So, what would be stopping Man City from 'lending' a $10mil team to Melb City? Anything (value proposition to Man C aside)?
I don't have any issues around what's happened with Cac, but I wonder if there's a loophole that could be badely exploited?

I think the pay still has to go under the cap yeah? - so unless they were lending them a $10 Mill. team and only making them pay the player $2 Mill. they wouldn't be able to... And I _THINK_ there's a rule as well, about the player not being played from the parent club while they're here - beyond what the local club pays for the player that is.
So the players would need to be willing to play here, under the salary cap. That obviously isn't an issue with Caceres.

Thought Walmsley/ club has used that well. It's all true. As was the disapponting stuff. Handled it graciously ( certainly more than caceres camp) and to the best interests of all in a shiity situation as i see it.

There's a chance that the impetus of proving a few doubters at his old club wrong or that stepping up with new opportunity will finally inspire him to the kind of success we all thought he was capable of.

But if it does, it will be a pity he couldn't find that same impetus in lifting the club that did a lot for him and where he was well loved for a long time. Especially when it needed him most.

However, im with GRA. But also think he is a good passer of the ball - Though far too often back or sideways for mine for an AM - great for passing stats, but not for assists.

Ultimately, hard to be convinced he'll do great things due to the lack of vision, work ethic, movement and ability to dictate a game, create opportunities and score regularly that we saw.

But will now see if he proves me wrong.
Will also take more than the odd great game like he did for us where the ball keeps falling to him as evidence.

Anyway glad to see it all come to an end. Was pathetic to seeing it being spun as TW persecuting a talented player and it not being about what it was clearly about.

As ro City buying power being used to get around HAL rules. Well if you were MV or someone ekse challenging for honours, there is reason to be upset by this?

Best part about city group is their cash is legal tender. Always nice to sell to someone who can afford to pay on time

Ok he's gone.

I think he will disappoint us all and perform well not great at city.

With all the attackers at City they will make him look good. Also may see more space as not the man at city. At CCM shut down Caceras shut down CCM.

Not a star can't control a team like Mooy but an effective piece if doesn't need to carry the load.

His best game for me this year was the first against Perth where they were mesmerised by our attacking intent and forgot about Caseras and he had a field day

The lampard rule..
Something similar stopped them from bringing Lampard to Melb.

Funny thing is now anyone who signs for A-League club Melbourne City will be cited as being signed for Manchester City which sounds a far bigger deal than it really might be.

Honestly I'd like to see Caceres off overseas ASAP to [grow his skills and career. All the best to him just not against us.

Why oh why couldn't it have been a swap deal for Mooy? *grin*

Former Western Sydney Wanderers winger Youssouf Hersi set for move to Central Coast Mariners

Tom Smithies

THE Mariners are poised to sign former Wanderers winger Youssouf Hersi – with next weekend’s clash against Western Sydney earmarked as his first game.

The Daily Telegraph has learned that Hersi will fly to Sydney on Sunday and undergo a lengthy medical in Gosford, to try to convince the Mariners medical staff that he has overcome the hamstring issues that cut short his move to Perth last season.

If he is given the all-clear, Hersi will sign a contract through to the end of the season, and hopes to convince the club he can stay with them beyond that.

A smash hit with the Wanderers in season one – though he missed the grand final through suspension – Hersi would add much-needed experience to the Mariners line-up, and is still only 33.

Though his impact was diluted slightly in his second season at the Wanderers, Hersi still managed eight goals in 47 games overall for Tony Popovic’s side.

His departure from Western Sydney came after he had sought a contract worth some $500,000, and subsequently accepted a lucrative deal at Perth.

However he hasn’t played since tearing his hamstring at Perth in December 2014, and it’s understood he has been training with a club in Holland since being granted a release from Glory last May.

For the Mariners it would be something of a gamble given his chequered injury record, but would also add some crowd-pulling excitement after a succession of signings from the state leagues have failed to enthuse the Central Coast faithful.

Their side remains bottom of the table going into today’s clash at Adelaide, but Hersi’s arrival would undoubtedly add to the attendance next Saturday when Western Sydney bring thousands of supporters to Gosford.

Nor is it likely to be the last signing, with coach Tony Walmsley believed to be considering other options while the transfer window remains open.

Meanwhile the transfer of midfielder Anthony Caceres to Manchester City has formally been announced, with his long-term destination most likely to be Melbourne City.

As The Daily Telegraph revealed this week, Caceres signed a deal believed to be worth around $320,000 for the Gosford club.

No no no

Was horrible at Perth. Faded at WSW.

We need a #10 most
2nd a CB
3rd a striker
4th a real goalkeeper
5th an old winger

Only thing going for him is he fits the experience we need but he has to be behind Fab and Austin, so what good is the experience on the bench?

Now I've calmed down

If he is prepared to be a sub he will be handy late as both Austin and Fab do tire and need to be subbed.

I hope he proves me wrong
but the league has moved onto faster better wingers. Castellan, Navillo, Barborousas

Just can't please us hey he's not young, he's to old

Enough, time for me to cheer him if he passes the physical

It's a good signing - look at our depth when Fab got injured and/or Austin was out. And rightly pointed out that neither last a full game at the moment.
Still need those other priorities looked at though
