I'm not sure that even Paolo knows how we will end up. I'm sure he has a number of irons in the fire. DDS may be our new 10 with Hoole and Powell as his back up. Shaun talked about another potentially foreign DM and CB as well as another striker.

So maybe we are looking at

--------------- New GK ------------

Roux-----new Foreign CB-----Baro----New LB (possibly Rose)

--------Hiariej------new Foreign DM----

------------New #10 (possibly De Silva) -----------

Appiah---------New CS-----------Pain

We shipped 70 goals the season before last and 52 last season and scored 2 goals less last season. I think Paolo is looking at making us a lot harder to score against and giving us different routes to goal.

Dont forget Golec.

I hope so too Pat but remember who owns us! When we were good we had some depth, but its been a while mate. I'm tipping him and Baro are our starting CBs but i'm hoping you are right!!

Hi All,
Long term listener, first time caller.
I'd like to see us go after ansell if he's still on the market. We do seem to recycle victory off cuts just as Sydney recycle our players. But with ascroft, rose and mcging as backups I see us starting golec.

Surprised most people are writing off Rose Jr as a starting player next season. Thought he was starting to look a very good player towards the end.

I'd be inclined to think PO will use him more as a passing DM option next to or just in front of Tom. He's gained a much stronger defensive edge to his game from that CB exposure and in reality he's never going to be a #10. He's no tommy or even musti.

Welcome and Ansell would go well with what we have.

Time for Jnr Rose to demand selection now as will have competition in all areas he can play. Very talented but will he take itbto the next level with competition or wilt under the pressure?

Once Paulo realised that the Powell to #10 experiment that Wamsley had set up was a failure, Powell got essentially no game time. By the back end of the year he wasn't even named on the bench, with Bingham getting game time over him.

I doubt he is in any plan for first team football, and I wouldn't be surprised to see him 'released by mutual agreement' prior to the season starting.
Powell was injured which was why he didn't get named at the end of the season.

I have to disagree with those who say Rosebud can't be a No.10, it is only the kid's engine that prevents him doing so, not his ability. To an extent that can be worked on with a tailored pre-season programme but I would still be happy if the club bought in a recognised playmaker.

He could also certainly be effective as a 6 alongside Duthcie 2.0 too, so I don't see his opportunities being necessarily limited. McGing might be the one to be sweating on his place, with Berry likely pushed a little further down the pecking order.

De Silva almost done - don't jinx it Shaun

Mielekamp is confident that, after a six-month wait, a deal is almost done now.

"It's looking positive but until they sign on the dotted line you can never say for sure," he explained.

"If it all goes through Daniel will be an important recruit for us.

"He and Paulo are close (from the under-20s) and have been talking for some time.

"We hoped it would happen in January but couldn't get it over the line back then."

I may start wearing my jerseys again this year. We're building a team that can challenge all teams on their day. De Silva is def an exciting signing. Would like a gun striker and perhaps a #10 like Luis to come in and help.
Get someone to stop the goals and someone to score them then I'm with you. Certainly promising.

Here's hoping we get it over the line

Was World game who also quoted Shaun when our interests in Baro were first mentioned, different writers though but same organisation

Gk - Tom glover , Ali bray
Striker - someone like baba diawara

I'd be happy with those two as keepers. What happened to the John Stead rumour as striker - that seems to have gone quiet.

As for De Silva - is only young and by all accounts ambitious. We need to lock him in so that we get decent compensation when he tries Europe again. Given that we are rescuing young number 10s that can't get game time for various reasons Sebastian Pasquali who is with the Ajax U/19 and is not getting any time would make a great backup.

What about Xisco that played for Newcastle in the EPL a few years ago? He's playing in Thailand and has a contract up soon. Only 30 and has a big team pedigree.
Also see Alex Cisaks contract at Orient is up. He's kinda been on the fringe of Roos selection in the past.

Perth Glory: Danny De Silva wants Central Coast Mariners move

Perth Glory have all but confirmed Danny De Silva will not be returning to the club, with a move to Central Coast Mariners imminent.

De Silva’s loan with Dutch side Roda JC is due to end in a month, meaning a return to Glory, but they have advised the 20-year-old wants a move away.

Perth state the player has a “clear preference” to play under Mariners boss Paul Okon, who managed De Silva at youth level.

“The club would like to confirm that Danny De Silva will not be returning to the club at the end of the current loan agreement with Roda JC Kerkrade which expires in July 2017,” a Glory statement read.

“The club held discussions with Danny and his management, however, Danny stated his clear preference is to play under his former national team coach, Paul Okon, at Central Coast Mariners.

“Our understanding is that the player and Central Coast are in discussions at present and his signing will be announced in due course.”

De Silva also spent a short time with AS Roma while away from Perth but a permanent move fell over after owed money was not paid.

De Silva would be Central Coast’s fifth signing of the offseason, following on from the captures of Antony Golec, Alan Baro, Tom Hiariej and Andrew Hoole.

JP mentioned in Australian football that Paolo Retre has been released by City with a year to gonon his contract, so would think is headed somewhere else.

He played young socceroos for a short time (not sure if was under PO don't think so)

Fits PO player profile and can play RB and midfield so could be a handy backup for Storm

Victory are looking at Milligan. We are looking at a foreign DM and CB. He can play both allowing Liam to play either DM or CB next to Tommy or Baro. Also can cover RB and push forward. Not a youngster anymore. Worth a shot?
