Seeing some very strong talk around linking us with Kwabena Appiah-Kubi. Not sure how I'd feel about this.

As for Agger, great player and true pro but can't see us having anything like his wages available (plus really can't see him un-retiring).

Hasn't progressed at all. At one time would have said yes. Just another meh signing if did occur

He can run very fast in a straight line and little else.

Walmsley signing in youth back in the day so not out of the question.

To be honest a cheap Austin replacement delivering the same outcomes

I'm checking out for a few weeks and fully expect a raft of state league or former bench warmers to have been signed when I return.

I'd love to be able to dream and hope, but I just can't take anymore blind optimism.

Worse than Austin. Austin can score goals.
f**k me we might as well resign Matty Sim if we are going to resign our own cast offs.

Bradden Inman definitely leaving Crewe now. Rumours has it that he has offers from League One and the Championship. Would be perfect especially if Austin leaves, he can play left wing and in a number 10 role. These young Aussie players were just released by their clubs:
Gian Mendez from Valencia
Oliver Pain from Crystal Palace
Chris Marques from Stoke City
Peter Skapetis from Stoke City
Brandon Wilson from Burnley
Hyuga Tanner from Blackburn

Peter Skapetis was scoring freely for the U20 and Olyroos before injury. If he is over that he may be worth a look

Never heard of any of them, apart from Inman....any worth a look JP?
Mendez is a 18 year old number 10 who moved from Blacktown City to Valencia when he was 15 and was in a Joeys (U16) squad for two games his father was a nine game socceroo and NSL stalwart. I cannot find any information past that on him. There isn't any evidence he has played senior football though. Would be an interesting option and maybe a good signing if first tested out in NPL2.

Oliver Pain is a 17 year old goalkeeper originally from Wollongong who moved to Crystal Palace when he was 14 where he eventually progressed to being given a senior contract according to the Southern Register "senior goalkeeping managers have been saying that he is the best apprentice they have seen in 40 years." He didn't play a single senior minute before being released however. We probably don't need another promising goalkeeper but might be good for a trial to see how he matches up to our current crop.

Chris Marques is yet another promising young goalkeeper who stands an intimidating 6' 2". He is originally from the Earlwood Wanderers in Sydney. He has reportedly played senior football though only with a side in the 10th division of English Football. With Stoke City he won the under-17 2014 Adidas Generations Cup which gathers youth teams from Europe and North America saving three penalties in the final. Once again we have a lot of promising young goalkeepers but could be good for a trial to compare with Adam Pearce.

Peter Skapetis is a 21 year old striker originally signed from South Melbourne. He was originally signed by QPR then sold to Stoke City for 300,000 pounds on the back of scoring 11 goals in 8 games for the Young Socceroos and Olyroos. Near constant knee injuries would then strike the young forward causing him to miss nearly the entirety of his two seasons at Stoke. Hasn't played senior football but was once touted as the next Mark Viduka. A player worth a trial to see if he still has his brilliance and spark, would make a good moneyball signing if his body is right.

If gian mendez is gabrials son . Then his dad was a very good attacking mid field.
He would have been a star in the a-league. Definatly worth a look

Apparently we are about to announce a new signing. A midfielder perhaps.
I hope he is a good one.
