If we are only signing NPL players than we have payed far, far too much for the signings we already have. Our spend towards our squad this season will actually be less than the cap floor, because we are still paying De Silva $80,000 so instead of the cap floor being for us $2.635 million it means we will actually spend 2,555,000 on players we will actually have available to us this season. Which if we have the minimum squad size we will have $127,750 to spend on each player at the minimum squad size of 20 or at the maximum squad size of 23, $111,086 to spend. Lets take a look out our squad and how I would say how much we are spending if we can only sign NPL players from now on. Keep in mind that the minimum for a player over 20 is $61,287 and under 20 is $45,686
Ben Kennedy: $61,287
Adam Pearce: $61,287
Joe Gauci: Scholarship
Jake McGing: $110,000
Antony Golec: $110,000
Jonathan Aspro: $110,000
Kye Rowles: $61,287
Jack Clisby: $110,000
Kalifa Cisse: $300,000
Michael McGlinchey: $100,000
Mario Shabow: $61,287
Adam Berry: $61,287
Tom Hiariej: $300,000
Jacob Melling: $100,000
Corey Gamerio: $110,000
Matt Simon: $300,000
Peter Kekeris: Scholarship
Connor Pain: $110,000
Andrew Hoole: $200,000
So taking a very rough estimation of what we are paying our players we should have at least $329,852 and require another 5 players to fill our side to the max squad limit at 23 at an average of $65,970 per player. That sort of spend would require us to basically exclusively recruit NPL players. If the club and Mulvey have put themselves in this sort of financial position, having not learnt from the mistakes of our season with Moss and Walmsley then we are in deep, deep trouble. It seems we are over paying and over valuing players to the extreme and that is extremely disappointing. We need to learn, and I thought we had learnt, that we have to save every cent possible, that there are very little professional opportunities in Australia and that we are in a strong bargaining position for the vast majority of players in our squad and those we sign.
