So assuming Oar takes up a marquee spot as well as Ross the other one, where has the money come from to afford it? We haven’t been told of any new sponsors from the bolt circus. So that leaves the assumption that Charlesworth has always had the money there but has, as we all know, been to focused on trying to make a buck or 2. So, I’m also assuming that these next 2 signings are the work of Phelan getting in Pikeys ear and being assertive.

Geeze I hope we get Ross in ASAP. Massive season changer for us. Proven double figure scorer who links play and deadly set pieces.

Oar is as obvious as O’Neil’s build up to the signing.

That is the question of signficance. One can only assume that money has flown in because of bolt. History tells us MC doesn't spend big.

He’s not making money. He’s been losing it. So a new theory is required.

If it’s not tied to any commercial uplift, I’d be hugely surprised. I’m sure there’s a lot we don’t know. But if it wasn’t tied to any additional funds now or projected, the only thing I can think of is he doesnt want us to fail again - especially with so much attention on us - so is willing to lose more millions than usual on us.

This. I suspect MC is willing to invest/lose more money this season because so many of the worlds eyes will be on us. This season could make or break our product.

Pikey has tried to run us with talentless kids and shit coaches, while coming up with stupid ideas to alienate not just our support but to also turn everyone else against us.
Mike's tenure has been a shambolic failure on every level apart from his Bottom line.

Pikey is not a stupid man, he is the opposite, but he has made a mockery of our club and a mockery of Australian football.....making himself look like a Goose at the same time.

Maybe he has been warned by the powers shape up or ship out?

Maybe, he has realised.....employing cheap but talentless people is a flawed strategy that will only bring you failure.

Maybe he is sick of being ridiculed and dispised.

Maybe, he has awoken to idea that being successful and respected can actually generate you money on several fronts.

Anyway.....here is to Pikey showing us, the HAL and himself some respect.....and from now on being known as Mike.

I disagree with all of your maybes. I think he's just a bean counter that knows how to survive. However, hes looking to spend coin, which I'm fkn delighted with. That's all that matters.

He hasn’t spent it yet ................ :naughty::naughty::naughty:.

Here’s another maybe ........... :popcorn: ............. if ffa lose control of the game at the pending fifa meeting, the other stake holders might decide there are more worthy offers for ccm’s spot to improve the league. Maybe he has been warned to lift his game ???

so my yearly bet for top 6 was a good option @3.50 then. Just hope both signings happen! We need them positive waves!

Actually ......... no waves would be better. Waiting for news is like standing in a deep pool of shit up to your bottom lip. Any ripple will leave a foul taste in your mouth.
“ don’t make a ripple ..... don’t make a ripple’’ :vhappy::vhappy::vhappy:..........:vomit:

These 2 potential signings really would give us a tremendous front end for the money we would spend... a striker list of McCormak, Simon, Gameiro isnt far shy of the top teams. Wingers/AM of Oar, Pain, Wee Mac, Hoole is significantly stronger than last year. CM/DM of Tommy and O’neill Is arguable stronger than the pairing with Brahma, and while the defensive line still has some question marks, Cisse has great pedigree, and Clisby will be a revelation this year I feel.

If these signings come off, we have made a big step.

The big difference? In previous years we had junior Socceroos players staring matches. This year they will be bench players, and that is a solid step to make.

If we sign McCormack and Oar then we have a very good front line leading into the season, with I assume McCormack and Simon twin strike partners with Oar and McGlinchey on the flanks. Hiariej and O'Neill as twin defensive midfielders, as well as O'Neill is reported to have performed in pre-season I am concerned that he hasn't been tested at A-League level yet, Wayne Brown was supposedly an exceptional player in pre-season when he first arrived for the Jets. Without significant and consistent improvement from McGing, Clisby, Rowles and Millar I feel for all our attacking might we will be exposed significantly defensively. If Golec or Aspro don't return to their previous ability levels before their respective injuries I fear we are in trouble.

McCormack and Oar, if signed, will be the final recruits to our squad leaving only our youth players, such as Glassock, to improve our defensive stocks. I think the re-signing of Pearce is really put into perspective when you see how desperately we potentially need additional quality defensive players. Should we have really used a full senior spot on a player that was no where near being ready for the A-League?

After the previous few seasons where we had a sub-par defence, a decent midfield and not much else, I welcome the potential to have a good offense and midfield and a tenuous defence. It makes a refreshing change.

But these two signings are key.

Well, if Oar and Ross is happening, then we should be scoring way more goals than the last few seasons, but then l look at the defence and wonder how we keep them out consistently. I reckon we'll be entertaining to watch this season as goals at both ends seem inevitable

We managed to keep GA low for most of last season with more or less the same quality back line.

Would love your thoughts on why you’re so concerned with defence Josh? I’m not saying it’s a strong lineup, but last year (until everyone switched off) defence was reletaively good, we just couldn’t score? And that was while spending the majority of the year pressing high and being ripe for the picking on transition.

Storm was way past his best after his injury, and Baro was strong but didn’t have a lot of presence on field. Cisse has very good pedigree, and Clisby looks the goods. RB looks weak, but it was last year as well.

I don’t think we have the cattle yet to pull off a back 3 against the strong sides, but I dont think it’s really any weaker than last year.
