Josh Rose to be staying on til the end of next season at least
"....But that doesn’t mean the 15-year veteran plans to retire any time soon.

“I love playing and I know the day I retire will be a very sad day for me – I have one more year on my contract and I’d love to keep playing for as long as I can,” he said."

Needs to be more of a back up player for next year with a view to coaching if he's interested. Wouldn't want him on more than minimum wage if I'm honest.

He's had some conkers this year, but he'll be good even just as a squaddie - besides, he's what's left of the ole team spirit... For that alone I think he's worth keeping around :)

I think we are going to see a very different side next season. Some of the young kids who are starting now, won't be. Some of the people that we think have been the best players this year won't be in the starting line up.

If we do indeed sign a first choice keeper then I would like to see one of Izzo or THB to be loan to Everton to free up salary cap (albeit a small amount). We don't need 3 keepers.

The back 4 were disgusting!!!!!!

Posco was the best of a pathetic bunch and was suspect at times as well.

Fab and Garcia looked classy at times.

Roy was excellent and our MoM.

We were pathetic tonight.

I thought both Neill and Posco had some good moments.
I rate Ascroft s bit... In MF, not at all in defense.
But I thought the tactical approach was a bit funny. Posco spent much of the game almost up the other end, leaving Rosie and Ascroft to cover, in spite of him clearly being the better defender.
For all of that though he also spent a whole lot of time covering for Ascroft as well as doing his own job.

Pearce did OK but tbh I don't think he did anything Izzo hasn't done in our latest games.
I'm frustrated and annoyed that if we bring in a qualifmty keeper you can see them letting Bray go :-( but Pearce is still only young as is HB and Izzo has a two year contract with Bray only to end of season. :-(

Re-sign Bray, bring in a number 1 and send Izzo and THB to Finch Farm for a year.

Before we go and recruit I think we need to look at who is staying. Case in point is the keepers. If we have a new number 1 is it better for TBH and Izzo to go to Finch Farm and resign Bray as a number 2. Josh has a year left on his contract - but realistically he will be a squaddie next year. If you had to choose I would be picking Trent for potential over Josh - but I think they will looking at the same position. If Josh retired and Trent got the spot we would also free up some money.

Will Kalik come back or will we sell him? The only other sale I could see would be Austin. He seemed to be stuck in lower leagues in England and unhappy their before he came home. If he went again I think he would want to be in at least League One and I think he could do a job there.

Austin will stay in Aleague but not CCM. I fear we will see the best of him running at us wearing different colours.

NYL keeper - still only young

But aren't they using the NYL boys for both NYL and NPL2?

Sorry maybe I misunderstand something but what I'm figuring is weer effectively have 4 gk roles: 2 first team and 2 NYL are there more that i am missing?

Austin has another year on contract

Yeah - I lay no claim to any sort of insider knowledge whatsoever but I wonder how much of a rumour like this grows from fan discontent combined with the dreaming of fans from other teams. This is the second time I've seen this claim about Austin and last time it failed to grow any legs - thank God... Hoping this is the same.
I'm thinking we have to be careful with what we read into the dejectedness on the bench at the game. They have all had a REAL shitty season, that didn't necessarily mean that the frustration is aimed at the club as such.

As I've said in another thread our defensive third is suspect by an average 4 goal deficit each game atm, and can't play out. Our defensive middle can't create (being under inordinate amounts of consistent unnecessary pressure adds to that) - and this immediately sabotages our attack.
It's clear for me where recruitment is required.

http://wwos.ninemsn.com.au/2016/04/10/05/04/walmsley-vows-to-sign-seasoned-players

Burdened with the club's first A-League wooden spoon, Central Coast coach Tony Walmsley has pledged to inject his young squad with more experienced players who can lead on the pitch next season.
Walmsley was in a reflective mood after watching his side stumble to a 4-2 final-round home loss against Newcastle on Saturday.
So much had gone down in Gosford in 2015-16.
Handed a licence to lose, the still-new coach aimed instead to entertain disillusioned fans.
And lose the Gosford outfit did - 20 times from 27 matches.
A total of three wins and 13 points is how the 2013 champions' nightmare season reads, underlined by financial problems and a personnel overhaul that left a team comprised increasingly of talented but green youngsters.
Walmsley admitted it had been a tough period, and one that may have been a bit overwhelming for some of his squad.
"We made changes and we exposed a number of players to too much too soon," he said.
"That's really, on reflection, where things became challenging.
"If you come from 10 or 12 games in NPL 2 last year to playing 25 games in the A-League (this year), you just don't know how that's going to affect you until you're amongst it.
"But the future is very bright.
"We're very pro-active now in recruiting seniority - good leaders, experienced footballers that are going to make an immediate difference on the pitch next season.
"When we do that, the fans will be back."
The positive impact a senior figure could have was no more obvious than during 37-year-old marquee man Luis Garcia's stint.
Though the Mariners managed only one win during the former Liverpool star's 10 games, his presence was keenly felt, particularly by the team's younger members.
"When he arrived here, we all were looking for that inspiration because we were going through a tough season," Walmsley said.
"He certainly delivered that, it's just a pity we couldn't get a few more results to make his stay a little more pleasant on the pitch."
