i think lucy from brookvale and the free enterprise foundation , may beg to differ

Interesting saw a brief sound grab on the weekend and it hinted that for the NRL to get the stadium they want at Moore Park they need to move more games and it strongly suggested Manly would play their home games at Moore Park.

Tis said to have pissed off some heavy hitters at Manly ... Hopefully enough to get them to invest on the Coast.

I gather that's the budget for new signings rather than the full squad. If we suddenly go from a rumoured $1.8m spend to $5.4m then we'll be spending up with the likes of Melbourne City.

Still not bad though - considering the current budget got us a single Royo ;-) three more in that style would be a good thing.

Have been a bit slack with my Football reading of late, but have just read that:

Gui Finkler has signed with Wellington for 2016-17 season, which is a damn shame as I thought he could've been a great signing for us as the desperately needed CAM.

Would be interesting to know how much Gui cost, as we could end up spending similar coin for a player in that posi, hopefully on one who isn't of a lesser standard.

Only because, Gui was there for the taking, ever since Muscat dropped/failed to select him for Victory's ACL campaign along with Fahid Ben Khalfallah, who was also overlooked for ACL, both of whom were pissed at that decision.

Which leaves me nervously wondering about the statement made by TW & Peter Storrie, (who I spied in the CCM changeroom at Wanderland last nite)
the statement being ........

'were actively looking for 3-4 new players'

How active is their activity ??? Especially considering Storrie's knowledge of Aust. players is zilch and have a 'gut feeling' he has the final say on players as Charlesworth has basically given him & knly him the P.I.N number for the ATM

Ernie Merrick IS out there shopping - he signed up Kosta Barbarouses, one of Melb.V's wide attacking gun's on the 8th of March.

Then 16 days later, signs Finkler to complement McGlinchey, Roly Bonavecia and Albert Riera. That's one hell of a midfield with Finkler added into the mix.

Merrick is making his intentions clear about where he's taking the Phoenix next year after doing so well this season, only to fall over mid season with the loss of Krishna up front to injury who was banging in goals for them. (who was back for the Nix against MCity last Monday nite)

Add in Blake Powell wide up front probably being offered a 2 year deal after his 1 yr expires next week as well.

Ernie is being very active.

CCM on the otherhsnd leave me feeling like were sitting on our hands whilst possible good signings, like Finkler maybe even BFK ;) to slip away by not being proactive in approaching players and their agents . :-|

Hope not.

Wow, Ernie raiding the old cabinet or what. Didn't read about them signing Kosta. McGlinchey, Kosta and Finkler together will almost certainly transform Nix.

Maybe - maybe not. I agree Finkler would have been a great signing and is in an area we are looking at strengthening. FBK on the other hand I enjoy watching but our spine is where we need to concentrate
I suspect a bit is going on at the moment. My reading of the tea-leaves, rumours and downright speculation.

Out

Kalik will/has been signed by Hadjuk Split.
Garcia will not be re-signed - but we will use his contacts for future marquees.
Bray will not be re-signed at this stage
Heffernan will not be re-signed

Re-signings
We will re-sign Uskok, Stella and Buhagiar

In

First team
We have made an offer for Wilko (Bosnar replacement)
The rumour is we have signed/ about to sign a new #1 . (Reddy replacement)
We will sign a first choice #10 (Garcia replacement)
We will sign a player capable of playing multiple positions as a first team starter

Squad
We will sign Jake Adelson as the other utility player.

Marquee
If we sign a marquee it will be a striker/winger - I emphasise if.

I think it's worth bearing in mind that panicking gets us nowhere either... That doesn't only happen at the end of the window. Finkler would've been nice but it's a bit early to criticise when we dint know what the club is looking at.
Other than that - yeah! What PJ says! ;-) we need to bear in mind what roles we need to fill rather than just look hopefully at good players in any role.

At this time of year players and teams in the finals don't want to announce players leaving.

Was surprised NIX announced these signings so early but the cat was out of the bag so basically formalities.

Fox mentioned talk re: wilkinson but had nothing interesting to say.

We most probably are already shopping but don't be surprised if you don't hear anything for a while.

Mariners are notoriously slow at announcing these things traditionally anyway.

A few games ago fox said Del Piere was re thinking his retirement. He'd be worth a call.

What about Fatty who is rumoured to be on the out at SFC. I don't think he is awesome but paired with Wilko would give us some steal.

Finkler is classy but doesn't appear to dominate like he first did. Think he is on the decline and a full blown sook.

Nix wont be easy beats next year.

Its going to be exciting to see who we bring in?
