MELBOURNE City today will complete the loan signing of Central Coast Mariners attacker Anthony Caceres in an A-League first that could draw the ire of other clubs.

Manchester City has agreed to buy Caceres, the Mariners’ best player this season, for more than $300,000 and will loan him straight away to its Melbourne sister club for the rest of the A-League season.

My younger brother lives in Melb and is a City fan - he messaged me yesterday saying this was likely. I replied
"He's the best in the league with his feet, 3-4 defenders around him can't take the ball. But he creates nothing, at all, and goes missing for large parts of a game. All yours"

prediction: he will start on the bench initially, then will make the first 11 for a few games, then will go back to the bench for the rest of the season

I'm a fan of Cac and wanted him to do well the whole time and was prepared to give him all the time in the world. which we did. and it didn't happen. I think he is technically gifted but his vision is below par. overall average mark as a result.

I'm in two minds... I'm hoping to God that he won't turn into one of those guys who is suddenly an awesome player, when facing his old club but... I really would like for him to succeed.

Going on his performances for us though, I think you're about right... For now at least, if he gets a start there, I'd think it would be as an injury replacement... We'll see.

Central Coast Mariners expect to seal a deal with former Australian youth international Matthew Fletcher within 24 hours as the club seeks to boost its attacking stocks.

What I like about TW is he does trail many of the players he signs and his past record of picking the right players is arguably the best in the league and this makes me me think Matthew could be a very decent signing.

You posted back on page 83 that Kalik has moved to Hajduk Split .. can you add anything ie when. a transfer fee, loan etc...

Was about to comment on that too. Maybe Caceres has a lot of mates that are journalists?

Until the money is in the bank I'm shattered that we are losing our best player this year for such a low fee and Charlesworth must be down to his last dollar for taking it.

Fox Sports saying Fitzy is going to City as well as injury replacement for Gamerio.

Caceras where will City play him? Behind Mooy? Sub?

City going all SFC.

For such a terrible club the big boys like stealing from us

I think it was better we got something for him, rather than nothing when his contract runs out in under 18 months. I'm a fan but he wasn't effective this year and with us bottom of the league we are hardly showcasing him to would be buyers. He wanted out anyway so lets take what we can and move on....hopefully we get someone to really grab that #10 position.

Re the returning Marquee

Hints to date, left sided, can play 10 or 0... is free..

James Troisi .... OK OK by heavens he ticks all boxes and wants a short return to the A-League
Muscat said full for Marquee so no spot.
Only AU who are keen and Nix are interested.
Who would we get to pay for him for us?
