Seem to be we are looking at a young player and an experienced player in most positions. Obviously Paulo see's more development possibility in Kye than he did with Micky Neill and that is his call. Time will tell.

Good point in regards to the the experienced/young player combo. The other difference between Neill and Kye is that Kye is young enough play the year in NYC to keep him current.

That De Silva article shows a very determined young man and indicates he has been out injured for a while.

Kye looks interesting another young Socceroo ... I assume he is not hugely expensive ... meaning we should have heaps left in the cap for some very decent players.

I can live with a one year deal as well, PO achieved overs last season with a team he didn't pick so I'm fully prepared to back his decisions. Youth international players is a step up from just NPL players and he may unearth a few diamonds in them yet.

1yr is weird for someone so young. Also had a year to run on his roar deal so either has plans to go somewhere after next year or has backed himself with no recognised LB at CCM as is not going to move Corey Brown at Roar.
Interesting contract
Maybe also checkout how you like the coast and if we like you. If so extention

Meanwhile, Central Coast Mariners defender Harry Ascroft has the chance to play in England after being granted a request to go on trial with Championship club Barnsley FC. It's understood the Mariners allowed the 21-year-old former Australian youth international to take time out of their pre-season to move to the South Yorkshire club where he will have a chance to impress their coach Paul Heckingbottom and earn himself a permanent deal.

Ascroft joined the Mariners in 2015 after his contract with Dutch club VVV Venlo was ended due to the club's financial difficulties and he went on to make 34 appearances in the A-League.

Ascroft is still only 21.
He's a straight CB. As it turns our probably a deal to cover the loss of ascroft

Definitely a CB. He was part of the AFF U19 winning team that Liam captained. He injured his hamstring in the semi and didn't play in the final. He was in the initial squads picked by Paolo before he came to us and Talay kept him as first choice.

He is around 4 months younger than Trent and 14 months younger than Liam. From the little I have seen of him he looks composed on the ball and at 6' 1" has a bit of much needed height.

Good luck to him - if he has the talent he is old enough.

I will be sorry if Harry does leave, as the kid bleeds yellow and navy without doubt. Whether he has the chops to cut it at Barnsley is another question but I guess we will see.

I can't say that I know much about Rowles but if players like him were on PO's radar, I am a little surprised that he didn't move for Crestani when Roar released him. He had a lot more game time than Rowles and looked like a tough cookie at CB.

Yeah but crestani should have been red carded 3 or 4 times last year but was a protected spiecs at the roar .
He'd just be taking faty's seat in the stands here

Apparently Jake Adelson was released last week, and is up the road training with the jets. Super disappointed at that one, he was hot shit at knox last year but after doin his ACL again I guess Paolo felt it was a risk he couldn't take. Wish the fella the best of luck (but hope like f**k he doesn't sign on up the road).
