Pretty much aligns with my thinking and numbers. I have not seen Adelson play - potential?

He looked VERY promising in the pre-season but looked very lightweight in his HAL games.
A better player than McDonald but without the experience.

TOWERING Portuguese striker Hugo Almeida has flagged a desire to play in the A-League.

Currently playing for relegation candidate Hannover 96 in Germany’s Bundesliga, the Portuguese international will be released from his two-year contract at the end of the season.

Almeida, 31, has played for Porto (when Jose Mourinho was in charge of the Portuguese club), Germany’s Werder Bremen and Turkey’s Besiktas, Italy’s Cesena and Russian clubs Kuban and Anzhi.

Alemeida has also represented Portugal at the 2008 UEFA Euro championship and the 2010 and 2014 FIFA World Cup tournaments.

The Advertiser has also seen a copy of a lucrative Chinese club contract which Almeida rejected as the Portuguese sets his eyes upon a stint in the A-League.

The left footed striker is destined to attract marquee player status but The Advertiser understands his contract price is less than those commanded by two current marquee players who haven’t got the same standing in world football.

Melbourne-based agent Franjo Blazevic has the exclusive mandate for Almeida for the Australian market and expects him to be in demand.

“He fits in the Australian market really well,’’ Blazevic said.

“He’s an aggressive, very tall striker, can score goals with his head and feet. He has an aura about him in the game, he can bring so much to the game in Australia.

“He is right up there, as a very well known player who has made their mark in world football such as Dwight Yorke and Alessandro Del Piero.”

Almeida is on his way out of Hannover 96 after making the move from Anzhi during the FIFA transfer window in January.

He hasn’t been part of the regular starting XI since he was issued with a three-match ban for elbowing Augsburg’s Dominik Kohr in 1-0 defeat in late February.

But Almeida’s A-League revelation comes two days after Socceroos superstar Tim Cahill claimed he would contemplate A-League soccer once his contract ends with China’s Hangzhou Greentown.

Adelaide United chairman Greg Griffin said Cahill would probably be out of the club’s financial reach if the national team’s leading goalscorer did come home this year.

Please Mr Charlesworth, sir can we have him?

Can't believe I am saying this but I would rather o'Donovan
I'm a massive almeida fan (he was a beast on Fifa lol)...

Right pedigree but wrong style
The mobility of Roy suits us a lot a better ;)

Almeida would probably be good for a Perth or Newcastle maybe...

Agree - we really need to spend on a number 10 as a priority in the attack (once the defence is sorted). Bingham is a great backup for Roy in my mind, and Fletcher may yet prove to be too, fingers crossed.

For all the shit that Fletch copped after his lazy first few performances I thought he was quite good in the last few games. Marked improvement on his initial appearances. Hopefully he'll come good next season too.

Yeah - it's one of the reasons why I struggle with the fans abusing their own team... I know these guys are thick-skinned etc, but it can't be doing much for their faith in themselves etc. and I think that Fletcher clearly wasn't quite ready when he first played... He still isn't, but he's improving and I perceive the subing as being part of managing his return to fitness... I'm looking forward to seeing what he can do next season, with some extra fitness etc, although I question wtf Bingham hasn't been used in the last couple of games... He's a hard worker, up-and-down-field and he can make a difference at this point.. I'm hoping that it's not a sign that he won't be showing up much next season, that'd be a shame and a waste I think.

Put him up front with Roy.

Elbows and Headbutt's ?
That's an attacking pair worthy of a stint in the .....

Fletch wasn't lazy, he was just unfit.

Who wouldnt be, after not playing for 2 years ???

Give him a pre-season and he'll look a completely different prospect to what we first saw of him.

I think they were looking to preserve his NPL eligibility. Happy to stand corrected if I'm wrong there.

THERE’S plenty of intrigue around the Mariners’ central midfield for next season, with Mickael Tavares firmly on Tony Walmsley’s radar — but only prepared to make the move if the money’s right. Sydney FC definitely won’t stand in his way, but the Central Coast are looking at other alternatives in case — such as Kearyn Baccus at the Wanderers.

The 24-year-old has only made two starts for Tony Popovic’s side, but is highly rated — and is contracted until the end of next season.

All of that must be concerning to Liam Rose, the highly rated 19-year-old who was an almost ever-present for the Mariners this year. Rose has a year left in Gosford, but we hear Melbourne City are very keen on reuniting him with Liam Fitzgerald and Anthony Cacares.

I think that's correct

He is an overage player and therefore number of senior games played is a factor as well

Ditto #thatboytrent (albeit meets the age criteria)

F#K paying him loads, we've got his Cuz (which is the card up our sleeve) -
so if he wants a 'Family Reunion' visa to the beautiful Centy Coast, then a significantly reduced wage is on offer.

Otherwise 'tuff' it out with SydFC for your final year with not much Arnie love.

Your choice Tav.

I'd keep looking around to see what's available for mine.

I think with fitness we might well see a front three of Fletcher, O'Donovan and Bingham. As mentioned in the review thread by someone both Austin and Fabio love to get forward in attack but don't press in defence in concert with Roy and are loathe to track back.

Where is Joe Cole playing these days?
I wouldn't mind seeing him in our 10 shirt.
Even Enrique from Bris, who must be sick of not starting very often.

So with that front 3 - Austin & Fab get benched, right ?

If they sub on - the formation has to then change to make up for their defensive culpabilities. ;)

I think these 2, and that issue will be a real headache for TW next season.

Think one of your previous posts PJ where you said something like ......

"Next season, people may find that some of the players that they consider to be our best players may in fact fail to get a regular starting spot on the team sheet"

........ will definitely ring true, perhaps even for these 2 players.
