ccmfans.net is the Central Coast Mariners fan community, and was formed in 2004, so basically the beginning of time for the Mariners. Things have changed a lot over the years, but one thing has remained constant and that is our love of the Mariners. People come and go, some like to post a lot and others just like to read. It's up to you how you participate in the community!

It only takes a few minutes, and joining will let you post your thoughts and opinions on all things Mariners, Football, and whatever else pops into your mind. If posting is not your thing, you can interact in other ways, including voting on polls, and unlock options only available to community members.

ccmfans.net is not only for Mariners fans either. Most of us are bonded by our support for the Mariners, but if you are a fan of another club (except the Scum, come on, we need some standards), feel free to join and get into some banter.

Mariners Squad - HAL 12 - 2016 - 2017

It's hard to say how much was Okon, how much was the improved squad - taveres second half was the best display of running a game that I've seen from ccm in years - both most likely. But either way, lose to Sydney or not, we do look to be going in the right direction.

Need totally new back 4

Storm can be back up
Posco backup just breaks down to much
Faty to slow
Neill always caught out of place

A Spanish #10 would be nice as well

The squad we have is just not good enough, too many who would not make a bench elsewhere.
We need the following urgently, not just players but QUALITY players:

2 x centre halves.
1 x keeper
1x left back
1x #10

Then next year we will need a hell of a lot more.

I was screaming for Covic pre-season, when he was wanting to return to his family in Sydney, knowing he'd take a pay cut to be a 2 hr drive from home to work.

Some on here were speculating he mightn't even leave Perth ("why bother Rowdy")
...... well HE DID,
..... but we rushed on signing Crazy Ivan who hasnt played (let alone fcuk'n started) in the A-League in donkey YEARRRRRRS ! (Check his Frick'n Wikipedia page)

Wheareas Covic, he was coming off a good stint with Perth, which included winning the FFA Cup, Former Socceroo and kept Goals for an entire Championship winning ACL campaign
.... oh .. & won 'ACL Player of the Tournament'

Covic was a NO BRAINER for me back then, but we can blame Walmsley for that/this SHIT in goals NOW.

Chickens coming home to roost.

There's talk of Covic going to the Scum on an 'Injury Replacement' contract, with possibility if more as well as a Coaching Position (something I posed as another positive in signing him- if only for 1yr then Coach)

If he does sign with the Scum and keeps a 'clean-sheet' against us then I think I'll ...

... I'll probably have a brain haemorrhage

Shit-show in goals now?

We've conceded 7 and it's arguable he's responsible for 1 maybe 2 of them - the remainder have been awful, awful defence.

It's a bit early to be shovelling shit on him IMO

He needs to show next week that today was an aberration if he can't do that then his spot is more than up for grabs.

I agree Covic should have been signed. It seems Necevski was signed because he was a friend of Matt Nash's.

Yeah it's a tricky one when your "no dickhead policy" begins to directly intercede with your "like to win some games" philosophy.

The reason I suggested we need a new keeper is not for how many goals he has been directly responsible for but for his lack of speed, mobility and his real lack of control of the box over both games. Izzo is not the answer. Ivan is a useful back up but not a first pick A-League keeper any more.
Quite a few of our players would have been A-League standard in past seasons but not now. The league has progressed over the last few years and the standard now is quite a fair bit higher.

Yeah, Nash WASN'T going to steer Walmsley/Storrie towards a GK like Covic who's still got 2 to 3 seasons left in him & ultimately goes on to take Nash's job at the end of it, is he ?

Nash couldnt even stand in Covic's shadow when it comes to 'experience',

The goalkeeping situation we are in is entirely on Matt Nash he has recruited and trained these guys.

Could we sign a ten? Vidosic is without a club though probably out of our price range, Nikas and Dugandzic are floating around...

Nash was a muppet keeper. The fact he is our keeper coach sums up Charlesworth's any shit will do as long as it cheap strategy. I'm surprised we didn't bring in Trotty.
