Victory and Perth are my top 2. Those squads on paper are the best. Will see what happens as on paper doesn't determine what happens on the pitch

Very interesting recruiting ............ even ours. I don’t think we are a chance of finals with our defense the obvious weakness .............. but will be hard to beat if we park the bus with a chance of a goal.
Victory have obviously their eyes on the acl which might mean them resting their strongest squad before and during the acl.
Sfc will once again be pace setters I fear.
Wanderers look to have strengthened where they failed last season.
Jets are going to be tough now they have a target striker and when they get o’donovan back .......... shit ???
Glory have the team and the coach to overcome their difficult game conditions and travel. Away games for the rest of the league will be hell.
Adelaide have also plugged their gaps very well.
Melb city have built better than last seasons and look awesome on paper.
Roar are also up there with good recruiting and have learnt from last season’s problems.
Pheonix I think have a lot yet to build ..............but they don’t have simon................. but burns is even worse.

It’s going to be a long season even without okon* ............ but there is still plenty of interest for me. Player developement, mm’s coaching style and somebody other than hoole to take the set pieces :)

* ( being sarcastic peoples)
If both Oar and McCormack arrive and key players keep fit i think we will make the 6. I actually think we are pretty good defensively, We are better than last year for sure with Clisby and Cisse there. Much will depend on Golec and Aspro's fitness as they are both capable starting players if fit. Rowles is good back up. We are much stronger around the park in terms of players up field who also cover a lot of ground defensively, and we have more players who are less likely to lose possession i feel. BK isn't the best keeper in the comp but wasn't that bad last year apart from a couple of games. RB still the glaring issue for mine.

There will be much competition for places in the squad and some unhappy people. Do they get better or run will be the story of our season

I am assuming the Ross signing, l believe Oar is a done deal.

I feel like this season will be a of a higher standard. I reckon Victory will be back to dominating and Perth are a dark horse. They have a very good side.
Perth looking very strong.

Perth have had strong teams without success for the history of the A-leauge, the difference this season will be the change of coach, I have them as favourites.

They also got robbed by the FFA in a disgraceful FFA endorsed rape v Brisbane in 2012 GF to lose a game that they were the better side in but a corrupt FFA and Brisbane affiliated Ref did what they do best....blatantly cheat.

I dont rate Popa as a coach but he is putting together a strong team. I reckon he would be a brilliant defensive coach like we need with Dutchy.
His arrogance is his downfall..............he puts together a great team, they excel and then he dismantles it and they flouder..............the sign of a meglomaniac with other disorders.

I though MacDonald was a mid? And Millar is the back?

I disagree with the top part. If Perez was f**ked over then that pen was a pen.

been outa the loop for 6 years :S , few questions

is muvley really the best option we had? ha may have been in asia, couldn't have thrown gumbau in the mix and backed him like adelaide?
I'm surprised that simon returns, he seemed quite delighted to leave, can someone enlighten me?
is weemac still as good as his last stint?
kennedy worth it? i thought we didn't like taking our northerners trash?
aspro any good?, he didn't seem much quality at WSW for mine

are we really thinking of offering Bolt a contract?

IMO ......Mulvey yes. Think he he is right for us at this time.
Matty is a great addition, apart from the culture fit he has the mongrel and pride we have been lacking. I also think he is a better player than people give him credit for. He left on good terms to pursue a great opportunity so can't begrudge him that.
Weemac probably isn't quite the player he was but think he still has it.
Kennedy is ok but not much more than that.
Aspro is the real deal. For a young guy played a lot for a successful WSW side. Family and friends that follow the Wanderers rate him highly, if fit.
Bolt? Not sure, my gut feeling is that we will maybe keep him training full time and offer him a guest stint around new year for a few games. Then reassess for next season once we have had more of a chance to get him as close as possible to a real footballer. In the meantime, milk the exposure for all we can.

I think this is about right. Only thing I think differently on is - Weemac. Some of what I've seen of him I think this could be his best year yet. He definitely went backwards at WP but with what's coming out of preseason, he seems on the up. Like Simon I think his intelligence as a player is better than before and in this team with the attitude, grunt and fitness, where it's going, I think he'll be one of our key players. He and Hiariej.
Here's hoping anyway!

I dunno ??? .......... I am not convinced that recruiting players from their reputation of three to four years ago has proven a successful recipe for anybody, specially when last seasons form has not been good.:naughty: Players from the top leagues in the game that want to extend their careers in lesser leagues like most visa players excepted, but not because they bring mongrel ??? and still get offside. :doh:Time will tell.
Pre season form, although fair, is not against any quality defending and as such it is not really a confident barometer of the team skill level.
It worries me that the defence is not the strongest unit. Too many players coming back from serious injury that need time to get their confidence back ........... supported by unproven players upgraded from npl with only the worst keepers in the league behind them. Not a great confidence builder when the quality of the attackers being recruited are compared.
Without the rumoured oar and mc cormack I feel I will be aldi’s best customer this season :(
