Four more NPL players makes no sense to me.
At worst I’ll cop 3 more and two high quality foreigners who can play.

I was willing to have us give Bolt his trial, but not interested in using a visa spot for Bolt if we’re going to be so undergunned in proven talent.

I am finding it hard to reconcile the claims about the squad. On wednesday night mm stated uncatergorically that the team would be very different come season opening game time.:)

Now we have that there will be five npl players signed.:(

I’m sure everybody thought mm was indicating visa players late starting to save money ???:)
Now it appears that may not be so. :(Mm may have been making a political statement he needed to make ??? to appease ffa / fox critics ????

Could the money needed to sign the extra visa players have been reallocated to the coe to fix problems there ??? ...... similar to the problem I have from overspending my allowance on aldi casks and having to access the funds from my unicorn feed allocation :(

Personally ........ I think there is a light at the end of the tunnel, but it is not daylight:naughty:...........
Firelight?

Agreed. I'm all for some of the bolt circus but not if we're signing NPL players support him.

I notice that mm pointed out defense was the achillees heal last season

Hi all new poster here, been lurking for a bit over the last few weeks and supporting the club more over the last few years despite missing our top years before I cared much for the league.

If MM said our defending was the issue last year I’d find that really concerning. Prior to the wheels falling off in the last few rounds our goals against was quite low. I think as late as Jan we were running 4th for goals conceded. And there were lots of opportunities where 1 goal would have given us an extra point or two, games where we really should have scored more.

If there’s any truth to the recent discussion of 4 of 5 the signings being NPL it’s going to be difficult to support a club that’s not really taking things seriously. I don’t really see the benefit in bringing in a crowd draw like Bolt if you’re only setting yourself up for failure in front of more people, surely you put quality players around him and hope to convert some casuals into fans that want t come back.

MM said on Coast FM Wednesday night that the remaining four slots will go to NPL players.
If that's the case, charlesworth needs to f**k off. May need to stick to CCU and not bother with ccm.

Why should we bother with the club if they aren't going to take the league seriously?
How do we actually have a WORSE squad than last season?
Charlesworth, please, f**k off.

Though the question also comes down to how did we screw up recruitment so badly when we have so few key players?

i find it extremely unlikely that our remaining 5 layers are going to be from the NPL.

If it is true,I would expect a mass exodus of staff beginning with MM and Shaun. No self respecting coach or CE O would put ip with that rubbish

If the remaining squad members are NPL stock, I'm willing to give them a chance. I can't see it working well, but who knows, maybe they will be diamonds and produce the next Jedi, Sainsbury, Rogic, Musty . . . .

If all we get is rocks that can't cope with the A-league, then I'm going to struggle to keep the faith.

I'm getting worried.. .

All I can hear in my head is MMs inaugural speech playing over and over, wirh his Manchester accent spouting "The age of mediocrity is over" so I can't honestly imagine him being ok with signing 4 NPL players as the response to getting pummelled 3-0 by another Aleague team that isn't even going to be the strongest this season....
The age of mediocrity is here, for at least one more season.

It makes you wonder if “the hand of phelan “ has been in play ............... or if not .......... why not????

I understood he was to use his extensive experience to oversee things football and make reccommendations to mc. How that many years of experience at epl man u would translate to a - league with cap, transfer shit, visa limits blah blah blah but at the moment you would have to say it hasn’t. During the phelan era with ferguson I don’t recall any youth promotions that stuck and not sold or loaned out .......... no giggs or scholes in his time.

I can’t see any advantage in him being there in the role he was introduced in but his experience and club connections world wide in sales, now that makes more sense. It appears the direction from the mm appointment has changed, spending damage control into npl players etc .............. it would seem that phelan is more along the lines of consolidating the club assets ready for sale .......... polishing the turd if you like .............. I live in hope :tv:

If one of those NPL players is Jordan Murray that would be a good outcome, but after being totally ignored till recent times, there are now according to rumours a number of A League clubs interested in him.
