I was quite pleased by the discipline shown by the side. No pre season games before a first competitive hit out should lead to massive frustration but only 1 card is pleasing.

Having Simon as skip was a good move and while he was aggressive it wasn't the Simon of old.

MM's comments that those coming in are first 11 players is encouraging and the fact they haven't been announced lends credence to the hope that they are bigger money earners than we currently have and we are trying to save money by starting them late.

These next 4 weeks would want to see the players announced or I'm not f**king watching
No guarantee they are first 11. Says into the squad. 4 of the boys last night are not in our squad.

Article also says 7 first 11 were missing from last night.

So I’d say a mix of starting 11 and squad imo

Have a good feeling we’re gonna announce a signing today. Phelan has moved to the coast and started work, morale is down after the FFA Cup loss & the club will be looking to boost spirits coming into the weekend with a big CCMA game tomorrow.
Chuck us some optimistic ratings

The guy from Wollongong possibly, it's been an open secret for a few days now across social media

The next announcement needs to be a positive one. An announcement of an NPL player will not have the effect required at this stage, it just strengthens the lack of confidence shown in the recruitment department, hence I think thats why he hasn't been announced yet. The next one should be O'neill or a genuine starting player ie the rumoured Brazilian striker.

No announcements until at least next week. You'd hope the squad is sorted in a couple weeks.
Mulvey talked about training blocks in his post FFA cup talk. The next 4 weeks are supposed to be key and we won’t have these players for it (unless they already here).

“We’ve finished the first block of six weeks in the pre-season, the lads have worked extremely hard. Weeks 7-10 will be very very tough and we will keep on with our plan, we know exactly when we want to be peaking and that’s on the 21st of October.

. Mulvey has not said that they are key though ... he has said they will be tough - not the same thing

. perhaps key to base level fitness ... but potentially a problem for any imports being exposed to our hard pitches and tough training as an introduction to Australia - we don't need any potential big dollar signings on the injury list as soon as they arrive

Fair call (I’ve used the wrong words) but if they aren’t fit enough or acclimatised then they will get injured just like Cisse on Wednesday. Also they are already 6 weeks behind end getting further behind.

MM said on Coast FM Wednesday night that the remaining four slots will go to NPL players.

“Slots” ???? ............. where’s the spell corrector when you need it ???
Could have been sluts ???? ........... or sloths ???. Anyway I still think I am glad I am not one of the four remaining slots :vhappy::vhappy::vhappy:........ what ??? :yellowcard:

Shit season ahead then.

Would need to be the leading goal scorer in NSW NPL (forget his name but has broken the record this season I think. Might be for APIAH?).
Then the two already rumored so who’s the other? Maybe a keeper?

Does that make Bolt the 5th.

MM is not impressing me at all with his signings

A-league, in particular sfc under arnold, is a very robust contest. You can’t play football if you don’t have legs and this season looks to be mm’s turn to use that tactic. It is a great leveller. 20 fouls committed but only 1 yellow reflects the referee not the ccm discipline. In my opinion of course.

Simon was not his old self I can agree with that. Not once did he get blown for offside ......... and not once did he take a shot that wasn’t on target. Also .......... he had to do most of the graft himself having no support from hoole or bolt.

I notice that mm pointed out defense was the achillees heal last season ......... I suggest he worries a little by the fact that there was not one shot on goal and the adelaide keeper made no saves recorded by the fox statistician.

Jus’ sayin’ ............. no conclusions can be drawn from that game relative to the coming season .......... except fro pearce maybe.

If that's true the backlash will be furious. That is unacceptable.
We are 'feasibly' competitive with who we have IF everyone is firing fit and playing blinders every game. Which there is NO way is going to happen.
Barely enough quality, probably definitely not enough - and zero depth. Attitude can only get us so far.

Filling out the remaining squad with NPL...#&%k! Gawd damn I hope that turns out not to be true. Might as well hand back the licence with the downward spiral of dwindling membership and attendances when it's another season of more unnecessary failure - if that turns out be what happens of course.
I'll hold off the anger until I see the actual signings.

Is there an aldi near you ???

I can suggest you try the merlot ............. even better if you soak a sweaty sock  in it first to give it a taste.
Don’t leave it overnight as it ruins the sox.
