If posting is not your thing, you can interact in other ways, including voting on polls, and unlock options only available to community members.

ccmfans.net is not only for Mariners fans either. Most of us are bonded by our support for the Mariners, but if you are a fan of another club (except the Scum, come on, we need some standards), feel free to join and get into some banter.

Last year in Jan Paulo was trying to get Tom but couldn’t pull it off. He was saying he wanted someone for more than just 6 months.

The quality of Tom may have played a factor.

As FP says maybe Paulo lays it on the line. I hope so but Strikers are hard to come buy and we have little money for a decent one. Asdrubal looked cheap.

10 games left and the usual adjustments to Australia plus possible fitness issues with the heat.

I’m not convinced we get a new one but hope so.
That’s the key issue here, what sort of visa player would want to sign for a couple of months? We all know how Okon cannot afford to get any of his recruitment wrong, given the limited resources available to him (Asdrubal being a clear case in point), so there is no way he will panic buy imho.

Ferriera could be a possibility but not sure he is what we really need atm.

Perhaps a short term loan for someone like Yeboah might suit both sides, so I guess we will have to wait and see what happens.

When I suggested post-Melling signature that we weren't done in the marketplace and there was still plenty of time to go and for things to happen I was shouted down (from memory on the basis Paolo was telling the media we had no money)...

Since then we've released two (nearly three), signed another promising young player.

Given we still have a *little bit* of room to move I wouldn't be surprised if we landed one more coup. We picked up Garcia two years ago, did we not?

I was vocally disillusioned with the comments from the club after the Melling signing, and am glad to see some movement in the front third, and happy to eat my words.

I will withold a pass/fail comment until feb, but to look at this objectively, if the Bingham/Malaysia move comes through, and Skapetis was filling his spot as rumoured, in January we have gone from having Astro/Powell/Bingham as 3 specialised strikers to having Powell/Skapetis. While Astro and Bingham were not justifying their roles, the sum of the parts is less, and we need someone else in the squad, realistically a starting striker if we are to make the 6.

But there is a week to go, and half an import wage to spend.

Make sure Bingham goes, nice picture with him eating a Capitan Chicken should do the trick to send him to Malaysia.

Pain has not been consistently offering enough to secure him a starting 11 position. His intuition and decision making in the front third is low. But imo he has still done enough to stay in the squad and fight with someone for his spot I think.

We’ll never have 22 players who all should be starting - so if Pain whose young and will still improve - stays around while we can also strengthen on his side in the off season... I think that’s exactly what you want.

I have to say Pain has dropped off since Galloway got moved over the other side of the park and then left the club
It’s all up to him and Kai to forge a partnership , then he’ll get better

Kai and Pain do look to have a good connection but Kai not ready yet or not trusted yet by Paolo

We I’ll have to eat my words. Okon is looking for another striker. Preferably an Aussie one because of visa processing time.

I didnt watch the whole game due to family socials.....................but what i saw was very good.
We were compact and pressed very well.
I can't think of a single player that deserved a spray.
Baro and Golec were EXCELLENT. Tom and Melling very very solid (good signing btw Paul)
Powell worked well and Hoole was good tonight.
Paulo coached well tonight.
