Things have changed a lot over the years, but one thing has remained constant and that is our love of the Mariners. People come and go, some like to post a lot and others just like to read. It's up to you how you participate in the community!

If posting is not your thing, you can interact in other ways, including voting on polls, and unlock options only available to community members.

ccmfans.net is not only for Mariners fans either. Most of us are bonded by our support for the Mariners, but if you are a fan of another club (except the Scum, come on, we need some standards), feel free to join and get into some banter.

Heard Ali Abbas wants to return to SFC so we probably didn't really stand a chance if SFC want him back despite how much money we offered him. I get that he would want to return given his history with the club and he is a fan favourite.

The Nick Ansell rumour is now dead. Signed for CD Tondela, who I have just found out survived relegation by one goal last season!

With the rumour that Vukovic is headed to Genk makes it all the more important that we sign a 1st team keeper/s for 17/18.
Would also like to get confirmation of the Cirio, Da Silva, Rose (and others) signings sooner rather than later given pre season starts next month.

Now they have Hoole they probably won't sign Cirio.
Probably right. Although Cirio can also play as a striker?
I'd expect Rose and DaSilva sooner rather than later and a GK. We will also have a couple of re-signings i guess in Micky Neill and Adelson.....

Just announced the Ben Kennedy deal. Not blown away, but he's not useless. Solid, if uninspiring. Gotta be a backup.

EDIT: By the sounds of it, deff backup

Paul Okon indicated that there is more to come in the goalkeeping ranks for the roster and explained how strategic the signing of Kennedy was to the team he is building for this season.

“All along our plan was to have three quality goalkeepers that all offer something different. Ben brings experience having played over 100 A-League games and it is important for us to make sure there is a keeper with his quality, leadership and nature within the three,” Okon said.

“Ben joins Adam Pearce so that is two down and we are very well progressed for the third keeper that hopefully we get to announce soon. Having strong competition for spots is exactly what we must make sure happens for every position across the park.

“Once the squad is fully finalized I know that all the supporters will understand how important it is for the club to have a good mixture of youth and experience in all positions,” Okon said.

Okon says in that release we're "very well progressed" in discussions regarding the third keeper spot. News soon.

This is fine as a first drop keeper - basically a like for like with Necevski.

The main thing I take from it is that the mariners are getting smarter with the way they deliver the news. This signing has been in the pipeline for ages if you believe the rumours, and if it had been announced a month or so ago we all would have thought we would be continuing our scrappy seconds style recruiting. Not only is this timing better gaining a lot of faith with our recent signings, they have essential come out and said, 'don't freak out, we know he isn't first team, just wait a bit and we will give you the good news'.

Great work mariners.

Very poor signing.

The fact Newcastle didn't want him should of been ringing the alarm bells.

He needed to go back to NPL to prove he still has what it takes before getting thrown a career lifeline here given he has barely played in 2 seasons.

The 3rd goalkeeper better be a f.....king star.

If you purely look at Kennedy as a #2 then he might be serviceable knowing a quality #1 was coming. I remain optimistic giving the signings so far.
