Victory are looking at Milligan. We are looking at a foreign DM and CB. He can play both allowing Liam to play either DM or CB next to Tommy or Baro. Also can cover RB and push forward. Not a youngster anymore. Worth a shot?
He's a bit out of our league. Still a Socceroo and would want big money. Great player though.

Veteran defender Josh Rose set to sign with Central Coast Mariners after Melbourne City stint

THE Mariners are poised to regain veteran leftback Josh Rose, as coach Paul Okon continues the overhaul of his underperforming squad.

It’s believed Rose has agreed to terms on a return to Gosford after a season at Melbourne City, and the deal is likely to be signed off next week.

Rose enjoyed significant success at the Mariners during a previous six-year stint, winning the league title in 2013 and the Premier’s Plate in 2012 under Graham Arnold before becoming disillusioned under Tony Walmsley.

The Mariners moved to re-sign Rose after failing to agree terms with former Sydney FC left back Ali Abbas, who has cut ties with Korean side Pohang Steelers.

Once Rose’s one-year deal is officially ratified it will leave the Mariners with six spots to fill, half of them potentially visa players though one of those is likely to be kept in reserve as a potential mid-season signing.

Two goalkeepers are among those required, as well as a marquee striker to replace Roy O’Donovan.

Not the worst and he looked to have sharpened up a bit at City. Good bloke and a better option than Micky.
I still think Neill can make the grade but he just needs one or two seasons in PL learning the basics of his job as a FB.

Disappointed that we couldn't get Ali Abbas but it's good to see that we're going after players like him. Josh Rose was much better with Melbourne City this year than he was with us the year before. He also improved as the season went on so I think he is still more than capable of playing in the A-League.
He's a very good signing if we've signed him as back up to an incoming starting left back and for $80,000 or under. But if we've signed him as a starting left back I don't think that's the best idea, he's lost a yard of pace and can't keep up with quick wingers on a counter attack anymore. I don't want to see him anywhere near centre back as well. Would love to see Mickey Neill, David D'Appuzo, Riley Woodcock, Nikolas Tsattalios, Daniel Petkovski and every starting NPL 1 left back who is willing to live here given a trial to fight for a contract.

Man I like your thinking but Millsy is a current starting Socceroo. He'd be commanding bulk marquee money of which we can only dream of spending at this club.

So let's presume for a moment the Golec was bought as our second CB, and we recruit another quality DM, with Rosie our LB.

If he is a starter, does that potentially solve our captaincy problem??? Good leader, club stalwart, well known in the community??

Dodgy google translate about Scott Galloway's trial with Wilhelm II:

Scott Galloway, owned by a Northern Irish passport, is a serious option. For years, the Australians have put their sentences on a career in Europe. The left and right back hit the goal with a distance shot, but missed some ball skills. On Saturday he returns to Australia. There he will probably hear if a contract with Willem II is in front of him.

Yes, he is a club stalwart and yes he is well enough known in the community, but I'm sorry, for mine he hasn't exhibited any leadship qualities that would make him a good captain.

Always gives me the impression that he is happy to be one of the boys, and let someone else be the leader.

Whilst I like Rosey, I'm a bit underwhelmed in his resigning. Probably an indication of a real lack of LB's in the marketplace for a reasonable price.

Gk - Tom glover , Ali bray
Striker - someone like baba diawara
Ali Bray looked really good when he played against Victory for us and I thought he deserved more playing time than he got but he does seem to be injury prone.

Does anyone know if he has fully recovered from his latest bout of injuryitist.

Tom Glover would be great, and would be happy to see him as 1st choice keeper.

I'm just praying it's not going to be Ben Kennedy as 1 of the 2 keepers as the rumour mill have indicated.

A striker like Baba Diawara would be brilliant

Can confirm that Daniel De Silva is set to sign with Central Coast Mariners. @PerthGloryFC have confirmed he will not be returning to WA

Reporter for the West Australian.
De Silver would be a good signing, he looks really good on the ball.

Just hope he has beefed up, he is just so little in stature

Here he is on the 12th of April training rather heavily so I assume he is better:

With rose snr back Id like to see Mick Neill re-signed. I think rose can def help him develop like Pat z did with sains.
He's had a hard time of it the last few seasons but there's always been massive potential.
Pragmatically what are the other options for a backup?

FFA would have to be awfully close to having a final figure on the team's grant now that all deals seem to be done? Anyone know of another meeting being called?
