I'm not questioning whether he is a good signing or not but to spend a visa spot on player is a big deal. Surely it takes more than two days to look at all our options especially if they are a visa player to check the club's networks around the world to see who is available. Maybe Faty is the best option right now but in 6 weeks or so he may not be.

No it isn't.
We never use all our visa spots.
He is a big step up in quality.
What are you winging about?

So I'm just going to say it... I think Mane was a signing with much much more potential than we were able to develop and utilise at the time... I think he could have been extraordinarily dangerous in this season's side, paired up with Austin on the other side and Roy at the front, we just didn't have the cattle to do much with him at the time and, obviously, he didn't have the temper...

I agree.
It showed Moss up as a "no clue".
Mane could have been massive for us.
He was shocked at how shit we were and how appallingly coached we were.

Tommy U scored on debut for Sydney United this evening.

I'm sure Bosnar will be in his ear about how fcuk'd a club we are,

"trust me mate, you'll be better off that they punted you in the long run ........ just look at me"

He'll probably wanna become his agent.

last season we were known as palm tree fc the last thing that we want to be known as is youtube fc because we're known for developing young players.

Replying to yourself. Nice. Others make fake users to argue with themselves, but you're not stuffing around with all that nonsense.

I think Kitto would be a better pick from the bunch they dumped than Leonardo.

At this point, i don't see anyone that I think we should be looking at in the Jest bunch - if we accept that we need to prioritise CB, CDM and CAM... We might not have the best FBs in the league, but they have potential, one can develop the other has had better seasons than the last one but they can definitely both be serviceable next season - plus a bit if they get a good season too.
For the wings it would be nice to have some competition, but for mine it's not the top priority and so, should be a matter for the days int he future when we have money pouring in ;)

Trying to decide if I think "Central Coast Bling" has a nice ring to it ;) Could change the club to CC$ too ;)

Central Coast Mariners have confirmed their intention to re-sign Australia defender Alex Wilkinson as the club embarks on a promised overhaul which they insist will take them from also-rans to contenders again next season.
The 31-year-old, who spent seven seasons in Gosford before embarking on successful three-year spell in the K-League, is also wanted by Sydney FC and could yet stay with Melbourne City, where his short-term deal is about to expire.
Though he declined to go into the specifics of a reported multi-year offer worth $300,000 a season, a Mariners official said: "We are aware of the speculation surrounding his future and we would always be interested in a player of his quality. That said, he will of course have several other options."
With another signing set to be unveiled early next week – a midfielder with A-League credentials, and former Sydney FC defender Jaques Faty already in the bag – Mariners executive vice chairman Peter Storrie said: "It's all about improving the backbone of the team and showing the supporters our intent."
Wilkinson, who joined City from Joenbuk Motors in February, has made eight appearances ahead of Sunday's A-League elimination final against Perth Glory at AAMI Park.
He made 172 appearances between 2005 and 2012 for Central Coast, also skippering the side with some aplomb.
His family remained in Sydney during his time with City, who are unwilling to match the Mariners' offer.
Storrie said the wooden spooners were in a hurry to prove to fans they are serious about adding substance to a young team who were unable to compete at A-League level this season.
"The priority is the centre of the defence and a central midfield player to get the spine of the team right and show we mean business for next season," Storrie said.
"This has been an awful year with terrible results because we have had to play kids all the time.
"We did that to get the club more financially stable and now that we have done that, it has allowed to us to invest in the squad again.
"Our message to the fans is 'we are not just saying it, we are doing it'. So it's about bringing in two centre-halves and a midfield player of quality straight away."

I love how club killer twists everything. As clever as one of his tax returns (allegedly)

"We had to play kids to get the club financially stable"

So when you told us we had to get rid of the bad eggs so that Walmsley could play his entertaining football was that a lie?

Or is this total bollocks as well?

Half of the problems these people have is that they believe their audience is stupid. The other issue is that they will only talk to SBS then wonder why no one hears the message.

Huh? There's no discrepancy between what he days here and what was said at the start of the season.
The players that were let go had to still be paid so there was clearly no advantage to letting them go, other than morale and discipline. That was aæways the report from the club. They were always going to play quite a bit of youth but they were forced by circumstance I to talking it to an extreme. That is basically what he's saying here now as well.

I can appreciate why you might not trust him but I don't see the issue with his comments here. If anything he's saying "We know you've been burnt and might not trust us but we'll get these signings, show intent and prove to you that we'll keep our promise"...

Fair enough

We agree to disagree. The football department completely and utterly got it wrong this season and it will cost them members.

Calling it early but 3,000 members is my guess for next season.

Not because of the errors but because nothing has changed.

As Kev said above. They were told and ignored it. That's why changes have to be made. Giving club killer complete control of recruitment is not a comforting step forward.

If the evidence doesn't suit your predetermined conclusion, best you ignore it.

Exactly. Facts.

Hutch Walmsley and Storrie got every single decision they had to make on the playing side wrong.

Couldn't manage dissenters

Couldn't recruit

Couldn't develop players to make them better (let's face it they couldn't teach a side of full time professionals to set a wall ffs)

However they want people to believe that it will be all good now?

Awful as we were - just don't see it the same way FFC. We'll see. I dont like watching us lose - but i love the club and will cop the odd awful season sweet if there is A) evidence as to why - beyond simple ineptitude - and there's a shit load of that. And B) the recognition of mistakes made and clear intent backed up by action to change.

I think we're seeing exactly that - but many think it's the coaching, so unless we change there don't seem willing to acknowledging the clearly positive forward movement that is now occurring.

The club sound committed to strengthening the squad adequately to me. Havent heard or imo seen that since arnie left right?

Going very hard for wilko it sounds and players of proven standard - not state league - being recruited. Good news in an off season at last i think.

OK.

The players we have are no good, get rid of them.

The coaches are crap, get rid of them.

Storrie is a club killer, get rid of him.

The owner is just trying to rip money from the club, get rid of him.

What do we have left?

FFC Mariner (and Mug Punter) in an empty stadium.
