European coach, which does make more sense than them bringing in Paolo on his current record, I reckon... We'll see I guess.

In the meantime, for all of the talk - I honestly don't see why anyone would think that we'd be a particularly worse option for a youth player than most of the other teams around - just have a look...
SFC has had a couple this season, but they've largely been the exceptional option and Arnie was quoted stating that he no longer thinks of this league as a development league so - play what wins... I don't see any reason to think that would change soon.
WSW - off the top of my head there's not a whole lot of "youth-youth" around their starting 11, same goes for MC... MV does seem to have a bit of a better grasp on running out the occasional youth player, developing and selling, so perhaps I can see that... Brisbane Roar - I shouldn't need to say anything there, and on-and-on...
Point being, for all of the frustration and disappointment, I don't think any of the boys are going to see a better opportunity for first-team football than they will here and I'm not convinced that being benched until their mid-20s is going to do much for them either. Now I understand that these decisions are probably equal parts anger, frustration and impatience, but in particular for players like Lachie and TBT, they have a ways to go before seeing first team action anywhere else, at as regular an interval as they do here... I understand that they might want to get away from a club running on as rickety a carriage as ours but honestly, that's where a decent agent should be providing them with some better guidance I reckon.

That is still some conjecture on whether is had a three year deal or was on loan from Roma.

If he wasn't on a loan deal why would Roma be paying part of his wage?

The way I heard it - which was only through internet/press reports - was that Roma wanted first and last offer rights. Is that enough to pay over $1m over 3 years. It is a lot of money for the Mariners - but chickenfeed for Roma.

Liam had so many chances.
Seams like a nice kid, probably too nice and laid back.
It would be pointless to retain him imho.
I thought the same but was told yesterday that the reason both he and Storm were released is that they laughed and took the piss out of one of our players who was in tears after the 8:2 kicking.
If this is true or even close to the truth then great work by MM for sticking to his guns and removing anyone with such a shit attitude.

Offer back on - someone has had a reality check. Hope he doesn't mess around this time.
Hopefully true, I was told he had been offered a 12 month contract but wanted 2 yrs. We refused so he decided to look into other offers he had received. He wants to stay tho so that is a positive.

Your main point of attraction for a good junior seems to be the prospect of game time.

Try these for reasons a talented junior might be better off elsewhere :

Charlesworth ............... club killer supremo.

The coaching staff that had the reputation of turning out talent have mostly left. The new guys are somewhat unproven in that they hadn’t held positions at this level before making a committment to ccm risky.

Mulvey is known to want results not favour a kindergarten although his declaration of supporting charlesworth’s regime is a mystery unless it was to seal the gig. Like Okon he seems to prefer the devil he knows rather than the unknown.

Sfc, wsw and jets all have excellent programs up and running now and with owners that spend money for who they want.

I admit my opinions are formed from what I would consider popular sentiment rather than hands on experience but non the less it is info that is out there.

@Ozhammer mentioned Joey Mills. From what I saw of him he looked pretty decent and good left backs are hard to find. One drawback is that he takes a visa spot.

Thoughts?

23 in 11 this year. More than double the next goalscorer. Absolutely braining it.
