Mariners Squad - HAL 12 - 2016 - 2017

The problem I see with all this conjecture is...

HAL COACH:

Ok squad, gather round... I'm just after a show of hands for who might be interested in being swapped to the lowest paying, lowest placed team in the league?
What's that 'snickering player'? Yes it's the same coach as last year.
What's that 'crying on the ground laughing player' Yes yes, it's the team with the palm tree kit on it.
What's that 'looking at me like I must be a total f**king lunatic player'? Yes, this is the same ones that the Fox guys always crap all over during the national televised coverage.
Come on guys... Think of all that free sauce?
No one at all? Really?
I have to confess I'm a little disappointed. I was at least hoping that you 'semi crippled in a tackle and has never been the same since player' might be interested...
YES! A f**kING HAND! Hallelujah!
Hang on... just... Sorry to stop you there...but you have to slow down because you're slurring too much, so i'm struggling to understand what it is you're asking me... 'worst player in the squad with no future here and who is presently drunk'.
...ok sorry, got you, got you. What the f**k am I even talking about. Right, well the basic idea is that another one of their players, thinks that the club and the coaching staff are shit, so they've got f**k all chance of developing there, so they really want to leave so...
what we do basically... is if we think he's better than you, then we take him, and we give you to them.

So come on... whose in?

I'm an idiot savant without the pesky savant bit
F**k him, Austin wants to go, let him go, we cant afford for someone to be hanging around not playing sucking up wages ...hopefully his mildly grateful to the club that dragged him out of obscurity to the point where "Up to 5 teams" want his services" but somehow I doubt it

Austin always came across to me as someone who thought he was better than us so while it's annoying to get him out of obscurity and then send him off to another team...meh...get rid of him.

Few interesting names released in the EPL that could be great/realistic pickups for A-League clubs...Pienaar/Steven Fletcher
Would love to see someone like that at Bluetongue but probably more realistic to head to a bigger club!

My sources are telling me Necevski is an excellent keeper and an all round good guy

Hopefully he pushes for a spot and dominates after all

Who are your sources?

Pushes for a spot when our first choice keeper is a train wreck.....wow I'm excited that our management team are on the ball:eek:

We must be holding out for another state league starlet.
Why would you sign a proven HAL player????

Rowdy.....I'm not happy about it.
Our signings so far have been average at best. 2 decent and 1 mug.

Going to be another long season at this rate.

If were throwing names like that around, then why not Denmarks, Daniel Agger ??

The 6'3" 'Scouser' Centre Back has just announced his retirement, shocking many as he's still fairly young in age - just 31 y.o & it's been only 2 years after leaving Liverpool.

Although he has battled a series of injuries throughout his career, including calf, knee and back problems, the decision may come as a surprise to many.

Agger left Liverpool after eight years to re-join boyhood club Brondby in 2014, and made 24 appearances in the Superliga last season, all of them starts.

Agger earned 75 caps for Denmark, with his last appearance coming in a 1-0 friendly loss to Scotland in March.

• 77 games for Brondby
• 175 games for Liverpool
● 24 games in season just gone if Danish SL
● & 75 caps for his National Team, with his last only 3 freaking months ago !!!

The last 2 points tell me he's not seriously injured & maybe a word from our own little 'Spanish Scouser- come- Mariner' could bend Agger's ear for a season or 2 on the beaches of the Centy Coast.

Lucho can sell him the lifestyle.

Also sell him that the football & shorter season won't be as hazardous on his body. ✔✔✔

Lucho can absolutely sell him that you dont have to work that hard for the $$$'s & can still fly out for Liverpool Legends games - ANYWHERE IN THE WORLD ✔✔✔✔ ✔✔✔✔✔✔ ;):p.

All jokes aside, Agger would make a great CB (as we damn well need one !!!)
& having played at only 2 clubs in his entire career could help re-instill some of the culture around what loyalty & unity can do for a club.

Something which we once prided ourselves on at the Mariners. :tophat:

......... but now seems to be on the wane. :(

I agree our signings so far have been underwhelming. My biggest concern is that all the other teams already look stronger than they did last year including those directly above us. Wellington have made a couple of important signings. If the Jets sale goes ahead the new owners a keen to compete in Asia so watch them get stronger when the sale goes through.

The remaining signings are crucial to us - a CB and a #10 are needed and if we are to improve they realistically need to be the our best players. If not then I agree it will be a very long season.

⬆⬆⬆⬆ABSOLUTELY THIS !

Lu Trani going to The Scum, for mine is evidence of this.

He's an excellent Asst. Coach with years of experience in this League- being a crucial cog in Adelaide's set-up prior to MCity.

Ambitious move, & a methodical one at that, I'd say.

Why would he leave:
'Massive Money - M.City' for Scumsville?
UNLESS there was an opportunity for something bigger.

I think Trani see's The Scum, that was previously mismanaged and under-resourced by Constantine & Tinkler, BUT NOW as extremely viable in becoming a 'Big- Club' to compete with the 'Big-Boys', nonetheless backed with millions of yuan courtesy of Light Emitting Diodes.

pushes for a spot was my own thinking, last season the club seemed relentless is starting Izzo at any cost - no doubt with develop and sell in mind.
My hope is Ivan demands the spot through quality and then owns it. For all our sakes.

Have to agree I'm not filled with confidence with the squad we have atm in comparison to the rest of the league

The best case scenario is Ivan teaches Izzo and initially claims the number one spot eventually overtaken by a much improved Izzo who we can sell on.

I dont agree Fulham.
Its just we were hoping an aging ex top player was going to be the Panacea for everything.
He didn't cause Izzo to get sent off after 30sec against the Scum...etc etc.
