This years recruitment has way exceeded my expectations. We will be one of the strongest, if not the strongest defensively. I think Paulo has made it the priority to shore us up and will be expecting us to leak few goals. Attacking wise there are still a few questions to answer, but even then with the addition of DDS and Hoole we are much more potent.

Agree with Local pom - I am gobsmacked by our recruiting. After the Kennedy announcement, I thought we were in for another year of mediocrity - its just amazing what has happened since. We may not win the league, but the team is doing everything they can within budget to ensure we punch well above our weight, and that is what being a mariner is all about.

I think we're done with the big signings
I'd be surprised at any further big signings tbh - we've used all the visa spots with Wout signing, so any marquee up front, would have to be Australian and considering how hard-up the Socceroos are for a strong point-man up there, I don't see that as very likely.
For mine, I'm not that stressed about it either... I think there's a pretty good balance in the squad now - we have double coverage for pretty much every spot except #10. While I agree that Bingers needs a bit more practice up front, isn't this exactly how you get that? By sitting on the bench behind the first choice and waiting to get your chance? He looked quite serviceable when given the chance last season, so I'm happy for him to stay in that role... Unless Paolo can convince Dukie to return Although, much as I love him, I'm not sure that that's a particular improvement... Nor am I convinced that we should have 4 forwards in the team at this point.
That of course, is all predisposed on Asu.. Asa... Asdrubal?!? Being worth the money that he's signed on but at this point we probably have to rely on the abilities of our gaffer there.
The only other issue right now, is probably LB - and tbh I figure Australian stocks are about as thin there as they are at the front.

Squad is looking really good now. Being half-Dutch I love the Dutch influence coming in! Maybe a little lacking the height department up front (apart from Bingers).
Could probably do with a quality striker, but we know that costs megabucks.

I'll pull my head in again. As for Paolo saying he wanted to hold on to one visa till he knew if i was needed... Wasn't that before we signed Wout?
Wonder if there is some confusion due to the clubs timeline.
They had the the new signings thing on Facebook showing two empty spots but after Asdurabal (the first signing to fill the blanks) they then say no more but Wout is announced a day later after it leaked in Hollland.
Did they mean we've signed the second and that would be final or they thought they were done then scored Wout.
Sounds like the first to me.
Also as mentioned our plan was 4 foreigners with a 5 possible in Jan depending on other things.
I'd say we are done unless someone leaves

I've only been this forum for a few months but I can tell you one thing I would been much more negative poster over the previous 3yrs since GA left than since I joined. PO, MC and SM have given a big spotlight at the end of a very dark tunnel.
