Things have changed a lot over the years, but one thing has remained constant and that is our love of the Mariners. People come and go, some like to post a lot and others just like to read. It's up to you how you participate in the community!

If posting is not your thing, you can interact in other ways, including voting on polls, and unlock options only available to community members.

ccmfans.net is not only for Mariners fans either. Most of us are bonded by our support for the Mariners, but if you are a fan of another club (except the Scum, come on, we need some standards), feel free to join and get into some banter.

We could have had Ross Barkley for 15 mill GBP. He would have been the best player in the A League by a mile and won back his England spot. We would have sold him for a huge profit to China or back to the UK after he helped us win the League.
You missed that opportunity Mike:(

It's basic failures to secure upcoming players like this that has me disillusioned with the club!

I really haven't watched much of the roar this season. Thoughts on Skapetis?
He was electric during the FFA Cup and started the season as a shining light for the Roar when they were pretty dismal. His form dropped quite a bit though and he missed some very get able shots and was a bit selfish at times, the Roar had a massive injury crisis at the time however so he can be forgiven for struggling when he was surrounded by mostly unfit or inexperienced team mates. He always looked uncomfortable on the wing and seemed to always want to cut inside but his crossing was mostly good when it got down to it. He's definitely not a winger so if we've brought him in to lead the line I would say he will thrive, as he is very good at making space with his runs.

To be honest its another cheap meh signing and we all know it. The club has its limitations yes but signing a player that has a goal scoring in only youth teams is not what we need. I really do hope he does well and solves the number 9 issue but i cant see it happening. Going on the cheap once again and i think most of us know how that turns out. I hope i am proven wrong though.

If Asdrubal leaving is true then I’d Skapetis is his replacement.

Powell becomes the main striker with Skapetis as the sub.

Don’t see us getting a foreign striker for 10 games who is cheap

but has potential and knows Paolo from his Young Socceroos days:
Well with those 2 lines on his bi he'll fit in perfectly. Of course we've seen how well that turns out.
In all seriousness not a bad opportunistic signing but it won't be enough. Reports of him missing the easy ones are concerning. We have enough players who do that already.

IIRC, Bingham was listed as available, meaning he knows that the club will not be renewing his contract at the end of the season and leaving him free to speak to other clubs.

Whilst the supposed situation mentioned on here is unfortunate (it it’s true), why can’t Skapetis be Ascroft’s replacement?

Melling was signed before Ascroft’s departure was announced, so my understanding was he was the 23rd squad member at that point.
Yes but given how long Ascroft has been off the scene, you'd assume the club only signed Melling knowing Ascroft's transfer was imminent.

If the rumours about Asdrubal going as per previous page are true, then I dare say that's who Skapetis replaces.
